It’s wild to hop right into a 40 hour work week when you’ve never had a regular office-style job before. I had a few internships that helped train me up for it. It was definitely hard at first. I wish you the very best of luck girl!!! I hope it’s not too tough of an adjustment. Very proud of you for taking the leap 🕺🏻

I'm impressed Emmyn caught that you sounded ignorant about being shocked that people work all day 😭 but yes most of us go through that lol that's why a lot of people get really annoyed when content creators complain excessively about being stressed i guess, cause even though we have structure we don't have freedom

@@DaniCalleiro Dan I don’t think that’s what the commenter meant… ur comment about how you go to work and it’s nighttime (and it being a shock) is such a real experience for like 80% of the world and it truly is a shock when you first start (I’m three years in, and it’s still a shock half the time lmao). A lot of content creators get hate because they don’t recognize that a 9-5 takes up literally your entire day and we barely get time with our families or time to have a life during the week (I think that’s what the commenter was pointing out).
But Dan if you’re truly working 8-6, even with a break.. look elsewhere. A 10hr job is no life to live. We’re too young to give our lives up to major companies that couldn’t care less about us.

If anyone gives you hate for realizing how taxing a full time job is, send them to me, I’ll punch them for you. As someone with adhd who’s been struggling hard the last couple months I loved seeing your reaction and thoughts on an 8 hour day. Most of us started long days of learning and thinking when we started 1st grade or kindergarten. The ones of us with adhd have somewhat developed coping mechanisms to get through it at a really young age, it wasn’t until I took 3 years off working that I realized what those 40 hour weeks were doing to my mental health! I wish more people could experience it later in life and maybe as a society things would be different, because it is fricken hard. But I’m glad you have a job doing something you are able to feel good about and enjoy doing and I I think you’re going to do amazing.

This definitely won't be an easy journey for you, and that's perfectly normal, considering the fact that you have to overcome hurdles and struggles to reap better rewards in the long run. I work for a school board, I have to be at work for 730, I’m up at 530 every day, and I feel it. When I started it felt so weird. I’ve gotten into a routine though that when I get home I have time to do things- I never had time before because I’d be out until 7pm because of working two jobs. Getting home at 330 is so weird, but again, once you get into it, you’ll be good :)

Dani look into renting an office space if you can afford it. Being able to decorate a space and physically go there is like the most rejuvenating part of a remote job. I had an office space at home when I was remote, but the effect of it wore off quickly, especially if it’s in your room.

Indeed, welcome to the reality of the real world. I got my first job at 20 as well, and I think people will misunderstand what you mean... like I always knew what having a job ment, and the time it takes out of a day, but it still seemed like I'd work and then live life, not leave work and have FEW hours to do anything before bed. Its one of those things that you don't really know until you experience it. Its pretty wild because of that too, like I knew but I also had no idea.

I think this is going to be so good for you & your mental health Dani! I think it’s gonna give you more purpose and meaning and make you feel really good about yourself. YouTubing can always be something you do part time, or only on weekends or 3 days a week or whatever, and is always something you can go back to. But I think this job, and the fact that it’s not only a job but a good cause that you believe in and want to fight for, will be so good for your mental health. Going from not really working to working a 9-5 job is going to be extremely draining at first, but I really encourage you to remember this moment and why you chose to do this during that rough patch of acclimating. Because once you’re over that hump, I think this will be great for you. You have seemed a bit down, lost, and lonely lately (especially when Emmit isn’t there), and I think this is definitely the answer and the thing that will help change all of that. Wishing you the best of luck and really hoping this is something you can love and excel at.

You see as a 9-5 caregiver, I have to move my body a lot, and it gets tiring. This is why I like to break down the hours and organize what I am going to do during the day. Instead of saying I will work 9-5, I say I will work 9-10 or 11, and when it gets to 3, I say I will work 3-4 or 5. And eventually the whole day is over. But I never vibe with a school desk type of job. That can be boring if you can’t listen to music and then there’s homework...if you decide to procrastinate.

Dani I am so excited for this journey for you. I feel like having an external job that isn't your own content creation will give you great structure in your life and a break from the stress of your own social media. I am truly hoping everything goes smoothly for you :)

congrats on the new job! I think it really helps with a person's sense of routine. Also YES NOTEBOOKS I always need a notebook at my job (in office and at home). Planners never worked for me, but notebook are great. Marshall's/TJMaxx (can't remember which) sometimes has a great selection of spiral-bound ones!

Congrats girly! I generally have to have music, podcasts or TV shows playing in the back ground to focus on my work or else I find myself picking up my phone a but too much. Something about the quietness of the office most days makes it hard for my mind to not wander so I listen to music for hours on end.

The first day I worked 9-5 it seemed soooo long and I wondered how I was going to be able take working that long every day, but now it's normal. A lot of days I struggle to be productive for a while after lunch and fantasise about going to bed, but that's just part of life now. Some work days end up being more interesting and go by faster.

I totally relate to valuing your time more when you work. I have worked full time office jobs the last 5 years and always think “I wish I had more time”! Yet-When I was laid off due to covid, I found myself sitting at home with nothing to do, just on social media or being unproductive. I think it’s nice to have a balance! Also, I never had a full time job until after college when I was 22 and I think a lot of people start around that age so I definitely don’t think you’re ignorant for this being your first 9-5!

hey dani!! just out of curiosity. is this job a job you can find anywhere? like is it a common job? do you need a college degree? i’m trying to find a 9-5 job where like i don’t necessarily need a college degree. school and i don’t have a great relationship with it.
