Thank you for making this video, very in depth. I have a 2000 3.4l Impala, it starts to crank, then dies. After making sure the battery was good, I took the starter out, and had AutoZone check it, and it was "good". Put it back in, watched your video, I made a jumper wire and checked the starter solenoid and it didn't change anything. I had power to everything, I just replaced the starter and it cranks better than ever. So I lucked out this time.
I had this problem for months then if just would not start for hours sometimes... just turning the key 1000 times before it started...left it running for TWO DAYS so I could work, went crazy for a week. New ignition switch new key cylinder still did it.... turned out to be a dead cell in the battery.... take your battery to auto zone have it tested
Even after replacing this part my BCM keeps getting fried. I had already replaced the ignition switch and ignition lock housing with an AC Delco part and Doorman on the big thing that it sits inside. This is my 4th BCM. I suspect a bad ground to the PCM. There is also some mouse activity inside the airbox. I didn't notice any big damage the mouse did.
You know it's been 6 years since I made this video honestly I can't remember but typically that's how the passlock system works You usually just replace that Tumblr assembly
I want to test my pcm to see if it’s faulting because all of the same areas tested positively like in your video and I just replaced an ignition switch with passlock. How do I go about testing the pcm for signals going to or coming from it?
I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu and I lost my key to start it but I have a key to unlock it and it starts it and then shuts right off what can I do to get it started besides get a new key
There is no way to bypass the passlock,... you'll need to replace the keys, tumbler/cylinder and the passlock module. They are cheap and most auto stores have them.
QUESTION. I started my car in my garage with all the doors shut to cancel ambient noise to make sure it ran good. I smelled something funny so i went to tail pipe/ exhaust and next thing you know my mom woke me up by slapping me. She is 400 pounds so her hand is huge and it hurt like crazy. Apparently i had been out for 30 min. Do you know why my exhaust smelled funny? Could it be a banana in the engine? Should i send car to junk yard?
@@LucifersDeathSquad You need a new Catalytic Converter. If you have a rotten egg smell coming from the exhaust that is a sure sign. Depending on where you live some automotive technicians charge $500 or more for installation.
Just get rid of this POS and go find a Honda. It doesn't matter whether you buy American, German, Italian, British, or whatever, once you buy a Honda, you'll never drive anything else. 250K of absolutely trouble free driving, typically, and another 100k with an occasional repair.

I use to could test from the relay but that stopped working. I tested starter yesterday and it passed, I can’t figure this out help
I have this problem will it also disable the fuel pump
Smell came from my tail pipe when it first happened with my car that would be of Zack same thing and I get a 2007

The relay with the jumper did you make that?
I think so i couldn't find one for sell if you have over the year please let me know
On the very last thing what does it mean if I do not have the right reading on the passlock wire??
Could be a number of things, but it's mostly a bad output from the bcm.
Do those 3 wires to the lock cylinder go to the bcm?

You said it's the passlock but didn't show if message center on cluster showed security?
Sometimes they can fail without displaying security lamp.
Did you ever get this car started I’m having the same problem
Yes. Replaced the passlock module and tumbler in this vehicle.
If you have the 5v at yellow but no 12v at white. Is it back to the fuse?
5, and 12 volts are supplied by the BCM. you will need to trace the power to the bcm to start..
Can you send me that schematic or share link please?
Where'd you get the test relay
All components in video are from the vehicle. Besides meter
The relay with the switch on it I believe is a matco tool.
What if I did 10 volts instead of 12?
BWAYY 10 volts at what point?
10 volts from the white wire that’s supposed to get 12.
Is the battery fully charged when your getting 10v? that's a bit low, but should still be fine.

Why are you so fucking stupid to ask this dumb as question? It has no relevance as do you!
@@marionbutler6865 - Thanks for the reply. Can you please help me and answer the question.
