I was there for both Jerry and Bobby & the midnites. It poured rain after Bobby came on. Jerry did a superb night they drove old dixie down, I was 20 years old oh my.
Was there,on the way my buddies 74 Monaco transmission gave out,all 6 of us hitchhiked to the show.Leaving in the pouring rain in a pick up truck soaked to the bone,at the time I was 19,could hardly get out of the truck after 4 hours.Great fffin show though!!!!!!!!
The tribulations were always worth it. Being young and dumb never helped matters much. We had a nitrus tank($) several in fact. My buddy being as smart as he was. The rest of us have to take responsibility for this also. We were leaving Deer Creek and heading for St Louis, or Chicago, or Memphis Kansas City? Who really knows. Could figure it out pretty easy but I'm lazy this morning and that's not exactly relevant to the story. What is though is the tanks in the car and driving down the highway still definitely feeling the affects of probably 10 or 15 of those little square pieces of paper. That's how we rolled back then. Seriously entirely enter other realms of existence, consciousness as the Grateful Dead kindly find gently escorted you to the brink of insanity with the most beautiful music. The music is what kept you from leaving this realm permanently. It's like tying a rope around your waist and entering the big light pocket/ doorway, like in the movie Poltergeist. The Dead was the rope that kept you from being completely lost into that world but still being able to safely explore..but what was I talking about? Oh yeah, the nitrus tanks and tripping hard driving down the highway and inhaling balloons while driving. Very smart you know? Looking back it's save to say I was grateful alive that's for sure. Couldn't even conceive that concept. Luckily we simply spun out and lost all 4 tires and ending up softly landing into a ditch. if the God I know and love today wasn't looking out for my young and dumb ass then Idk what to say to anyone who choices not to believe in this loving God. Also not the point though, but I always gotta give a shout our to our loving creator. How stupid and crazy can you be you know... That same night I was petting someone's dog through the side door of a van. There was like 8 people all sitting inside and a dog. I was reaching in the van and scratching under his chin completely zoned out and still tripping (before the insanity on the highway) all of the sudden dude yells out "yo wtf are you doing to my dog?" I was stunned! Kinda didn't even realize he was actually talking to me. I quickly began to put together what was happening. Apparently the perverted dog saw an opportunity to take advantage of a dude that was barely conscious and decided to slyly turn his body without me noticing so in affect I was suddenly rubbing his fucking balls. The dog got me. Humiliated me in front of all these strangers. To this day those people are probably like "hey remember that psycho that was all rubbing up on pervies balls in the parking lot at deer creek?" "Yea what a freak". You're wrong man, it wasn't like that at all. Your fucking dog took advantage of ME!! Not the other way around.
Hey now..I was there too my friend.. friggin ah right killer show..right on .. remember how wide open shit was then .not a cop to be seen.. Bill Kreatzman on drums
So lucky to have this as my first of countless JGB shows! Super tight! The band was on it the entire show! Every song smoked! It simply cannot get any hotter than this! This JGB show and GD's Barton Hall 5-8-77 are my two all time favorite shows ever.

Whatever I've heard from this tour, where Billy fills in, is outstanding. This is no exception.
I believe that’s due to the chemistry believe the two
Billy is hands down the best drummer I ever heard play with JGB. Jerry is on fire here, therefore this smokes.

Super stoked Lucky, LUCKY

Jerry Band with Billy on Drums ..Killing IT!!!!
JGB played first,Bobbie and the midnights played 2nd,in the pouring rain. One of the best shows. Thanks!
I saw Bobby and the MIdnights three times. Seems the order should have been reversed after listening to this.
Now, that's some excellent Jerry jammin!
I taped in 1983 2 26 and 27 both really hot shows.
Outstanding version.

anyone else catch the Row Jimmy.
I rolled onto the last oblivious place on earth.
Killer version from a great show. Is your YT username a reference to the Norman Blake song? If so, well played. Incredible, sadly obscure tune.
nice post.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is my favorite Jair band tune..Even if it's a cover. Is it? Idk. No matter
Yes, it's an old folk song. Jerry didn't write it.
