To people in the comments telling me that ZZZ and HSR are worse, 1:59 addresses this. Yes they’re worse, but this isn’t about them, as I say when u watch the vid
8:20 sad to say but kaveh is my favourite character of all time of all media and I feel like half of his fans just say he’s a baby girl and a twink not really looking into his story and lore which sucks I’m not saying you have to be a lore nerd to like a character I’m saying you should think about when you say a character is a uwu gay femboy without looking into his lore 😔 I could rant about how I hate soe Kaveh fans but I’ll spare you the time 😭
The arguments of Kaveh and Alhaitham is a conflict between opposing ideologies and thoughts, such as altruism, selfishness, individualism and collectivism, etc. But the fandom will only focus on the "urduh Twink urduh Mommy" "dIvOrCed cOuPle" and then complain about sexualization like "Eww gooner game" thing, when they can't even hear the word "roommate" without thinking about s*x I'd rather deal with Kaveh haters than his fans, I've been called homophobic and ableist several times, and that I don't read the lore or "hEaVly iMpliEd" or "It's CoDed" if I say anything about Alhaitham and Kaveh, but these ppl just can't separate the characters. I don't think it's "yaoi fanservice" ppl just sexualize everything because roommate trope is constantly used for NSFW(same way that nuns and nurses are sexualized) and the bickering between the two is used for comedy cuz even the other characters like Collei and Sethos says it's entertaining to watch.
@ I agree with you completely you said it so much better that my comment 😭 I don’t ship any Genshin ships but I don’t think alhaitham and kaveh loath each other because than alhaitham would just kick kaveh our but some fans do take that “not complete hatred” and take that all the way to lovers which makes no logical sense 😭
@@DragonMoth27 Kaveh and Alhaitham love each other, but whether you want to interpret that love as platonic or romantic is up to you. But I have to ask, why should their conflicting ideologies negate the potential for romance? Why should appreciating their deep and complex story mean you can't also ship them? Why can't you appreciate the story of Kaveh's self-destructive altruism and Alhaitham's self-centred philosophy and also see potential for romance? In fact I'd argue that they each enhance appreciation of the other. Alhaitham constantly makes exceptions for Kaveh - in A Parade of Providence he went out of his way to investigate Kaveh's father's death purely to bring him closure, he left those papers out for Kaveh to find hoping that Kaveh would see them and gain financial independence. He goes out to find Kaveh and bring him home when he's drunk. He brings him food home. Kaveh tells him to clean up his books and then if you read his mind with Nahida he thinks about cleaning up his books. Alhaitham's self-centredness goes out of the window when it comes to Kaveh. Genuinely how does the story change if you interpret their relationship as romantic? You can make the argument about shippers not understanding the characters, but that's the entire fandom with every character. There are people who think Xiao should've died in the Chasm and people who think Arlecchino is a good person. It's not about shippers vs. not shippers, it's about rampant media illiteracy in general.
@@bookswithike3256You can ship them as long as you don't reduce their characters to a top and bottom, a lot of other people just don't see the ship working, didn't need to write a wall of text.
fr, i have nothing against the ship but at the same time i do! they have a complex relationship, character dynamic and clashing ideologies but people reduce it to a romantic relationship and just see them as a "couple arguing"
@@Kuzamori I do see the potential in the ship, I might even go as far as to say I ship it (this kind of changes now and then, I would have to see their relationship evolve a bit before I am 100% on board). But I do hate the fact that shippers tend to simplify character dynamics to them being in love. Part of why I love their relationship is as you said, the clashing of their ideals. Plus Kaveh is a very interesting character but people just reduce him to the "feminine one" when he has so much more to offer than that. Side note, somewhat off topic but need to get it off of my chest: As someone who is bisexual (not that it should even matter) I also hate being told I'm homophobic for not shipping gay characters. Just because the ship is gay doesn't make it immune to criticism! I feel like shippers are just too eager to make couples rather than actually thinking about the relationship first. Not only ships, but people sometimes want to put characters in a box with the sort of relationship they have. For example, Neuv and Furina are lovers, are father and daughter, or whatever else people come up with. I don't feel any of that, their relationship is so much more interesting and complicated than that! Some ships I don't like: -Tighnari and Cyno, I just genuinely don't see them having that kind of chemistry -Child and Zhongli, Childe is so obviously a young man and Zhongli gives me old man vibes it's so gross -Venti and Xiao, not as bad as the above but for the same reasons. Xiao feels like a teenager. Venti, even though he acts a bit like a child sometimes we do know he's more mature than that, he definitely feels much older than Xiao, more like an uncle figure I just wish I could talk about the characters and their relationships further than "he's so bbg" "they're so married couple coded" or whatever.
I feel the same way, but with Childe. There is SO MUCH to his character, and I'd argue his whole character is tied to the entire lore of Genshin or whatever. Sadly he's been reduced to shipping material by majority of the fandom. The constant mischaracterization of him by the fandom (and...dare I say his VA) isn't helping, either.
I don't necessarily mind "hot anime waifu/husbando" fanservice when it comes to appearance. Truthfully, I find Genshin's brand of character design to be VERY tame compared to other gacha games (Azur Lane, ZZZ, Tower of Fantasy, Wuwa, etc.) The type of fanservice I take issue with is the "everyone really likes the MC" kind. I acknowledge that this is just a gacha games thing and I'm the wrong audience for it. It's just that usually I can tolerate it or I can even see it (like with Arknights.) The way Genshin does it is just doesn' work for me. More power to them ones who can self-insert themselves into the Traveler because I can't at all It just makes me roll my eyes whenever any Genshin chatacter talks to the Traveler as if they're best friends, refers to them like they're the best person they know, or does/says anything that can be interpreted as flirting. Not only does it ruin my immersion, but it can come off as heavy-handed at best and "ruins the character" at worst. If this was an otome game/dating sim game, I can take it. But Genshin isn't, but at the same time it also wants to be. And if it does, the writers really need to get better at writing relationships with the Traveler that has actual chemistry (in my opinion) because I don't believe most of the praise/care that's gets thrown the player's way. For me, this kind of "fanservice" takes away from any potential the Genshin cast has of forming relationships *with each other.* I don't care about Ayaka's "relationship" with the Traveler- give me more interactions with Ayato or Chiori. OR show me her history with Thoma. She's known him for longer than the Traveler, I want to know their friendship! I don't care about Nilou hugging the Traveler or having them sleep on her lap. Give me Nilou interacting with the Akademiya characters. Give Nilou back her role as the "artist" among academics! I don't care how protective Xiao is of the Traveler. I want to see more of his history with Zhongli or his conflicting relationship with a half-adepti like Ganyu. I am aware that this is a very divisive opinion. I think I just want different things from Genshin, and that's fine. But man I really roll my eyes at this kind of "fan service."
Iirc, Beta!Thoma was supposed to be an arrogant guy who was Ayaka’s FIANCÉ. But they scrapped that idea and made him their housekeeper and also a fixer.
Ok I am a xiao x traveler shipper (don't attack me anyone-) so imma try to be as unbiased as possible and base everything on facts and knowledge. Imo, the traveler's relationship with xiao makes sense as the traveler _did_ contributed a lot in xiao's character development. And at first, xiao wasn't going all friendly on the traveler either. Instead, he gradually became closer to them. They're still progressively getting closer if you noticed :) but I get your point that you wish to not let the characters relationship with the traveler get in the relationship with _each other_ so it makes sense on xiao's part too. but anyways, I agree with everything else you said! 💗
Fontaine was like a breath of fresh air, but now in natlan Mavuika literally has a bodysuit, and Chasca is similarly distracting. I would still put Ei as the worst fanservice design as an archon but Mavuika isn't that far, her outfit isn't as revealing, but it's still uncomfortable for a known combatant.
Don't forget Nahida. People literally end up sexulizing her calling it "fixed" or "redesign" It was literally gross. They were mad, not because due skintone, but that Nahida was a child instead being tall mommy looking similar to Ei. I saw ton of fixed Nahida's redesigns of her having watermelons on her chest.
The roommate thing is constantly used for fanfics in general(like Ao3 and Wattpad), it makes everyone think about yaoi and always sexualizing the characters. And the endless bickering between them is for sake of comedy or show how the opposing ideologies of the two works, even other characters find their bickering funny, but I'm pretty sure that if the two were of opposite genders the fandom would call their dynamic toxic instead of "cute divorced couple".
Yeah but Hoyo’s not blind they’re def aware abt the shipping and esp in Cyno’s second story quest they seemed really “domestic husband vibes” without overdoing it to upset ccp. This is also coming from someone who doesn’t rlly ship them, but them being together and not fighting was light fanservice in its own right imo
Hoyo is VERY aware of the power of shippers. Look at KiaMei and Bronseele from HI3rd, to the point they rly made BronSel kissed in official media (forgot game or manhwa). That's why you see a lot of tropes generally favored by the asian side of the community such as Kaeluc - SWORN brothers (very popular trope in xianxia danmei) Tartali - God x Mortal Thomato, Eimiko - Master x Servant Kavetham - Roommates (asian fandom is crazy over this one ngl) Wriollette - judge x (ex)criminal Clorivia - Friends turned enemied turn lovers sorta thingy Ittoyato/ Ayaitto - Noble x commoner Rezhong, Guili, Zhongven, Xiaoven - God x God Mavuitano / Caprisun - Enemies to lovers ikz And many more Natlan's shipping fanservice is pretty mild ngl, even Snezhnaya has harder hints like Dottlone/Panttore (evil business partners) or Arlebina (angel x demon maybe????)
@@pureteddybear_ As a bisexual dude, I find alot of the girls in Genshin to be bland. But the men though, most of em got me barking. *Aka the tall model males*
I always hated raiden design because it's sole existence is to be fan service and as a person who likes character design it doesn't make her look like a shogun it makes her your typical red light district Oiran.
As much as her outfit looks inappropriate for a leader, there's a reason to it aprt from fan-service. She has an original outfit that looks modest realistic when she was working as Kage-musha. When she became a Shogun, she tried to wear her dead sister's dress and it ended up so out of place like her being in responsibilty but not having enough mental nor intelligence to handle it. And about Oiran believe it or not, they're supposed to be the most graceful women not emotionally violated and ragged like Raiden Shogun.
THISSSSS I have always disagreed with the direction they went with Raiden's design. No matter how much you looked at it, it doesnt portray the dignity of a shogun and more like an Oiran kimono. I also disagree with Shenhe's and Ganyu's design, Cloud Retainer too to some extend, bit Shenhe was particularly the worst case among three in my opinion. Yelan on the otherhand is perfect. Sure it's sexy, but she's a spy, and female spies are often portrayed as sexy femme fatale women (Ada Wong is an iconic example).
@@inthenameofcontractlendmem983 maybe I was exaggerating a bit with the Oiran part but you're right they look way more modest than Raiden Shogun. Every time I've brought it up I always get pushbacks when I have an opinion about her outfit making excuses for a corporation sexualising women. Oiran however is more fitting she looks like a seggs worker than a leader for war her outfit is impractical and doesn't protect anything her character itself solely exists for fan service and as a woman myself I think it's down right objectifying.
yeah it is. but i don’t think hoyo really wanted to to come off that way. hoyos games are very clearly meant for gooner men, so them making it come out of her heart is probably just an excuse for lore reasons so men can still fap every time they use her burst. i think they could’ve covered her chest at least a little bit, especially since it’s a magic sword, and people make swords appear out of nowhere in this game, so it cutting through fabric wouldn’t be a problem if they did
Genshins fan service is really tame and it has only gotten lessened as the game goes on, really the only fan service we get now is characters just being nice to us and hanging out with us Though i will say this does have some problems in that we rarely if ever get antagonistic characters and everyone's personality just kinda messes together into one large group of very nice people
Strongly disagree, it feels as if it gets worse with every patch. Mavuika’s entire design is fanservice, who wears a zipper suit that goes all the way to your 🐱, like seriously? And it’s not only her, the male to female ratio in characters just keeps getting worse, we got 2 male characters in Natlan out of 9 revealed characters…
@@fluffykittens18029design is whole other things than fan service and yeah if you think female can only only work with fan service then you are wrong.i will say players make most of headcannon and hyper it then the game does it in anything in this fandom .most of genshin females have their own personality that doesn't revolve around traveller.
I presume it's a motorcycling outfit. Given that she's the Pyro Archon who's hair literally becomes fire from time to time, I would have to imagine desert heat might not be that big an issue for her. That said, I do think her look is a bit... much. Campy.
I think it might not be considered fan service but in my opinion the fact that ALL the playable women in the game... Are single (or atleast doesnt tell if they are in a relationship) is in of itself fan service You cannot for the life of me tell me that some of them don't have or weren't in a relationship. Because I am sure that people will riot if Mihoyo suddenly said that "oh yeah... Hutao, she has a boyfriend and remember Ganyu? She actually did have a child and it's Qiqi, that's right Cocogoat isn't a virgin. Also Furina is being freaky in the sheets with someone and all of those men isnt Aether" can you imagine the shit storm on the CN community when that happens
I understand that STEREOTYPES exists in designs so the viewers can quickly understand what the chatacter is. But there is an obsession within the western fandom where STEREOTYPES must be 100% applies. Skirk, a strong warrior, means she needs armor, swords, pauldrons. But skirk is an alien, her design being 'straight outta hsr' actually holding some waters in it. The abyss is something alien to teyvat, so they dont rly always adhere to teyvat's fashion sense. Sure, she probably can use some armor like in that leaked concept design, but i still think the official one works better than say, SHENHE 😂
Idk if it's just me, but characters like Ganyu really feel like they exist solely for fanservice :/ she's supposed to be Liyue's version of the "overworked female character" trope...but we already have that character in Keqing. Not to mention that both Ganyu and Keqing are overworked ladies who are devout to Rex Lapis (although discreetly in Keqing's case). Their whole gist as a character is similar, except that Ganyu isn't entirely human. Whenever Keqing is in the picture, the story makes it clear that she lives up to the overworked trope (we always see her being busy with something, has a lot on her plate, etc), but with Ganyu it's usually the gag about touching her horns or whatever; we get one mention of her being tired/sleepy and that's it. I know it sounds mean, but take Ganyu out of the game and I wouldn't tell the difference. I just wish there was more to her character than just...this. And need I say more about her outfit which you wouldn't expect a secretary to wear (this is coming from someone who loves Yanfei but hates her outfit bc no self-respecting lawyer would wear something like that) 😭
Hey! I don't want to say anything in case you have a speech impediment, but I really couldn't understand you at some parts 😅 The words sorta mushed together. Could you add captions in your future videos or maybe speak a bit slower if it isn't a speech impediment? Everything else about the video was epic. You definitely deserve more views in the Genshin space.
Skirk design is pretty but it makes me so sad that genshin devs added Lorecraft cosmic horror references in later main story while her design doesn't indicate it.. at all lol instead we have some feathers, some spiked crystals and other random details. The only thing they left which shows her (probably) inhuman origins is a tiny fin. Even her hand with claws looks like it's a glove. While i love her face, i wish they kept a darker pallette from her concepts and added more fish/monster parts like her famous bone tail
I was so looking forward to her design, I spend a lot of time on lore communities and she's much more prominent in discussions there. I expected some kind of Eldritch horror type outfit with a mask or something. I don't know why I was expecting more, but she was such a letdown.
Spilling all the tea because this was a great analysis! In my opinion, the characters that were ruined by fanservice in character design are; Kujo Sara; a General and warrior, and yet her outfit shows none of the military discipline nor harsh experience of war. While she is an archer, she is a leader, her job on the frontlines yet the lack of armor is ridiculous. It doesn't help the fact that she is reduced to a mere Raiden Simp bc her of her collection of statues. Chasca; you nailed the issue there, she looks like one of these D&D characters that archetypes were splattered all over her design. Ganyu; she is a secretary but also an adepti that had lived since the early days of Liyue, hell she even survived the Archon War! And yet her outfit is some type of latex. Yelan and Eula are the only ones that show positives traits about fanservice. Eula shows to be a great dancer that seems heavely inspired by Salsa, which make senses that there is highlights about her outfit.
Yelan's type of fanservice actually fits the trope. She's a spy, female spies are often associated with sexy, femme fatale dominant personality. You can see that in another female spy icon, Ada Wong. The more i think about it, Ada might be one of Yelan's design inspiration. And she doesnt simps traveler, that's just how the way she is.
The climbing noises. Maybe i dont know what im talking about because i havent rock climbed, but i just dont know if the sounds are necessary? Lisa (EN) specifically. Maybe they’re supposed to be taken as grunts due to exertion, but that doesnt make it Not weird all of a sudden. You focused on how fanservice effects the story, but im also curious on your take on the Voice Acting. Is it just exertion and im thinking too deeply?
I don't notice this with other characters since I only walk around as my main but fortunately I think my main suffers with this problem but just never gets considered when it comes to fanservice in general (which is weird considering his literal ult is fanservice that actually works for his character despite the obvious joke it's playing on). Don't get me wrong, I love Wanderer beyond death (you don't want to know how deep that fixation goes. It's gone beyond rent free. I don't even think calling him my roman empire will cut it anymore) but there are genuine times that I'm legitimately thankful his whole kit gimmick was made to avoid climbing because every time I do it, it gets so uncomfortable when *THAT* specific sound plays. Like he has a perfectly normal and passable one and the jump-climbs are fine too because they legit just sound like exertion but then for some reason someone decided to sneak in the dreaded 'yaoi sub moans' into either one or two of the slow climb lines and it is the bane of my existence. Maybe it's just me but it just sounds so unnecessary to me? Maybe it's the pitch to it or something idk. Like come on, was the ult being a literal 'step on me' cam angle not enough?? We're Scara fans, it's not like we even needed fanservice to pull for him in the first place considering most of us literally skipped entire region updates with the hope he'd release as playable, while we barely had fuck all to go on for his character- We did NOT need extra nuggets of fanservice as enticement💀
Mostly in JP ton of female character moans while climbing. Especally JP Lisa. And in EN Cicin mages literally moans like a whore when you hit them. I swear, I had to mute or use a headphones to farm materials from Cicin mages.
Skirk's design might make a little more sense, or at least seem a little less illogical when you consider that we don't know who or what she is. She looks human, but as far as we know, she isn't even from Teyvat. Her clothes could very well not be clothes, especially the things she has on her legs, which basically seem to fuse into her legs. And it has been said (or at least shown) that no human can survive in the Abyss, so it wouldn't make sense if Skirk was a human. And while she doesn't look like someone who has lived in a very dangerous place for a long time, from how powerful she seems to be, it's possible she *is* the danger.
who is she even anyways? i assumed she's not from snezhnaya... got a feeling she knows about the unknown goddess who banished us from teyvat... if ever traveller have common sense... ditch meeting the archons and ask her, even if you have to fight her head on cause nothing to lose oh yeah, the talking melon says so 🙃
I know you recently mentioned Ayaka in one of your videos but I think she deserved a spot here. She doesn't have a character. She has nothing deep to her that would make us like her. The only reason she is so well liked is because she flirts with the traveler a lot. Her whole character is just liking the traveler and I hate it
9:45-10:12 While I do agree with what you said, I still think that Yelan's design is out of place. Genshin does an excellent job at designing characters and you can recognize a character's nationality from it. However Yelan is (currently) one of the very few exception to this and it's not that her design is intentionally mixing two different nations' styles to make the design unrecognisable at a first glance. Her design doesn't suggest me a nation or even a mix of different ones and it seems out of a more modern-style game or even a futuristic one, like HSR.
@@Hie_HyoumakiPerhaps I haven't expressed my point correctly. I think that Yelan's design doesn't fit with the Liyue aesthetic because it is more modern compared to the typical designs of Liyue. I'm not saying that it doesn't look Chinese enough and that wasn't my intention, so I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
I love your voice but maybe you could chill a little bit? You speak so fast at the end of your sentences it sounds like you are in a rush hahaha, great vid btw
If somebody think Genshin's fan service is wild, let them play other Gacha games like Nikke or ZZZ. Not to mention WuWa with plot itself is literal harem.
wasn't there something about raiden's short kimono design represents youth in japan (don't quote me on this, it just resurfaced in my head) makes sense when using this info and yeah kaveh is just unfortunately in the 4 star syndrome. You need to play his event or hangout quest to get his character. Mostly because for obvious reasons, the 5 star quest he is in don't put him in scenarios for him to shine
i think the sheer amount of it is unfortunate, but what can we do honestly? it's what sells and so hoyo (and just media as a whole i guess) will never stop. we do have modders amd fanartists to show us what could have been, but it's bittersweet. i still at least like most of genshin's char designs, but i believe many would be improved by toning down said fanservice
I think most likely Genshin is less fanservice game if you compare it to Wuwa or ZZZ. I think Kuro is pushing Wuwa to be a gooner and fanservice game. Literally every female character in Wuwa has jiggle physics. Even Verina and Encore has it, who are literally children. Calcharo is sitting forggoten basement, it's been many months after release and we haven't met Calcharo. Calcharo is a 5 standart character who is an exiled, working as a mercinery and leader of Ghost Hound. He was literally inspired from Vergil (Devil man Cry) and Kuro just gave him an Aloy treatment. Scar and other playable dude was added for a bait. And people falled of misstranslation that Kuro team said, that are planning to add more male characters in Wuwa, but it's all bullshit. Lot of male characters are literally npc while fe.ale has huge lore. And honestly Chiaxia should been a guy instead of girl. During apocalypse a character being silly or goofy a male would do that better than a woman. No hate on Chaixia, but I prefered her being more serious than being goofy, she does not look like a type of person who wpuld crack some jokes and being goofing nonstop. Amd no hate on writter, but entire story feels like ot's written by a KAM girl/feminist or a random person who has fetish on yuri grape. Entire story gives me more like "Women Power" vibes. To be realistic, during apocalypse Jinhsi would not be a leader, maybe Jiyan or Calcharo. They definetly are better leaders than Jinshi. Jinshi literally sit in her palace and did nothing. While we faced Scar and Tacted Discord was ready to raid Jianzhou. I think Kuro was trying to push that Women=good guys Men=bad guys. And I haven't finsihed the quest, but I heard the entire quest is literally Isekai Harem and Women power. And Carmellyia was made for gooner audiance, her battle is literraly strippi g and be "ready to be bread" pose and her attack is literally called "Breeding" and her teaser name is about "Seed" not a flower seed. I quit playing Wuwa, because I was tired that Kuro does not add more Male characters. Kuro only listens to waifu audiance. -want a 4 star waifu, but want to pull Jiyan? Of coure, there you go. -Don't want to pull for Xiangling Yao? Of course, you can have him as a free 5 star character. -Don't want male characters to be a 5 stars, even they lore supposed to be? Sure, why not, I will make all male characters to be a 4stars instead. -Want to have every waifus a jiggle physics eveon lolis? Of course we can do that. -Want to meet Calcharo ina story? Sorry, we cannot, he is a self insert OC and not a waifu. But you can pull him from standart banner even tho we added a huge lore drop about the panet.
as a childe enthusiast i was so excited for skirk, but when i saw her design i was confused and really disappointed. it's nice in a vacuum, but it doesn't fit her at all and she looks like she'd be from honkai. her design doesnt fit genshin at all. even if that was the point, it doesn't work well because it doesnt reflect how she lives in the abyss. if she becomes playable i'll still pull for her but i dont like her design. one character i think is perfect though is heizou. my reasoning? he's my favourite and i'm biased
Venti has both good and bad fan service, his story quest is good fan service letting us see beyond the mask of the drunken bard but most events we get with just boil his character down to a simple alcoholic
Nah, Genshin is the least fanservice-y of all Hoyoverse games. Just look at ZZZ, that is fanservice. In comparison, Genshin is like a 15th century Catholic nun.
you know the problem genshin as well as other hoyoverse games like honkai series and ZZZ... it's the shippers... they either shipped traveller with any featured teen waifu per nation (amber in monstadt, keqing in liyue, ayaka in inazuma, nilou at sumeru, furina at fontaine and mualani at natlan) or either BL/YR (even the fatui cause disney villain syndrome)... hoyoverse is just one hot messy fanservice where they can go wild with their absurd fantasies... especially the worse ones (r34)
Imo raiden/ei is thw worst example, because no way she is so soft to someone who actually tried to break her ideology or too soft for little "date". I dont believe she became that good for short time and i belive she would be strict and dumb too (for example about photography)
The CCP (China's gov) has already warned Hoyo that ladies must dress modestly (no lewd stuff) and males must not look feminine, otherwise they will be done for.
i think the fanservice being too much depends on the region really they're from an example of this i can think of is kaeya: his design is clearly fanservice since when compared to others in the region of mondstat he sticks out like a sore thumb, as well as ayaka as you mentioned. navia is an example of fanservice working for the region because fontaine is based on france and while her design could be seen as fanservice its a fanservice that works because its clearly working to the benefit of fontaine. as well as xilonen who despite her design works to the benefit of natlan because it makes sense of where she is/what she does same with mualani. even kaveh fits because of what sumeru is as opposed alhaithem who very clearly just doesnt fit given his design. so in my opinion i think it boils down to how the character looks/interacts with the region they're in
You know I'm gonna say this and it probably is controversial for some people, but like if they give fanservice to female characters why can't we get the same amount of fanservice for men as well? I mean to be honest, bare chest and other things barely count as fanservice to me especially with men because it's kinda hard to notice such things with male characters, but it becomes pretty obvious with female characters, not to mention the only problem i have with fanservice is that most of the time it ruins the story immersion, female characters get shafted by poor writing because only fanservice matters and we get cringe harem mc sigh...not to mention if a character has tragic backstory it can easily be ruined by fanservice, cough cough ....ei....., I don't mind fanservice when it makes sense, but when it ruins the whole story, destroys the character's personality and is shoved in your face all the time it's kinda hard, also one more thing fanservice for men is almost nonexistent, compare it to their women counterparts and you will know what i mean,i wish we actually had equal treatment with everyone ngl,but yeah just my two cents that's all.

I don’t ship any Genshin ships but I don’t think alhaitham and kaveh loath each other because than alhaitham would just kick kaveh our but some fans do take that “not complete hatred” and take that all the way to lovers which makes no logical sense 😭
@@Nationalist166 This is clearly not the position of the person I was replying to.
poor Kaveh..... I really love his character and his ideal conflict against Alhaitham's ideal. sadly, people only want to ship them....
fr, i have nothing against the ship but at the same time i do!
they have a complex relationship, character dynamic and clashing ideologies but people reduce it to a romantic relationship and just see them as a "couple arguing"
Side note, somewhat off topic but need to get it off of my chest:
As someone who is bisexual (not that it should even matter) I also hate being told I'm homophobic for not shipping gay characters.
Some ships I don't like:
-Tighnari and Cyno, I just genuinely don't see them having that kind of chemistry
-Child and Zhongli, Childe is so obviously a young man and Zhongli gives me old man vibes it's so gross
-Venti and Xiao, not as bad as the above but for the same reasons. Xiao feels like a teenager. Venti, even though he acts a bit like a child sometimes we do know he's more mature than that, he definitely feels much older than Xiao, more like an uncle figure
I just wish I could talk about the characters and their relationships further than "he's so bbg" "they're so married couple coded" or whatever.
@@hyuranghae Is the " so much to his character" with us the in room ?

I don't necessarily mind "hot anime waifu/husbando" fanservice when it comes to appearance. Truthfully, I find Genshin's brand of character design to be VERY tame compared to other gacha games (Azur Lane, ZZZ, Tower of Fantasy, Wuwa, etc.)
The type of fanservice I take issue with is the "everyone really likes the MC" kind. I acknowledge that this is just a gacha games thing and I'm the wrong audience for it. It's just that usually I can tolerate it or I can even see it (like with Arknights.)
The way Genshin does it is just doesn' work for me. More power to them ones who can self-insert themselves into the Traveler because I can't at all
It just makes me roll my eyes whenever any Genshin chatacter talks to the Traveler as if they're best friends, refers to them like they're the best person they know, or does/says anything that can be interpreted as flirting.
For me, this kind of "fanservice" takes away from any potential the Genshin cast has of forming relationships *with each other.*
I don't care about Ayaka's "relationship" with the Traveler- give me more interactions with Ayato or Chiori.
But man I really roll my eyes at this kind of "fan service."
just yes

Fontaine was a turn for the better and I was so eager to see how Natlan would continue the new direction..
Don't forget Nahida.
People literally end up sexulizing her calling it "fixed" or "redesign"
It was literally gross. They were mad, not because due skintone, but that Nahida was a child instead being tall mommy looking similar to Ei.
I saw ton of fixed Nahida's redesigns of her having watermelons on her chest.
Let's be honest. There's no Kavetham fanservice, it's just that the shippers interpret every scene where the both of them appear as fanservice.
@Izzi_idiocy At the same time, who expected them to fight *all* the time? They're civilized people, not kids.
Hoyo is VERY aware of the power of shippers. Look at KiaMei and Bronseele from HI3rd, to the point they rly made BronSel kissed in official media (forgot game or manhwa). That's why you see a lot of tropes generally favored by the asian side of the community such as
Kaeluc - SWORN brothers (very popular trope in xianxia danmei)
Tartali - God x Mortal
Thomato, Eimiko - Master x Servant
Kavetham - Roommates (asian fandom is crazy over this one ngl)
Wriollette - judge x (ex)criminal
Clorivia - Friends turned enemied turn lovers sorta thingy
Ittoyato/ Ayaitto - Noble x commoner
Rezhong, Guili, Zhongven, Xiaoven - God x God
Mavuitano / Caprisun - Enemies to lovers ikz

I always hated raiden design because it's sole existence is to be fan service and as a person who likes character design it doesn't make her look like a shogun it makes her your typical red light district Oiran.
her design is so gorgeous from the back and then you see the front

4:21 ITS HER HEART 😭😭😭
yeah it is. but i don’t think hoyo really wanted to to come off that way. hoyos games are very clearly meant for gooner men, so them making it come out of her heart is probably just an excuse for lore reasons so men can still fap every time they use her burst. i think they could’ve covered her chest at least a little bit, especially since it’s a magic sword, and people make swords appear out of nowhere in this game, so it cutting through fabric wouldn’t be a problem if they did
Genshins fan service is really tame and it has only gotten lessened as the game goes on, really the only fan service we get now is characters just being nice to us and hanging out with us
Though i will say this does have some problems in that we rarely if ever get antagonistic characters and everyone's personality just kinda messes together into one large group of very nice people
Strongly disagree, it feels as if it gets worse with every patch. Mavuika’s entire design is fanservice, who wears a zipper suit that goes all the way to your 🐱, like seriously? And it’s not only her, the male to female ratio in characters just keeps getting worse, we got 2 male characters in Natlan out of 9 revealed characters…

And need I say more about her outfit which you wouldn't expect a secretary to wear (this is coming from someone who loves Yanfei but hates her outfit bc no self-respecting lawyer would wear something like that) 😭
Hey! I don't want to say anything in case you have a speech impediment, but I really couldn't understand you at some parts 😅
The words sorta mushed together.
In my opinion, the characters that were ruined by fanservice in character design are;
Kujo Sara; a General and warrior, and yet her outfit shows none of the military discipline nor harsh experience of war.
Navias idle animation is the bane of my existence 😭😭
And while she doesn't look like someone who has lived in a very dangerous place for a long time, from how powerful she seems to be, it's possible she *is* the danger.
who is she even anyways? i assumed she's not from snezhnaya... got a feeling she knows about the unknown goddess who banished us from teyvat... if ever traveller have common sense... ditch meeting the archons and ask her, even if you have to fight her head on cause nothing to lose

Yelan's design was not chinese enough????
@@Hie_HyoumakiPerhaps I haven't expressed my point correctly. I think that Yelan's design doesn't fit with the Liyue aesthetic because it is more modern compared to the typical designs of Liyue. i still at least like most of genshin's char designs, but i believe many would be improved by toning down said fanservice
I think Kuro was trying to push that
Women=good guys
Men=bad guys.
I don’t know what you’re on but Verina, Encore and Youhu don’t have jiggles 😂

navia is an example of fanservice working for the region because fontaine is based on france and while her design could be seen as fanservice its a fanservice that works because its clearly working to the benefit of fontaine. as well as xilonen who despite her design works to the benefit of natlan because it makes sense of where she is/what she does same with mualani. even kaveh fits because of what sumeru is as opposed alhaithem who very clearly just doesnt fit given his design.
so in my opinion i think it boils down to how the character looks/interacts with the region they're in
Hello? You need to see Zenless Zen Zero and Wuthering Waves 😭😭
Genshin is way more chill compared to them 🤨
The way I look at it is hot waifus are just a art style or theme for this game ❤❤
Mona's swimsuit makes a little more sense when you realize her powers are based on water. She uses hydromancy.
So does every other hydro character but they don't wear swimsuits. Plus mona has nothing to do with swimming, just water.
I'd say it doesn't have it that much before Natlan.
Please add more MEN so I can take a break on Gacha man… Waifu every patch make me broke😢😢
I don’t know I haven’t seen any fan service like crazy amounts in the game or it be too extreme the riding though can be ass at times
It's not as bad as it is with its contemporaries so I don't think so
Yes, but it is not nearly as bad as it used to be.
