Heavy-Duty Aftermarket Tire Mount. An oversized aftermarket spare tire can put undue stress on the Jeep’s tailgate: the factory sheet metal may not be strong enough, the hinges can wear out, causing the tail end to sag or the tailgate welds themselves may start to fail. The Barricade HD Tire Carrier with Mount for 2007-2018 JK Wranglers will reinforce the rear end and is designed to redistribute the weight of an aftermarket tire across the entire tailgate. This Tire Carrier retains the use of the factory third brake light, and as it is tub-mounted, will not interfere with the daily operation of the tailgate, while allowing for bumper customisation as well.
Two-Way Adjustability. Made from 5mm-tick hot rolled carbon steel plate, this Barricade HD Tire Carrier features a two-stage finish with an epoxy pre-coating and high-grade textured black powder coating. With new stronger hinges capable of handling the additional weight of an aftermarket tire and wheel, the Barricade HD carrier also features a two-way adjustable tire mount, which can be adjusted to accommodate the unique size of the tire.
Bolt-On Upgrade. This Barricade HD Tire Carrier will reuse the original factory mounting points and will not require any cutting, drilling or other modifications. This is a bolt-on installation that can be completed with basic hand tools within approximately two hours. The factory third brake like is reused.

Just installed this on my 2013 2-door JK, and it was NOT a 2 hour install as advertised. Took literally all day long, and required an unplanned trip to the store! Posted a video about my experience here on my channel. But synopsis: bracket wasn't flat, studs for mounting the tire were bent, and welded in at the wrong locations (I can only tighten one lug nut), and the whole thing sags under the weight of the tire so much that the tailgate drags on the bumper, despite being pushed up in the holes as far as it will go. Also, was missing bolts for bolting the tire carrier to the bracket!! My opinion on it is pretty darn low - we'll see if it stands up over time.

Are the fairly simple to remove. Would I start by removing the hinge pin and how hard will that be?

Hinges started to rust after 1.5 years installed on garage kept mall crawler.
XT does not warranty the finish of the product. And barricade is owned by the same parent company is XT.
There is no way to get replacement hinges according to XT. was giving small refund and told you remove hinges and paint with Rust-Oleum paint.
Worried that paint will not match. They should be able to offer support and replacement parts for items that they manufacture and sell.
