The Sandpipers version of this song was the first time that I heard this song and the smooth pleasantness of the song makes me give it a more better rating.

The light bossanova ryhthm, the soft flute, the strange syncopation of the percussion and their lazzy and mellow voices made this song uncanny and memorable. Fantastic! Thank you 65 Seasons for posting it. Thank you Sandpipers wherever you are!

@daisydarlin05, songs by The Beatles are not easy to give another life form, however, I definitely agree that The Sandpipers did justice to this song. That's why it's here in my channel. 65:)

Best version of this song. Flute at 1:37 is brilliant!

Nice old song composed by Lennon and McCartney but sung by the Sandpipers. I like their version better than the original because their voices are better suited to moody soft songs as this one.

Thanks for posting this with such intelligent, intriguing visuals. I'm singing the Sandpipers' wonderful "Come, Saturday Morning" soon @ Prudential's International Food Day - and "Softly, As I Leave" you has also always been one of my favorite songs. I hadn't known they covered this poignant Beatles tune. You're right, it's hard to cover one of theirs without sounding cheesy.

On this day in 1966 {August 24th} the Sandpipers performed their covered version of the Beatles' "Things We Said today" on the Dick Clark produced ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program 'Where The Action Is'...
The song was track two of side two from the Los Angeles trio's debut album, 'Guantanamera', the album peaked at #13 on Billboard'sTop LPs Albums chart...
And on the day of their appearance on 'Action', their single "Guantanamera" was at #22 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, three weeks later it would peak at #9 {for 1 week}...
Another track from the album, a covered version of the Kingsmens' "Louie, Louie", also made the Top 100 at position #30....
The trio had two other Top 100 records, "Come Saturday Morning"* {#17 in 1970} and "Free to Carry On" {#94 in 1970}...
    * "Come Saturday Morning" was nominated for an Academy Award for "Best Original Song" from the 1969 movie 'The Sterile Cuckoo", the winner was "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"...

Nothin' wrong with letting the Fab 4 revel in their compelling chord progressions in someone else's voice once in a while!

@TEMPmichaelhansen, that I cannot answer. But some tips if I may say is aiming the camera at the view, not in the face of a person. If it happens that a person gets in the way of what you take, then at least pan the camera away.... :)

"Las cosas que dijimos hoy" compuesta por los Beatles pero cantada por los Sandpipers. Me gusta más esta versió porque las voces de ellos los Sandpipers son más apropiadas para canciones suaves como esta.
