So true. So sad I never got to know of him till after his death. He even performed 15 minutes walk from my house in Nelson, but I never even knew who he was till many years later.
Jackie is a freind of mine, i know him as a friend, someone to drink with and someone to jam with, but have never seen him play a live gig, until now!!! Jackie is a great man with imense talent! Great set Jackie see you around, Andy the Blues Harp
I loved that Man. I saw him play so many times over the years, including his Jockstock Festivals. He was a Giant, a one-off character and a superb musician and performer
back in the late 70's early 80's i couldn't get ONE friggin human being to share my passion for doll by doll.my cat liked it but he liked everything except suicide which freaked him out.and captain beefheart (arty bullshit),though he did try to eat the cover of trout mask replica.after the third album i would have bet that jackie was a prime candidate for rocknroll casualty-hood,right next to peter perritt.glad to see that he not only survived but is still great...pete's just lucky to be alive.
Jackie was a dear friend, and I got to know Peter Perrett pretty well some years ago. Broke my heart when the big man died, but thank goodness Peter's still with us and has confronted his demons and come out the other side!
Almost gave Jackie a gig at Glastonbury one year - sadly he slammed his hand in the car door on the way down so never made it!!! :-( This is one of my favourite songs EVER...
So sad to hear that this great musician died of cancer last night. God bless him for he was a genius and a warm hearted man whose music touched many people.
I can imagine anything more likely to bring on homesickness than listening to J. Leven and Runrig in the same gig ( Volkshaus Zürich, Mara tour 98? I beleive hes from Leven, in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland. Me too. Die schottische Stadt Glasgow wird erwähnt, i meine er spricht von Hamburg. a life on trains plaines with bruises and stains only know will we hear his genius a scottish giant of rythem and booz one tiny self sleeps doll by doll
meant to say "cant imagine" or better still, havent expierenced more homesickness than then, although Runrig at the Singen Openair 2005? was close. Die crazy Deutschen in ihren Kilts wirkten so absurd das es mir dunkt ich bin in die falschen Film.

Criminally underrated artist. A singer songwriter just as great as Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Van Morrison,

Genius is an overused word but Jackie probably qualifies. Great version of one of his best songs. RIP Jackie

This is exceptional, really intense, lyrically brilliant, and what a voice, he's some a long way since the days of John St.Field
