Question: I have a 1999 Acura TL 3.2 and I had a shop mechanic replace my alternator and serpentine belt. Immediately after the repair my power steering pump made a lot of noise and the power steering fluid pumped out the top of the reservoir... The mechanic said this was a mere coincidence. He said the the power steering pump and belt are independent from the serpentine belt. Is that true? It seems very odd/suspicious that this wasn't an issue until the moment the put on the serpentine belt/new alternator and started the car... Thanks

It looks like they ripped you off by over filling the reservoir to pressure bust and or loosening the power steering pump to take away grip and cause screeching.

The same crap happened to me today with my 99 Acura. Took it to my mechanic because the car shut off. Apparently the alternator bracket broke. Got him the new part only to receive a call from him saying that the power steering fluid is shooting out and it's making noises. I had none of those issues prior, no screeching or fluid leaking. He tells me I need a new pump and $90 labor. I had him take out some fluid to the lower level and took my car home smh
