It's not how you look, it's how you look at yourself.
With or without makeup I was never attractive enough for my ex-husband or he thought I was trying to get hit on. Turns out he was a sociopath and narcissist so he projected. I used to believe him.Years after escaping him, I met my current husband and he loves me no matter what I look like.
Blessings to you, beautiful. I have almost the exact same story- spending too many years with a narcissistic sociopath, etc. It took me years of deep, relentless CBT combined with a LOTTTT of continual shadow work. The work never ends, but the benefits are not within words. The beauty is, and always has been a deep, innate presence within ourselves, non-contingent on any other person that was, or presently IS in our life. 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

@@doraga01 I don't think they were trying to say that younger people don't face big life decisions, nor were they trying to say that they are the only one having to struggle with making important decisions. They were just saying that they are older now and find themselves facing some difficult choices at this time of there life and Olivia's videos have always helped them

So many people I see with self esteem issues and insecurity about their appearance, and I end up thinking they look perfect and naturally beautiful, but I feel the the same way, so i can understand it is hard to love yourself sometimes
I stoped wearing makeup for more than a year and a half now. I don’t care what other think about it. I feel comfortable like this and that’s all that matters. My skin feels better and I love the way my skin feels without it. I take care of my skin with proper cleaning, serums, creams, vitamins and I don’t want to cover up anything.
I think many women feel this way more and more nowadays. And it’s great!🤗

For some odd reason I like being called a grown up child.
I truly believe that I have manifested this video into my life and I am totally blown right now. I believed that I have done most of my work about loving and accepting myself after a horrid history of self hatred and only a very few amount of work is left for me now. Haha, only to listen to you today and realise that the work is never close to being done. It’s like being on a journey to the stars, you never truly reach but you know you’re headed in the right direction. Wow. You have motivated and taught me to keep going. Keep understanding that working on myself is a daily thing. It’s not something I can just take a break from. It should be something I truly love to do. The questions you asked me left me speechless. I couldn’t point to the time I was not even a little bit focused on thinking about what I look like. There was no moment like that. That was so shocking. I probably have spent my entire life thinking about what I look like. Wow. I did not know that until this video. I am so happy to find this out yet so heartbroken. It’s perfect. I promise to start working on my self image and understand that this image is just a devil from the hell of my ego. I study ego and it’s manifestations a lot, always am trying to understand how it ruins the essence of everything but even knowing all that doesn’t help to practically apply the knowledge. Thankyou for the defeat you made me experience today. I failed so miserably and I’m so happy. Everything worthwhile I’ve ever achived or felt comes after a happy failure. Thankyou. You’re a God sent angel. I’ll probably remember this moment forever, the moment I realised that I really am beautiful and that I still haven’t accepted that. I pray this energy lasts forever. Ameen. This hits hard, I have a pretty severe form of body dysmorphia but the most free I have ever felt in regard of not thinking about hot I look it festivals and parties, where I can disconnect and just admire everything. I don't even think I am.... well, "ugly", but sometimes it feels like my brain want to sabotage that as well and I spiral pretty deep.
One of the parties, a girl came up to me, uninvited, tells me I look really beautiful and leaves and it stayed with me ever since, even if it was tiny and I don't even know her, so sometimes I like going back to that moment in my life because I truly enjoyed myself so much and felt so free, everything and everyone was so beautiful as well... Happy little memories.
I am moved by your admission of feeling fear of judgement for wearing makeup in a video meant to stress its non importance. It shows how multifaceted you are. How all of us are. Your empathy and vulnerability is so refreshing. Thank you, Olivia :) I admit I was just thinking that, “why does she wear it then?” But I myself have felt guilty for wanting to look cute, because in my attempt to run from feeling ugly the fear followed me no matter what decision I made, because I allowed it to take root in the foundation of my thinkings. And when the majority of my life’s actions are fear-based, makeup or no makeup, I will never like how I look. I could hire a master plastic surgeon and become more physically beautiful than anyone whose ever lived. But what’s the point if I don’t already feel I am beautiful?
You are right; there is no final product or any one definition of beauty. This makes sense to me the more time goes on and the more I learn of myself. Perhaps that understanding is a prerequisite for falling in love with yourself.
You are so beautiful, by the way. Truly, you have a presence that soothes souls and radiates your own unique love.

While stressing about makeup does not directly concern me, I still found this video helpful in a different and surprising way.
I am a guy in his late twenties working in the technology sector. While I like in my job, I have been worrying about how my performance compares to others and what others think of the fact that I am a sensitive person. I've been aware that these kind of thoughts aren't helpful, but this video helped me crystallize that this kind of thinking can be even damaging to one's self image. Finally, it is an excellent observation that how you see others has an impact on your perception of self!

I had been thinking about getting liposuction to make my jawline less chubby. I know that I'm beautiful how I am but the worry of being judged as ugly made me almost certain I wanted liposuction. But this video made me remember that changing how I look isn't going to make me happy or make me feel accepted. That that comes from yourself, regardless of what you look like. And I don't want to be someone who would judge someone else for a chubby chin or a soft jawline, but I've found myself doing just that because of how I felt about myself unfortunately.

As a 30 something guy i dont know if i speak for most men but i can speak for my friends. I hate Makeup. I hate it. Its smell, its texture, and the social ramifications of it. Women wear make up for orher women, not men.
No, women wear it for men too. Often more. Despite what some of them might claim, the majority of men will give preference to women wearing makeup treat them better. Many women have experienced the difference first hand.
We're also aware that what men often think of as "no makeup" is actually complicated "no makeup" "natural" makeup, which ironically is one of the most high maintenance looks and can take ages to do. Tends to be expensive too. A bad example...I remember years ago a couple of guys going on about how they don't like makeup and how more women should have my flatmate's natural look. However, my flatmate had spent an hour on her makeup and over half an hour on her hair, as she often did. Stuff like this makes it hard to believe men when they say they prefer no makeup until it's evident that he truly does.
There are men who genuinely prefer no makeup but they're in the minority.

Real. I don’t wear makeup ever. I know that when I take it back off, I’ll only see myself as uglier. I already feel ugly, so I’d rather just stay at the constant than go up and crash back down.
Also I'm really bad at applying make up. No matter what, at least one person laughs at me. I'd rather people assume I'm ugly than be laughed at for trying.

As a man I would like to echo what the majority of males here seem to be saying. Makeup is generally bad for you, undesirable by many of us. Sure the cosmetic industry wants you to feel insecure about yourself so they can loot your purse, but how the heck am I supposed to easily know if you are happy and healthy if you hide behind a toxic goo mask.
And lipstick, wtf, do you understand how completely libedo crushing that is, we would go out, my former wife felt she "needed" to put on lipstick, and I would immediately lose any interest in kissing her, why would I want to lick that gross junk. Yes I pickup on the signal of color and blood flow in your lips but because we got there naturally, wrestling, playing, singing, talking, making goofie faces at each other. I secretly question whether some part of some women's bitterness comes from years of gross smelling disgusting tasting lipstick and the bodies related sensory shutdown and need to detox, like when you go noseblind, but this probably shutdowns taste receptors too, not to mentioned interferes with the wonderful electrical conductivity, the bioelectric spark. Natural lips look normal to me.
If you would not eat it, it is probably not a good thing for you to "eat" by absorbing it thru your skin! Skin is a wonderful just as it is, all you need to do is do your best to eat and live healthy and occasionally help your skin lightly exfoliate it, automatically does the rest.
Natural skin is sexy, and we can see what is going on so we can better help you get and remain healthy. : )
