This is one of many videos, showing and highlighting the new features of FS25. This is by no means the ONLY new feature of the game. This is also NOT the only thing that GIANTS have been working. This particular video was showing the twister.
Yes, but THIS feature of the game looks RUBBISH.
As far as I know you can’t ignore a tornado so there better be some tweaks like it being a serious problem otherwise it’s a gimmick.

I appreciate you showing us this footage, MrSealyP! I'm not usually one to be critical of FS but I think this is one of those times when I need to be. On one hand I like the crop damage and the broken trees, I love the concept of weather events that will cause damage and interrupt farming in some way like real life even if not 100% accurate, I appreciate that this is still classified as a "work in progress" too but on the other hand I really hope this going to get a lot of work done before launch because in it's current state it feels like a woefully unfinished feature to me!
The fact that it ONLY affects crops and trees seems like a massive oversight to me. If it's going to destroy crops then at the very least there should be some damage to grass too, even if it's just knocking back a growth stage in places or leaving dirt patches near the center of the twister. Considering the damage to trees I'm left wondering where the rest of the tree has gone, there should be some kind of debris left behind in terms of broken logs and branches. Even if bits of tree aren't physically thrown around surely they could add different animations into the twister when trees are damaged to show tree bits swirling in the winds then spawn broken logs around the outer area after a few seconds. Fence sections could do with being blown down too, or at least removed to simulate damage to them.
The lack of high wind effects on trees, grass, crops, vehicles / exhausts and especially the player is somewhat concerning too. To be able to walk into the centre of the thing was laughably bad to me, I know it's a family friendly game and nothing "bad" is supposed to happen but the least they could do is add some kind of cartoon style catapulting of the player away from the twister if you get too close or even just have it push you backwards a short way if you try to run into it. The same with vehicles, sure it's not going to throw them around but maybe some kind of shaking or rocking side to side from the wind would go a long way.
To be honest if this is anywhere near the final version I'd rather just have a warning siren go off with instructions to seek shelter and have a cutscene play after a short period that shows a bit of generated twister footage and skips you to the next gameday while it calculates damage to crops, grass and trees, moves or tips vehicles, bales, etc and you spawns you back at your sleep trigger once it's cleared so you can go out and inspect the damage.
And after all that what I will say is this, so long as I can turn it on / off that's fine with me. 😁 I do seriously hope it sees a lot of improvement though between now and release!
This is exactly what I was thinking it lacks effect in the Tornadoes path apart from the crop damage
Considering you can ignore it (at the moment) it’s just a gimmick.
If it was just aimed at crop damage then heavy rain would have been better choice in my opinion.
Have to say im a bit underwhelmed by the twister, i think other weather affects such as lightening or wet patches in fields due to heavy rain would have been far more immersive
WTF. So many things could be improved in the game and you give us this crap. Giants have lost the plot.
Pointless feature, they didn't even make the correct clouds for the tornado, sun is shining.

I was actually looking forward to having Twisters/Tornados in game as a new weather system feature but after seeing this I’m a bit disappointed, I know it’s still a “work in progress” but the lack of impact the Twister had other than the crop itself is a bit concerning i mean no grass damage no damage to bushes, even if they make it so it causes vehicle damage
So far i havnt seen anything to get me excited for this game.

It is an interesting first try, but I don't think they actually know how tornadoes work. They do not move that slow. I grew up in tornado alley in the US and never seen one that acted even close to that. They need to do a lot more work to make this viable in my opinion.
This looks absolutely rubbish. No movement of crops or grass. Just looks poor. Just wasn’t needed.
What's next? Godzilla walking out and about destroying crops and eating cows?

The game looks brilliant can't wait for it but this. Why? If your going to do extreme weather do it properly thunder, lightning, extreme heat, floods etc all of these could have effected crops in natural ways. Dont just add some half arsed twister. Glad its not just me who thinks that looks shocking
One of the first farming games I ever played, believe it was called “John Deere American Farmer” It had Hail and Wind damage that randomly occurred. It really made for a satisfactory harvest if you were able to avoid the weather.
While the idea within FS 25 seems to be about the same. The effect of the tornado looks a bit strange to me. We need Ryan Hall to help giants design this element 😂
I don’t know. It’s like… I don’t mind the idea. I don’t mind that they WANTED to implement tornados. But I feel like they either needed to go all the way with it (i.e full destruction including vehicles, foliage/environment reacting to the wind, etc) or don’t implement it at all. This just feels half baked and goofy to have tornados appear on the map, but the environment doesn’t react to it at all. You can literally just keep on farming directly through a tornado without anything really happening. Just seems silly.
I’d rather have crop rotation in seasons like fs19
That giant salad spinner needs a women riding a bicycle turning into a witch riding a broom - at least on a Kansas map. It's one of the features that will get old fast and turned off
Personally I'm really not interested in this stupid tornado. It will be switched off permanently so I can try to enjoy the farming simulation part of the game which is what I buy the game for...
I really wish Giants would focus their efforts on making the game more simulation but unfortunately Giants Engine is now the limiting factor. It simply cannot cope with even the simple things like the LOD. Even simple grass swaths cannot be rendered properly which is ridiculous.
The only reason I buy this game now is the quality mods which are created by the community. It is the quality mods that give this game the life it needs.
I for one am disappointed. You can still see the LOD circle in this video. 😡

yeah same looks bad and frankly why would anyone want something that ruins the farm, it's not like you can do anything to protect your self from it. nor does it add any realism since it only destroys trees, crops, bales.
I love it I recon it's good idea having twister in but I wish it can damage houses and buildings that's what I don't like and pick equipment

Personally i think they should have had a questionnaire to see what could have been added to the game instead of what they feel. I feel they could have ground texture, hedge cutting where you can actually cut hedges as a contract or on your own land, track/road maintenance down to fields or gateways, barns/buildings been restored. Just some of the ideas that would make it more interesting as it has just become vanilla now. Modders have made better things and maps but again its my opinion. It has so much potential to be great. Cattle and crops have better ground features even though i haven't played it but seeing some videos shows where its went. I think tractor engine sounds need to be addressed as most sound the same now. So many things can be altered and changed but hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later.
Not griping and complaining, but I hope they can make it cloudy when the tornado comes through.
I love it I am however a little surprised let the tractor was not picked up in the twister and thrown because that's the sort of thing that twisters do nevertheless I am impressed because it's something new it's something that we haven't had before and I should be ordering in a couple of weeks really excited about 25 I have other simulation games but farming simulator and train Sim world are the only two that I play now
It feels like wasted resources. I wish that we got stuck in the mud mechanic (like in snowrunner) and rain affecting soil, instead of tornados.
They should adopt snowrunner physics to a certain point, like the mud, would be awesome 🤙🏽

I like it its something new at least, maybe modders can take it and improve upon it ... Id love it if it ruined buildings and you got missions to deliver planks etc to the buildings to repair them
This is a stupid gimmick, the resources put into this 'feature' should have been put towards far more useful core game improvements (LODs, soil variety etc.). The foliage of the crops nor the exhaust of the vehicle are affected by the gales, and the vehicles themselves are rock solid- no buffeting, all as if the twister is not there at all.

I agree. Very little debris, no effect on the ground or vehicle at all. Just a fucking bad gimmick. GIANTS, please scrap this "feature",and give us the Claas Cougar 1400 instead.

I completely agree! Instead of focusing on the tornado, I would have preferred real mud such as mud runner that gets you stuck while chopping corn
The idea that weather impacts yields is an overdue game machanic, but as usual, they've implemented it in a half arsed manner.
I mean I guess I can respect them for giving something a try but I hope they take everyone into consideration when we say we don’t want this. Maybe one day when they can actually do proper interaction with the map and make it feel more immersive

The crops and the soil arent realistic
Weather has a lot to do with farming as it impacts your crops so that includes twisters its real life people real farming community have to deal with them
If your doing a contract and a twister hits, are you going to be able to complete it if you lose crop. Hmmmm?????
I think it ll only be spawning on player owned plots.
You do not need to pre-order a digital game, buy it after it comes out if it has no major bugs.
I am not so hyped about this feature, not because I think it's stuupid, but because I played Jurassic World Evolution since 2018 and there was a Twister feature in that game already. It looked quite similar to the FS25 one, it did not harm the player or vehicles or animals, but it destroyed buildings. So the view of the FS25 Twister looks kind of already known to me, although it is a brand new feature for this game series

I think that it needs to move faster and a little more unpredictably with damage to building and equipment.

If the FS25 devs aren't going to bother making it convincing, adding strong winds, destroying fields, crops, shacks, damaging buildings, equipment, throwing things around; then what's the point?
FS isn't a game about having set pieces events. It's about farming. How many more other features that could have added in, that are way more relevant, but were left to the side just to make something flashy for the trailers?

Thumbs down time it is. What a miserable gimmick. At least I knew what to expect, nothing important or heavily requested physics noooo let's do a fucking tornado. How about spending next 6 months doing a flying witch for Halloween?
It's down right silly to add tornados to the game, when it doesn't even have wind.
It gives that nonsensical image of a tornado just besides a tree, and the tree is gently moving as if a light breeze was blowing its leaves.
Why couldn't we have precision farming 2.0? Or some other new mechanic that would enrich the game in every map?
I'm hoping to turn off the twisters as I only play on uk maps and of course we don't get twisters here 🤷♂️
These "tornadoes" are terrible, there's no wind or ground effects at all. there's no clouds connecting to top of funnel LOL there's no rain or hail during the tornado.. hell the tractors don't even get dusty let alone dirty from debris WHAT A FAIL GIANTS LOL. Just go play Just Cause 4 if you want a decent tornado experience, that one at least adds wind and sucks up debris. Instead of adding this totally useless gimmick, add some more detail to the water graphics. They add water farming crops to this years iteration but they didn't improve on the water effects what so ever driving through the water fields looks awful. ZERO splash effect AT ALL from the tires or tread hitting the water. Why not improve on that instead of adding this crap??
35 seconds ago? holy crap I'm early ;~) Hmmmm, I am wondering since it doesn't move vehicles will it affect the crop? What I mean is if I have a trailer full of wheat and drive through the twister will it suck the crop out of the trailer? Same for a trailer full of bales will it lift the bales off the trailer and then spin them? It would be funny to find bales on top of buildings and such :~)

Is this really necessary ? What next a hurricane? Drought? this a farming game. How about hoof and mouth occurring to our cattle ? I think it doesn't need to be in the game.
I only really play British maps, so this should not effect me at all. Hopefully.....

Thats...a really strange prioritization of game improvement...when you still can't customize your character, and the character looks like it has a spike up it's bum... This time they haven't managed to elevate the game with something that entices to buy, which is sad when they make a next gen version.
It looks so bad, no effect on the grass below.

Personally I think the addition of these "twisters" actually takes away from the realism of the game. In no way do they provide you with the same experience a real twister would. I think it would have added far more realism if giants had spent this time of floods and droughts, something that all farms suffer with in the real world. Hopefully we can turn this feature off altogether. Fortunately there are loads of other additions I can look forward to instead!
On the one hand, I'm excited for the new game, but on the other hand, I'm increasingly worried that it's just a bunch of gimmicks thrown in with features that modders have been adding for a couple years now.
The tornado is neat and will be cool to have on midwestern maps, but its 100% a gimmick. The terrain deformation, while appreciated, looks like it doesn't even affect vehicle performance. I was hoping irrigation would be more vital as well but I'm starting to think it'll just be exclusive to the rice fields, i.e. yet another gimmick.
I feel like this series needs an overhaul that will only ever come for PC players thanks to the arbitrary restrictions placed on modding by both the devs and console makers.
My final hope left is 4x maps on console, otherwise I'm waiting until the game is on discount for $20.
Yeah the tornado needs to go I mean it's just a dumb gimmick at this point doesn't even blow the tractor around it doesn't even blow any foliage so basically it's a useless thing that people will just turn off and never use they could put more effort into something else but no they decided to make a tornado that doesn't even act like a tornado
And on top of that he gets out and walks into the tornado nothing it happens it's practically clear sunny day yet a magical tornado spawns out of nowhere this definitely needs to be removed inscribed because no one in the community wants this

..... if this is what devs are working on. i def be skipping this game. they continue to go downhill since 2017 imo. that was the peak of the game.
and imo they just keep going on projects that dont really add much to the game aspect. but sales are doing well etc. so i cant argue that the math says i am probably wrong in that assessment..... and its not like its the only game out there so life goes on lol.
sorry to say but i am in the camp of "I hope this can be turned off" only because it reminds me of weeds and the change's to fertilization, its just a way to "make the game harder" by restricting income from crops, it seems like a half heated attempt at something that can be very serious. almost poor form from giants, trying to play with a very serious weather event that can and dose ruin lives and family's in not in good taste in my opinion. Thanks for the video though :)

Who would do ground work while a world wind was going on, FS 25 is definitely not for me, I said FS 19 was a bridge to far, with each version that comes along from FS 15 we end up with patch after patch and some of the things we had in FS 11 and FS 13 are still there, no thanks I am finished with Farming Simulator its alright for the kiddy-winkies and the Old ones who want to hanging on to there long past youth.👎👎

Your making to big a thing outta the twister. It's all good and well but if they've put more into that than the actual game play and animals. People have paid lots of money for it. Yes it's amazing but.🤷🏻♂️🫡👍🏼
