Thank you so very much for sharing. This Irishman in New York was moved to tears of joy at hearing these great old songs. My Grandpa Pat Joe taught me dozens of old rebel songs as a lad and we used to sing them together on his John Deere tractor in Co. Leitrim. He was Old I.R.A. of the Leitrim Brigade and a rebel always. Oddly enough, I still remember them having all of our family and neighbours in their home on a Saturday evening, playing accordions, fiddles, a banjo, tin whistles, flutes, with Mam playing their piano in the parlour. Piles of sandwiches would be made, with pies baked that day, and a tub of bottles of stout and lemonade in the kitchen (my grandparents were Pioneers and although teetotal, they always offered beer to the neighbours), and everyone dancing after the rug was rolled up and chairs and tables moved out of the way. We'd end with the Soldier's Song and say goodnight to all and head home. Been here in New York since I arrived at 16 years in 1977, sailed here alone and scared to death while at sea, to live with my aunt and uncle in Brooklyn, two of the kindest souls you could ever meet. All these many years later and still the music of my beloved homeland still moves me to tears with their beauty and my happy memories of my people, my friends, and my beautiful Ireland. God bless.
I've known most of the songs played here for over 50 years, and I've never heard some of them played as marches. A totally new, in my experience, take on them. I'm not sure that slow ballads like Kevin Barry and James Connolly work well as marches, I can't imagine stepping out to such poignant songs, but I do love the effect.

I remember this band had a singer named Rosemary McAloone who recorded a great version of a song called "The dancing in Glenrone". I had a tape of it, lost it, and haven't heard the song in over 30 years. I'm wondering is that tape still available.
