It is their little happy place and state of being. Also MoSheng easily catches the flu, walking barefooted is one way of catching a cold. When they first got married, and were sleeping in separate rooms, YiChen knew to check into her often during the night while she was sleeping to tuck her back into her blanket that she often kicks off. As for the hair, YiChen is VERY possessive and controlling... he wants her to keep her hair long, that way, there is more of her. Cutting her hair without his permission and cutting it short, then there is less of her for him to love. It's always in the little things in in every relationship that make the couple unique. Dont compare the series with the movie, the movie adaptation was very poor as YangMi failed to interpret the character of ZhaoMoSheng as well as Tiffany Tang. MoSheng returned to China as a shadow of her former self ... 7 years of lack of confidence, 7 years of deliberately keeping to herself, not talking to others as her english is poor and she would often be ridiculed, so she stopped talking to others etc ... YangMi maintained being 'sunshine', she even showed of her pride and argued against YiChen, even tried to seduce him... she got the whole character wrong~ that's why YangMi's version was criticized by the book lovers so much.
