Honestly, no genre even comes close to Thall for me right now. Furthermore, no Thall touches VildhJartA and at least a large portion of HLB. Of the Ashen singles, Instill and Labyrinthian top it for me. This one comes in a super close third, and Linger didn't resonate with me. Not yet anyway. Passage is definitely good enough, that I went on their merch store and pre-ordered three of their shirts this morning. I can't say I've been as stoked for an album release since Masstaden under vatten.
I feel like HLB is kinda moving away from just thall. It’s still thally in parts but it’s clear that buster is trying to branch out and really take everything in a new direction. There is literally nothing that sounds anywhere close to this. Buster’s take on thall sounds quite different to Daniel and Calle’s stuff, I’m looking forward to hearing this album. Btw just get a regular guitar and swap the strings. He plays a lefty guitar with the strings swapped.

He plays a custom built lefty guitar now, but he learned that way on a right handed guitar flipped upside down.
