The advantages of silver cars. Mines been sat still for a week and looks filthy 😭

@@be1441 I know the struggle. I have owned a black car a while back. I now have one of the most 'hated' sports car on the internet (Chrysler Crossfire) and I will always try to buy silver cars from now on. I like how it shows the sharp lines in the design. It has a pop up electronic spoiler too. Love that.

@@sophisticated I've always said darker colors take more work but shine way better when properly waxed! I had a silver boxster which was nice, now have a black boxster and get way more attention. It just stands out more. Silver is nice though.. 2nd choice. Dark blue boosters look great though.

@@streaydog019 my car in black doesn't stand out at all. It hides all the lines. The boxter isn't angular. It doesn't have any sharp lines. It's smooth and curvy. Very different than my car. I literally have to wash the exterior my car once every other month. I prefer low maintenance.

@@sophisticated How long have you had a black car? Black shows dirt first. Waxed and clean it shines like no other...I had Lambos pull up to me trying to race in my black car.. just saying..owned both..

It’s a lovely example and as you say the handling is sublime. Pretty much the best there is, 911 included. Couple of thoughts but entirely subjective. I’d get rid of the red S, just cheapens the car, and i’d get the steering wheel properly cleaned, it’s very shiney, ie covered in dirt and grease. A good clean would being that back to factory mat finish

Mid engined cars are fantastic at changing direction and you can push them really far the problem comes when you exceed that grip and they change direction really quickly.
Thanks to Porsche's driver aids I guess that's less of a problem now but on my rev 3 MR2 is was still a sobering sensation when it let go and you had to catch it just enough to make it straight and not so much you went into a tank slapper.
Spun that car twice in 7 years.
    Scary stuff.

I recently bought a similar one (987.1 3.2) as my first Porsche - I am very pleased with it overall, it does feel a bit flat at low revs as per your other video but sounds incredible at high revs and is a lovely mechanical old-school thing to drive, and as you say laughably grippy. The cup holders though............ They don't fit even the smallest of the 3 typical coffee cups from somewhere like Starbucks, and none of my sports drinks bottles. They look nice, but what are they for? Not on my top 5 :-)

You can pick up a gen 2 steering wheel for £100 only problem is the airbag which is going to cost you at least £500 if you can get hold of a second hand one .. better putting cash towards your ipd plenum and gt3 82 mm throttle lol
Good video , good you got the 3.2 and not the 3.4 gen 1 seen too many stories about bore score issues, I was debating what to get after my 987.1 2.7 , very nearly bought a 3.4 gen 1 and going more towards a 3.2 , but in the end pushed the boat out for a 3.4 dfi gen 2 ands it’s epic , looked at 997 3.8 gen 1 but they are hit and miss with engine issues and did consider the 997 3.6 gen 1 over the 3.8 , I thought longer and hard about the different options , and for my money I’m sure I made the right decision, dfi engine all the way but 997s are over 30k
Before you start spending too much money on this car consider putting the money towards a 987.2 3.4 gen 2 , there are a few on autotrader now for 14k up and don’t forget it’s the same 3.4 engine as 991 cayman r , cayman gts , boxster gts , 987 spyder , just in a lower state of tune ..

Tomos John, it is dated as the design is now 15-years old! You compare that to a Z4 of that era & a lot of other cars, then you'll see dated. It actually looks better in black, more modern & chic! The white dials with white LEDS, all lit up with a blue LED tinge, looks quite cool at night & actually quite modern. The backlight brightness also varies according to how dark it is.
You also have to remember that this is a proper sports car & not some souped-up hot hatch masquerading as a sports car! All Porsche sports car interiors are designed with function & not gimmick in mind. If it doesn't assist driving then it's redundant because it's dead weight!
Where the interior scores highly is in quality & build; there's nothing like it! The day you actually test drive one, you'll have an awakening because you'll realise the leather & seat quality, how even at 15-years old the car still feels solid, taught & doesn't rattle; almost like new. Then how the driving & seating position, is just well, perfect; everything thought out with precision & passion.
If you want a driving experience of a proper sports car, one completely different from most other cars that's totally engaging, rewarding & exciting, with handling like it's on rails & more smiles per miles; this is it!
If you want useless gadgets, a dashboard which resembles a child's games console, a car which is compromised in every way because it's trying to hide it's underpinnings from being a standard saloon, then this isn't for you & you'd probably be well advised to buy a Ford Fiesta or Focus ST or similar.
Two things for sure though, in 5-years those cars will feel loose & rattle like a bag of nuts & bolts & also, they'll devalue badly. Most Porsche sports cars hold value much better.
