    They have a great little body style and that slant 6 engine is indestructable.

    I had a 65 Dodge Dart as a teenager, it was slant 6, 3 on the tree, but I had converted it to 3 on the floor. It wasn't a deluxe model like in this video, but as this video showed the interior, I could almost smell the interior once again of the one I had.

    We had a 4 door 1965 Plymouth Valiant with the 225 slant six and 3 speed torqueflite. We had that thing until I totaled it in the early 80's. Good solid car!

    I had one as my first car... my grand father drove it over 300k and then helped me restore it in 1979. I wrecked it after five years. I still can hear the growl the breaks made... it was fun to drive and fairly quick.

    What a nice example of the early and little remembered Dodge Dart. My brother had a 1962 Plymouth Valiant with the slant six, and the three on the tree. It was tough as nails. This one is a beauty Jeff !! You always have a great eye for unique cars, and Thank You for sharing with us !!!

    LOVE THOSE DARTS! I had one years ago. Mine was red with a 225 slant six. Auto on the floor. It's hard to imagine but that little 225 slant six could make the rear tires burn on a fresh start. The car only had 142 Horse Power but they would cruze at 75 easily.

    Many years ago I rebuilt a 1966 "D" dart 273 H.P. for a man who raced it .It turned late 12's with a 40lb. flywheel 4:30 gears 26x9 slicks.I think it had a 288 with .525 or .533 lift solid cam.It was sweet.

    The Pentastar on the left is incorrect and the Engine color of the 65's was Red, it is not an Original Car

    • @1575murray
      @1575murray 5 років тому

      You are correct most likely that engine was swapped out for a later one the air cleaner is not correct for a 1965 car either. The correct one is a smaller one with a "Charger 225" label on it.

    I had a '69 four door with the 225 slant 6. Then I got a '77 volare wagon with the same engine and a 3speed with overdrive clutch and NO power steering and drove it around Seattle.

    I like this car way better than the last Dart FCA came out with, that one only lasted a few years!

    Very cool. The first car I have any memory of is my grandfathers dart. It was a white 4 door with red interior. The biggest thing I recall about it is the window cranks were easy for me to turn & the doors were light enough for me to open & close on my own. lol I was very young back then. I have no idea what year the car was but I was 4 in 1971. I am guessing that's roughly the time those memories are from & the car was a few years old at the time. I would guess it was a 66 or 67. Anyways, I find it kind of funny that it's to door & window regulator that stands out in my memory.

    slant six can be easily modified into a wildly powerful motor, dodge sold performance parts in the early '60's,

    These are so underrated and under priced! Grab it for CHEAP, while they are still cheap! Because they are rare I think and unique.

    Nice car but not the original engine. Should be red, ribbed valve cover, no vacuum switch in the cylinder head. That's about a '76 engine.

    2nd comment yeah I know. The only downfall on these Darts were many of them came with drum brakes all the way around. So, in short time the front brakes would burn up. The rest I have all positives for it. This little car has amazing trunk space.

    • @NickL951
      @NickL951 2 роки тому

      You could add disc brakes in front.

    My older Sister had a dart, it would run forever on a gallon of gas. Three speed standard on the wheel, and the little slant six was a peppy little engine too. I wish we had (simple cars like these today) not everyone wants a car that drives it's self ) :

      I'm with you...there is a lot to be said about a nice, simple car. Along with all the new gadgets, can also come a lot of frustration.

      My car (at this point in my life) is an old beat up 2004 dodge Intrepid, it don't look like much but it has for wheel disc brakes, Rack and pinion and 250 hp V6 that will get up and go. I like cars that work well, looks are Secondary ( :

    70' engine , original engine would have had a finned valve cover, and oil filler and breather were 1 cap not separate, the original engine was painted red, also the pentastar on the lower part of the fender was only on the right side not both.

    I don't think I've ever seen one of those year of Darts, What kind of power did those slant 6's put out?

    • @RamblinAround
      @RamblinAround  7 років тому

      I think the 225 Slant 6 was good for around 145 HP...but I've seen some built up a bit too.

  • @joserafaelgrangefuenmayor7744

    Not that you would want to be going 120 mph down the road. Single brake cylinder. People were just a little adventure at this time. I know from my dart those brakes will stop fast if you had too stop fast. Had a few moments when I was driving my dart in the summer months.
