    Do the two new RFA's with a tribute to the work done by the other commercially bought Diligence. Seen some other videos about them that are robot AI voices that get a lot of detail wrong.

    These ships are so cool looking. Much prefer them to the MV Asterix

      Asterix was a fast and low cost conversion solution that was welcome. We didn't have any oiler between 2017 and 2019.

      The Asterix surpassed expectations after entering service and if the Canadian government has any sense they will buy her instead of leasing her.

      How did the Soviet Navy quickly become as professional as it did post ww2? (Surface and submarine fleet)

      The vast majority of the Soviet surface fleet was made up of coastal patrol boats/corvettes. Their submarines, while capable rarely left home waters and usually only one at a time. It was actually rare for Soviet ships to head into the big blue of the open ocean, when they did, everyone paid attention. USN, RN, and a few ships form NATO allies were the only Navies that was consistently out at sea, operating in all conditions.

    ok just so people can actually confirm or help me with this. but did Spain help out or do anything in regards to these ships.
    i read or heard somewhere that Navantia helped out in some how but I am starting to get dubious about this.

    One thing I don't understand about modern fleet support vessels is the minuscule defensive armament. Given the size and strategic importance of such vessels I'd expect them to be much better protected, maybe not with the most modern/expansive weapons but at least a couple of short range SAM launchers and a 3-4" deck gun, maybe an ASW equipped helicopter as well.

    • @corsair6
      @corsair6 3 роки тому +4

      Any armament requires not only additional crew but, also additional systems, to include fire-control systems. Nothing unusual just adds to the complexity of things.
      USN replenishment/auxiliary vessels used to be armed, however, cost cutting efforts to included civilian mariners to fill manning gaps, thus the removal of any armament and redesignation to USNS status rather than commissioned status as a USS.
