I've had my freeze dryer for about a year and love it! The only issue I had was that it arrived damaged by the shipping company. The driver tried to get me to accept it anyway, but I followed the directions Harvest Right had given and refused it. I actually had tears because I had been so excited to finally receive it; but Harvest Right customer service was great and sent me a new one immediately that arrived in a week. Thank you for all the informative videos!
How exciting! That was a interesting tour, glad you were invited and thanks for showing us! Ive had my FD for 1 1/2 years now and love it. My only problem was the software update which fixed my extra dry time after updating.
I still wish they would provide the ability to get a medium tray rack with two shelves. That way I can FD items like books and papers or other items for preservation and or criminal evidence collection. Their FD's could greatly assist the historical preservation world.
Thanks for the video. Did you get any insight into the repair and replacement parts for the oil-free pump? So far, no luck with their customer service.
Thank you Phil for the tour. I do not like the extra shelf in the basket. If it increased how many pounds you could do it would be different but I think it might make it harder to get your 10 pounds in there effeciently. Also might have foods touching the heat liner more. I do love my HR machine and enjoyed the tour.
I had been on an email list for Harvest Right since 2012. Finally picked one up there at SLC 2 weeks ago. Haven't put it together yet but I opted to pay for the oilless option for less maintenance.
I’m not going to batch harvest Right even tho I had 3 machines all break in a week. I am looking at blue alps, stay fresh and D freeze. If push comes to shove i make my own. If I cant find a freezer dryer for my needs.
@@Philat4800feet I envy you, I have 8 machines and I had to fix 5 of them. 3 of them where vacuum errors. 2 had electrical problems, 2 had software issues and 1 of them had a new pump that was bad from the start. Phil, Did you get confirmation whether the HR machines are "made in America" or "assembled in America" or another process? This seems to be a question that many people ask now a days.
Up until Precovid the units were made in the USA. Sales took off and manufacturing went overseas to China. When they arrive back here, the units are mostly disassembled, tested, checked out, program uploaded, and reassembled.
Good Morning Sir, I’ve been dealing with HR for a few months, unit has never worked, burnt my amazing harvest slap up. HR customer service needs a major change, and the software after software they offer is a joke. I just did a video yesterday on what I’m dealing with.

After trying to use it on a video, we was told the inside rack was upside down from a viewer, so we had to take it out and flip it to where the orange was up and not at the bottom where the trays touched it, then It literally burned everything that was on the trays, and the screen would completely lock up and to unlock, we had to turn power off and restart the unit. They said software program 18 was the wrong program, so then they had me upload software 24, after that I continued to get a msg - mid batch heater failure, now they say software 24 has a bug, and then installed software 25D. At this point I requested them to exchange this machine, I don’t trust it at all and that was denied.
I’m becoming very disgruntled with my freeze dryer. We are working with a tech from the company because our FD IS only forming ice in the front of the vacuum chamber. We cannot get a clear answer as to whether that is a problem or not. No one seems to know. We continue to run different batches of food and send in log files for review and still no clear answer. We aren’t overloading the trays but it is taking an extremely long time to complete the process. Most batches of normal food take more than forty hours to complete. Many up to 60 hours. Does this seem normal? Thank you for any help in this matter
I have the 5 shelf unit. My only complaint is that it is difficult to clean the shelves and I have small hands, but my understanding is that it does decrease processing times. If anyone has any suggestions on something to use to make cleaning that easier, I am open to suggestions. 😃
@@Philat4800feet Thank you. I will try that. I have been using alcohol to clean my FD since watching your video on the bacteria growth in the FD. I have learned so much from you. You are a man of many talents.
Phil, love your channel, the one thing that really bothers me is why they will not give us the opportunity to use the old stable software . 16? They won't send it to anyone, and I understand customer service only wants to troubleshoot with the most current version. Maybe Dan could allow this if he is the Christian man you spoke of and let the owners try a stable version 🤔 to assess there machine. They could make you switch to current version for troubleshooting with the tech at harvest right. Bottom line is if it works with a stable version, upgrading to the newest version should not create errors. The software they are putting out is not vetted, my unit came with .19 that could cause a house fire. And the wiring for the shelf unit should not create a safety issue with no ground.
IMHO the main reason that oil-less scroll pumps are still ordered by customers is LACK OF EDUCATION by HR. Customers are wary of doing a simple oil change and do not clearly understand the type of oil used and how easy it is.
It seems like with doing this much business that they would be better at customer service. They seem to be more interested in getting the Freezedryer’s out there to you tubers and selling faulty Freezedryer to unsuspected Customers. I believe they have definitely put a black mark on the industry with the way they handle their business. We spent over $4500 for a large Freezedryer and it worked for two years. We have been going back-and-forth with them for over 10 months now and it’s still not working people call saying that they had an appointment with us when they didn’t and of course we’ve have other things to do besides waiting around for their phone calls that don’t come through when they say they will things not getting fixed and they don’t take them back if you’re not happy with them. Elon Musk needs to get in to the Freezedryer game.
The reason they have so much damage in shipping is because the units are packaged in such a piss-poor way. The origami flimsy "box" they ship you to package the faulty unit in to have it repaired is alarming. I had to do my own upgrades with extra cushion inside to take up all the excess space. These units just rattle around within the box otherwise. Such an easy common sense fix, but laziness prevents it. 😒🙄😮💨
Um, whats up with the kitchen practices? Sending food out to people as samples. I saw quite a few nogos in that kitchen for food safety that is packaged. No one was wearing hair nets for one. Customer will love the hair in their sample.

You don’t sell nearly a half million machines by making junk. I used to be a exotic car mechanic, even half a million dollar royals Royce have problems, and they’re all hand assembled one by one
Will the plus1 racks be available to use in the old FDs without any machine upgrades? I might would purchase one to try. Thanks for sharing video. Good Stuff.
One additional obvious problem for most with the new plus-1 racks, less space means more difficult to clean. Granted, some do not mind using a bottle brush, but doing so tends to splatter dish water all over the kitchen walls, unless using a tool with narrow rectangular rags/clothes instead of the plastic bristles on the bottle cleaning rods. For the time being, I'll stick with my medium freeze dryer's racks, for ease of cleaning, as I have plenty of room for the time being.
