  • In this video, I talk through the upland hunting gear I'm using between me and my upland lab, Bruce. Full disclosure, this quail hunt took place in January and I'm only now getting to finish the video. We had a baby and those things tend to take a ton of time resources away from UA-cam. Here are the recommendations below:
    Dog pouch: amzn.to/3ylUQse
    CZ Woodcock G2 12ga: alnk.to/6TA4ivR
    Dog Vest: amzn.to/3LBxfqy
    TKLoop Hunting Vest: amzn.to/4cP2TwJ
    Dogtra Pathfinder 2: amzn.to/4fe3Ccq
I use a CZ Woodcock G2, a sportsman's exclusive that is considered a more entry model 12ga Over under for upland hunting. It's worked great for me as a quail hunting gun out in southern california, but I have noticed that the original finish was pretty bad. I stripped mine and ended up refinishing the entire thing in tru-oil which I'm really enjoying the results of.
I bought the dog vest that I show here to give Bruce some protection from sticks that he may be charging hard towards. This was a safety precaution for me as I've heard some horror stories about dogs impaling themselves.
The upland vest I use is a TKLoop, because I find great value in the function of it and don't have deep pockets. It's a good vest for the money.
Finally, I use the Dogtra Pathfinder 2 system because it pairs with my phone and utilizes the phone's GPS for coordinates. It has all the features and feels like more modern technology over a dedicated GPS unit. Some people gripe about the singular function on the controller button but I feel those are overcomplicating the system. What's more interesting to me is that my apple watch can show me where my dog is without me taking my hands off of my shotgun.
