As someone that had about 100 smaller bases I lost only about 11 of them, and the rest actually look better... going to just have fun coming up with new ideas and improving things.
I can't imagine the technical nightmare it is to update planet gen while maintaining peoples bases, but i feel there could be a solution that would protect peoples bases. Obviously this could cause some strange terrain glitches, but would be better than some players straight up having their bases buried. Or perhaps registered bases can be saved in an instanced world, apart from the current universe generation? I think they legitimately tried to keep base terrain as unchanged as they could. All of my bases are completely fine. Naturally, I think that it really depends on the planet, but it does seem to have done well even on planets with newer terrain.
I was pretty lucky with the planets I've built bases on but planets I was planning on building on have really changed. And for the worst lol. But hey at least theres new and more beauty to be found with this update :D
My favorite bioluminescent planet was affected and turned into an infested mess. I am very sad. I've checked most of my bases and can no longer find the bioluminescent planets with the teardrop palm trees... I hope they didn't not get rid of them. Your builds are always so beautiful, is there a way for us to visit them?
I think the devs should make a system where you get to rebuild your base for free...i.e you get to replace all the base components without needing resources, and perhaps get a few free components to bridge some unexpected gaps
Some of my bases are totally ruined. One of my favorites is on a Paradise Planet and they replaced the beautiful vegetation with ugly plants and now I have heat storms that wasn't happening before. I don't know about you guys but the game is crushing a lot. I hope they fix it with the next expedition update.
My home planet changed quite a bit and I was a little sad at first. I had named it Athena’s Grace, and it had pink grass that would glow at night, but now it’s orange and doesn’t do that. It’s not as pretty anymore… the water got an upgrade, that used to be orange, now it’s blue with pink shades. I decided that I wanted to still keep it Athena’s Grace, so I decided to make up some lore. I’m planning to name all the planets after Greek gods and goddesses, and the fiery planet in the center of the system is called Hephaestus’ Fury. I’m thinking maybe a war happened at some point, and something happened to change the grass from pink with bioluminescence at night to orange. I still need to iron out the details… Of note, one of Hephaestus’ Fury’s moons has bioluminescence now…

Thanks!
bro the ocean is so much better now, i wouldn't mind :)
My first base from Viridecent planet, green grass, blue water and sky, turned into a infested swamp
I only have one base but I put like 80 hours into it and thankfully its 100 the same.
damn the game looks so much better in general. time to hop back in i guess
I always backup my bases into files so I can keep them safe and even move them to different planets for when stuff like this happens
Thanks for the video. I have had multiple bases/planets ruined unfortunately. At least I know it's not just me :).
I've never played this befor purely because I play so many games but I think its time, thanks for the vid mate 😁👍
I think the devs should make a system where you get to rebuild your base for free...i.e you get to replace all the base components without needing resources, and perhaps get a few free components to bridge some unexpected gaps
Blue Cthulhu is gorgeous btw
@@alyssafaden9443 thanks its probably still my favourite. I still tinker with it
Some of my bases are totally ruined.
I still need to iron out the details…
Of note, one of Hephaestus’ Fury’s moons has bioluminescence now…
All my farms got fucked because I tend to build underground and it just replaced all the terrain in those bases.
