I was living in a hostel in singapore with few students from infonesia, malaysia, china and korea. Knowing that we came from indonesia, one korean friend one day visited me in my room bringing some packages of shin ramyeon. Then, like in those drug transaction scenes in gangster movies, he put all those ramyeons on my desk. "I know you brought some indomies from indonesia. Heres the deal. You're right about Indomie - I lived off them at uni in Australia - a box of 36 packs was less than 8 packs of crappy Maggi noodles. If you're feeling rich, throw in some spring onions too. That said, these days (some two decades later) I still eat Indomie - but I get the Hot and Spicy - it has a better flavour... and it's hot and spicy!

Yeah Laksa beats out Shin Ramyun on my Top Ten lists any day - not to say that Shin Ramyun is bad by any means, but I've tried well over 3,000 different instant noodle varieties.
Have you tried the laksa in Singapore? If not, you’re missing out. Well not just from Singapore of course. Laksa has very clear differences in quality and some of the most obscure places have the best laksa. By obscure I just mean non tourist spots. Just follow the singaporean crowd. The laksa in such places trumps instant laksa any day.
@@facetiousmarbles3539 I would absolutely love to try Laksa in Singapore and more in Malaysia - I had Asam Laksa in Penang I absolutely loved! Would love to do a Laksa tour!
Asam laksa in Penang is actually one of the best, depending on the place. There're different types of laksa in general though. Like curry laksa and Sarawak laksa. Malaysia has lots of good laksa.
Yeah, it's one of my favourites. The brand itself has a couple varieties, my favourite being the curry. The chili crab is also up there, but it's more of a tomato flavour. Interestingly: Several videos mention when they try it, that it's an instant noodle they could be served in a restaurant and not even notice, that's how high the quality is. The most (not so famous) instant noodle conniseur Tontantin, of youtube, with over 6000 instant noodle reviews has given prima-taste noodles some of the highest ratings on his review journey. The downside of them is only the 7minute noodle cooking time. In denmark, where I live, one pack goes for about 20-25DKK (less than a burger from mcdicks), which is actually a pretty good price, especially because you could share it with a friend and it would still be a hella filling meal.
I've basically tried all instant ramen on the market myself, and there isn't much that can compete with it. Maybe a few tonkotsu&yakisoba varieties from japan, but a lot of those varieties are pretty awfull aswell. edit: and just to the people in the video: shin ramen sucks dick, the greatest thing about those noodles is the packaging
I totally agree with you on the pricey part! But it really almost does taste like authentic Laksa. It's like 2.50 SGD per packet. But if you like the laksa taste, go for it by all means! It's slightly similar to the curry broth but that coconut milk really brings out the flavour. However, if you guys come to Singapore, be sure to try some really authentic Laksa. You won't regret it! Yum! :)
Today I had Indomie Migoreng for the first time and it was love at the first bite. I’m ordering more, they sell it at the Asian grocery store. I’m from Lima, Peru. 🙌🏻
i know not much about Peru, but i love your country because of one thing: your people play my favorite game (dota 2). There are a lot of peruvian players in the dota 2 pro scene. And i'm happy about that. especially that the game is kind of dead in the region of America. Peruvians save the region.
Laksa is EVERYTHING. I've lived in Singapore for quite long(though I'm Korean), so I'm always craving for Laksa. Last time I went on a trip to SG, I got like 50 packs of laksa and ate it within a month lol
@@Framdify Place of origin: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore. Just because the word is malay doesn't mean it comes from Malaysia. Stop claiming everything.

Oooh the rendang is so good. I was so surprised when they said they hadn't had it, i'm an Aussie and I just assumed it was everywhere lol, those are the cheapest and most common instant noodles you can get in Australia
@@gabberdoo2180 It's good but actually the taste is milder than the original one we have here in Indonesia. I already tried the one that they sell in Sydney. The taste were definitely altered to a milder one.
Our whole family are Jollybeans, and we found indomie at a market near us and were so excited because of this video. It is very tasty, but a little spicy for our 4 and 6 year olds. Also, my boys are huge fans of Juno. Keep up the good work making fun and positive content!
I'm Korean, but I have been living in Indonesia for about 10 years before. There, I tried the Indonesian one. I have to be honest, *I still love it more than the Korean ones.* And one tip. Add some egg to it, it just gets *BETTER!*
Fun fact: Singaporeans seldom eat this because we can buy a non-instant laksa for just a bit more money. But we do eat this when we're overseas and craving for laksa!
Princes Will Be Kings wow this is mind blowing for me lol. It’s just I can find the instant Singaporean laksa here in Indonesia, but I always find it so expensive for instant noodle price😂 I can legit eat non-instant ramen or udon in Japan ramen or udon noodle restaurants for similar price! That’s why I haven’t tried it till now. Oh but I have tried laksa tho, in a couple of Singaporean restaurants, yet I haven’t tried the instant version. I think that says something about the price lol
As a malaysian even i myself dont like the texture of the vermicelli noodles. It feels like im sipping thin ropes instead. But to me the best ramen is Penang White Curry noodle. That is just omG
Those Indomie noodles are so good. No joke, I used to be addicted to them, I used to have 2-3 everyday. It got to the point where I had to give them up bcause it was affecting my health
Yes, Indomie is hella addictive that's why I need to keep reminding myself to only eat it once or twice a month. But when I do, I have 2-4 packs in one go. 😂🇮🇩 Ps: I think you need to put all the brands on the thumbnail for more views.

Just to let you guys know - you can get indomie in many tescos in London, and as for the Laksa, its in most asian grocery stores around London (Soho Chinatown, H mart and Wingyip) and also on online delivery (i.e. Amazon)! I live off both of these noodles! You might be interested to know that indomie is ~40p and the laksa is ~£3. :)
i kinda feel that the whole 7-11 not doing anything to the image of the Japanese ramyeon is kindof a cultural difference thing.. in western countries like the US or European countries I think 7-11 has a somewhat bad image compared to 7-11 in the East. bcs if you go to 7-11 in East Asian countries they are literally heaven??? like one of the things u must do if you go to Japan is go to the 7-11 and try their food! bcs they're famous for being really good! so when i saw that it's a JAPANESE ramyeon collab between 7-11 AND A MICHELIN RAMEN PLACE????? i'm all sold. lol
@@anjikanjik I'm guessing they probably are used to it, that's why. I've been to both Japan and Korea (I'm not from an East Asian country) and the convenience stores in Korea (GS25, 7-11, CU) are pretty comparable to the ones in Japan! Great food, great service!

Sprinkle some crispy fried shallots on the indomie and you have a bangin' meal. Back when I was a student in university, indomie was my cheap comfort food whilst staying in my university's hostel. Need a quick breakfast before an exam? Indomie. Hungry at 4am after an intense study session? Indomie. Had a breakdown from studies? Indomie and netflix. Indomie solves all my problems
One of the best ones that you guys have missed is Demae Iccho from Hong Kong, but out of the lot I would totally pick mi goreng. And Ollie you're quite cultured with the Marty Scorsese reference haha!!
I was studying in the UK n living with the host family, I took few japanese cup noodles with me , my host saw it and got me sum UK cup noodle from Tesco, I tried one and never touched the other one again...... /..\
The most popular ramen in China is "Kangshifu" brand "Hongshao Niuroumien". The one you guys ate, i'v never heard of it when i was in China for 7 years. That Japanese noodle, i wish i have a chance to taste it.
I always eat indomie and I'm Singaporean. I never tried the laksa but after your reviews I think I will give it a try. Really glad you guys like Singapore's instant noodle laksa. Im super glad that Ollie prefers the Singapore laksa over everything else.
I specifically go to a muslim mart just to buy packs of mi goreng here in the philippines it's my go to. Top it with fried egg = perfect. P.S. i eat it with bread "sounds weird to westerners" haha
Indomie Mi Goreng IS sold in the UK well in London anyway. Morrisons stock them and all Oriental supermarkets do too, even in different flavours for around 45p each packet. One of my favourite instant noodles served with a fried egg sunny side up on top takes it to another level! :P
Love the immediate "ew 7-11" lol In Japan 7-11 is pretty legit. It's still a convenience store (konbini) but their quality is SO far removed from anything at a convenience store in North America or England. So it's a pretty solid pairing.
@@kkongie2290 Yeah, those noodles need to be cooked abit longer bcs they're not normal instant noodles. Vermicelli noodles are no fake, even i have to soak in water for at least 30 mins just to make the noodles soften before cooking for fried noodles (beehoon goreng)
As a Malaysian when I saw that title, I was like " Malaysian instant noodles had got to be in that,". And I was glad to see 1 in the list, only to be disappointed when it was the vermicelli ones. To be honest, the rice vermicelli version is not the commonest instant noodles, although we certainly do eat them quite frequently in our cuisine, just not as instant noodles. Personally I never liked vermicelli with soup, although some will beg to differ. A good vermicelli needs to be soaked at least overnight in water before you cook it, hence I am not sure how it will taste like for the instant version. Malaysian instant noodles pride on their soup/ broth, which both of you have discovered. And the Singaporean Prima Taste brand is not your typically instant noodle, as it is NOT cheap, so kind of unfair to compare it with Indomie. We can get AUS 60c per indomie pack, whereas for the Singapore laksa you will be paying about AUD $5 per pack. And if I cook Sinagpore prima taste brand noodle, I would defintely add in fresh prawns, veges and dried tofu to make it more like a freshly prepared meal, as it is such a waste to not do that with all the good quality condiments they provide with the package. Indomie although cheap, it is still very tasty and hence well liked by students. Used to be my favourite (although unhealthy) cheapest dried instant noodles, but now I feel like Myojo Mee Goreng (from Singapore too, costs slightly more) rivals it. I usually add a sunny side up egg with these. Japanese instant ramen are generally good, I havent come across any bad tasting ones. Chinese instant noodle for me is hit and miss, and largely depends on your palate. Overall Asian instant noodles are way better than Western, as we have been doing noodle soups for many years and it is very much part of Asian cuisine.
What? Prima laksa at aus 5 per pack? That is a ripped off. What happened in Aus? I had seen in Singapore cold storage selling at $9.50 per big packs, which consist of 4 individual pack. That round up to aus 2.50? Wouldn't paid aus 5 for instant noodle.
Shouldn't they eat Maggi instant noodles though? I mean I'm a Malaysian. Tbh, I don't even know that instant vermicelli exist. Mostly because I've never tried instant vermicelli before. Lol
after watching this and reading the comments, i am so craving indomie. all i have to do it get out of bed and they’re in the pantry. cmon charles, you can do it.

I feel like it's not fair comparison when Japanese ramen clearly much more expensive than the rest. Laksa also the most expensive SG instant noodle there. China noodle and Indomie probably a cheapest one.
@@nunanagajugeo9499 in terms of instant noodles pricing, it is pretty expensive, like shadow moon said, its basically $2.16 per packet? When you compare it to other brands which cost like $3'ish for a packet of 5

I knew that indomie wouldn’t win because the other noodles are more complex in terms of flavor like seafood, laksa etc whereas indomie mie goreng original flavor is the most basic flavor (soy sauce). I personally wouldn’t pick the original flavor BUT indomie has way wayyy more flavor, *better* options. I feel like I wanna send you guys my favourites😭😭 oh and I don’t say this because I want indomie to be the best instant noodle for you guys or something, I just want to show you that there are more of indomie that you guys should try out😂

It look like a lot of the ones they try are from my top ten list
Asam laksa in Penang is actually one of the best, depending on the place. There're different types of laksa in general though. Like curry laksa and Sarawak laksa. Malaysia has lots of good laksa.
@@LightKeyDarkBlade absolutely - Penang was full of Laksa as Hokkien Mee
that laksa from singapore is good i've try once, but it's pricey 1 laksa noodle = 18 Indomie Goreng
Yum! :)
I was looking for the brand but they don't seems to sell them here in the philippines. I really want to try it. haha

Laksa is EVERYTHING. I've lived in Singapore for quite long(though I'm Korean), so I'm always craving for Laksa. Last time I went on a trip to SG, I got like 50 packs of laksa and ate it within a month lol

Just omit the chilli sauce pack and your kids shoud be able to it it
I'm Korean, but I have been living in Indonesia for about 10 years before. There, I tried the Indonesian one. I have to be honest, *I still love it more than the Korean ones.* And one tip. Add some egg to it, it just gets *BETTER!*
Yeah definitely aggre with that, i won't have/eat an indomie unless i had eggs as well

i don't like korean noodles,it's too spicy i don't know why my family like it and say it's not spicy , and added more dry chili wtf.
Indomie seleraku
LoL your actually know how to cook that noodle with some egg and that it
Fun fact: Singaporeans seldom eat this because we can buy a non-instant laksa for just a bit more money.
I'm just wondering if they ever tried real laksa in Singapore. I mean, the kind you get at a hawker center.
Ummm, I've never actually craved laksa. More like the normal bak chor mee and especially CHICKEN RICE

I'm surprised by Josh, someone who is invested a lot into Korean, and overall Asia, that he was bewildered and found vermicelli noodles weird.
I think they undercooked them, my mom gets so peeved when certain restaurants undercook those noodles. Hard noodles are a no no
@@kkongie2290 Yeah, those noodles need to be cooked abit longer bcs they're not normal instant noodles.
I can back that up on the Singaporean Prima Taste Laksa, that shizz so ex you better add stuff to it. It was made for it.
Should be Maggie, the representative of Malaysia's instant noodle
Shouldn't they eat Maggi instant noodles though? I mean I'm a Malaysian. Tbh, I don't even know that instant vermicelli exist. Mostly because I've never tried instant vermicelli before. Lol
@@QillaSzaqi yeah i am kind of insulted they used that to compete in the world cup like wtf where is maggi

after watching this and reading the comments, i am so craving indomie. all i have to do it get out of bed and they’re in the pantry. cmon charles, you can do it.

Fun fact: mie goreng sold locally have different types of chilli . those sold in java island have chilli sauce, while other islands have chilli powder instead.. i wonder which version of mie goreng that you guys had...
Australian ones have chilli sauce
I enjoy the chilli powder MORE as in Sumatra and Kalimantan than that java island version. :(
wow i didnt know this wkwkwk
I'm not in java but we have the chilli sauce one here for as long as I remember
I feel like it's not fair comparison when Japanese ramen clearly much more expensive than the rest. Laksa also the most expensive SG instant noodle there. China noodle and Indomie probably a cheapest one.
Good point
is laksa expensive? i mean expensive-expensive? at a local price not as an export
@@nunanagajugeo9499 Very expensive. It costs $10.90 for a 5 pack compared to $2 for Indomie's five pack. Even the Malaysian one is cheaper at $3
@@nunanagajugeo9499 in terms of instant noodles pricing, it is pretty expensive, like shadow moon said, its basically $2.16 per packet? When you compare it to other brands which cost like $3'ish for a packet of 5
True... 👍
those Indomie ramen...yes! here in Malaysia, we as a student always had those ramen! cuz it's cheaper than the Penang Hokkien Ramen! for me, Penang Hokkien ramen is DABOMB!!! even though it's so expensive but yeah it'll make you crave it soooooo much~ btw, you can get that in ramen noodle if you don't like the vermicelli noodle...and I would love to recommend you guys to try out the Mamee Chef Lontong!!!! It taste amazing!!!!!!
It's so weird to think I watched this video 4 years ago, have been watching K.E since before Jolly, and am still watching every upload of both channel today.
신라면음...별로여..진라면 국물이 훨씬맛있음
Indomie Mi Goreng is the best ever. My mouth always waters when I'm about to eat it. I eat it twice a month because of the msg but when I do, it's 2 packs for sure. It's the best instant noodles ever.
Dude, u should get the JUMBO packs as well, each pack is equal to 1 and a half of the normal pack, try it!!! xD
Have you tryed their other flavours?
@@Juuk-D Nope. What are the other flavors?
uner90 Omg we got shiz ton of flavors lol
@@vallerydo lol ok. Will check them out for sure!
OMG. I want to try all of these! (Except maybe the Chongqing. I'm weak and I can't handle Sichuan spice). I have some Indomie Mi Goreng. Going to go cook some for myself now. Haha. :D
Where do you live
I only have indomie once a month
As a Singaporean I'm proud of the instant noodles but I'm too broke to even try that instant noodles but I would willingly spend loads of money for the most spicy Korean instant ramyeon hahaha
여러분들은 지금 라면을 한국인처럼 후루룩 먹는 영국인들을 보고계십니다 ㅋㅋ
You should try the entire variety of Indomie lol we got lots of different flavors and 9.9/10 all are delicious.
... Tho the amount of msg would be hazardous lmao but you really should try the other flavors.
I live in Turkey and in here we have Indomie to but there is no msg in them 😂

You guys are missing out on the Taiwanese brands, our most famous instant noodles come with REAL BEEF CHUNKS in a big pouch!!! It's Mikey Chen's favorite instant noodle brand.
I'm so mad that the local asian supermarkets are ALWAYS sold out of the frozen bowls of niu rou mian. They may cost $5 each, but I could live off of them, especially with extra pickled mustard greens. :
Baneicorn here in australia they actually sell it in major supermarkets but its costly tho
Whats it called ?
Holy shit, the Taiwanese brand you're talking about is hands down my all-time favorite type of instant noodles! They also come with a small packet of oily chili paste that helps amp up the flavor of the broth and HOLY SHITBALLS why is it not available in the grocery stores in my neck of the woods? Uni-President, if you're listening, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE start carrying your products throughout the U.S., especially South Texas!!!!
@@MrsMiiix3 I think its the 滿漢大餐 (man han feast) brand
Going instantly to Amazon and saving some of these !
You need a runny fried egg w/ Indomie!! The runny yolk will coat the noodles and help bring the saltiness down, but add more texture to the noodles!
So true
I poach the egg in the cooking noodle water. Perfect
I feel like I wanna send you guys my favourites😭😭 oh and I don’t say this because I want indomie to be the best instant noodle for you guys or something, I just want to show you that there are more of indomie that you guys should try out😂
sometimes I get confused when I want to buy Indomie because there are so many flavors.. 😂
@@crazycarrot8126 mie goreng and curry is the best one. soto, bakso and ayam special is also great, but might hard to get outside of indonesia
