Quite interesting and educational. I feel there is room for improvement in these markets. These traders can form a powerful cooperative and acquire government backed loans to improve the market infrastructure, which appears to remain and could remain the same into the future. Livestock feed infrastructure, improved staging infrastructure, improved mobile banking system for transactions, hygienic eateries, transportation infrastructure etc. The market system can be enhanced to drive down prices and encourage easy entry into livestock business. Did I mention onsite slaughterhouse and storage with proper running water and electricity? A lot could be done without government intervention.

The government doesn’t care about the people or the markets unless they are all Muslims. Only the people can form these associations and in Nigeria, especially in southern Nigeria they have traditional economic or market associations from the ancient times still practiced today and headed by a female called an Iyaloja. Mother of the market. She is often a chief and part of the traditional council of kings, chiefdoms, or villages. The governor must at homage to these women if they want to win elections without rigging it anywhere in southern Nigeria (Yoruba land.) These associations can make demands off a political party before elections, asking for what they want. In Nigeria they aren’t organised politically besides being told who to vote for and the expectation to comply. Only education can change this, someone to teach them their rights and not get killed by the government for being a meddling busy body bee 🐝
