Yeah I didn’t realize about US 59 until after I uploaded it. US 71 looks like it runs through the city up Stateline Rd. but is concurrent with US 59 north of I-30.
Right across the highway from the Kings hwy exit used to be the joy twin movie theatre which was the first theatre in America where Smokey and the Bandit was first shown- I was there on the first opening day and came back to see it again the next weekend. On down the highway where Summerhill rd. is, there is a park called Springlake Park, there is a movie that involved this park- the movie is called -“ The Town That Dreaded Sundown”, it is a true story about a serial killer who killed multiple people in and around Texarkana and who was never caught, he killed a couple of people in the park. There is also another movie ( 3 actually ) that is a true story about Big Foot called- “ The Legend Of Boggy Creek” that is about a town on the Arkansas side named Fouke. We called him the Fouke Monster. - just a little trivia information for all of you about Texarkana, you all should check out these movies.
