From what I heard and saw in this video, it's not that Ingrid simply _beat_ Bison. It's that she made a complete and utter joke out of him, made Psycho Power (you know, the thing that defines Bison as a threat) out to have been something he _stole_ rather than it being given to or earned by him, and then just kinda left to make a joke out of good ol' MC Ryu too. And probably did off-screen, simply because she's Ingrid and she's awesome.

Not gonna lie, I thought I was gonna see a discussion about their in game skillset abuse, and such... and I'm lowkey disappointed by the entirety of the video. Especially with the conclusion being a not-so thought provoking question.
There's no doubt that most people thag like fighting games, like them because they're not anime tropey "cutesy" "UwU" vibe games. So inviting those characters into the roster will gain natural detest. That's just obvious. Asking why is..weird..to me.
But the fact he overlooked their actual performance in the game, and how that adds to the feedback is a total letdown. I cant speak for Ingrid, or Lucky Chloe, but I can say... I've seen more stigma against Marie Rose and Honoka players rather than the characters... and only complaints of the characters by proxy.
Marie Rose is inconsistent in personality, not lacking in it. Honoka has no defined personality beyond being innocent and oblivious, ie childlike. So to see her use these OP "cool" moves and in spamming methods is off putting. It goes against her brand as childish and suddenly she's a pro powerhouse, specifically one that's annoying to fight. That creates a big disdain for the playerbase.
Marie Rose also has a generally aggravating moveset that also can be used to trigger the player-- and ruin their setups etc in an instant.. and she has one of the worst(best?) infinite loops in the game. You take that into account with a dry personality-- and inconsistent storyline and she's naturally gonna be disliked by seasoned players as well.
Not to mention the general dislike that tbe characters are "child like" and sexualized to a point that it's SLIGHTLY uncomfortable. There's just not a lot of room for them to be liked.
(Which was also overlooked in this video.)
I can see why people dislike Marie Rose, I can see people being annoyed by honoka personality wise...but sheeeeeesh. FIGHTING THEM?😂 It's a rage cesspool waiting to be built...and likely the true base of most detestment. Which is something I've heard about Chloe too.

Never heard the term Cute Aggression, but I think I'm definitely gonna remember it.
Plenty in the FGC like or are at least neutral to cute things sure, but there's definitely some sort of intense backlash like hate at this particular flavor of cute. It usually seems to be the...I guess audacity of a character like that appearing in anything outside of somewhere where its expected to stay like Blazblue or Melty Blood. I can at least understand that, not finding it fitting the tone of a game, but some of the rage seems to get really...dramatic. Before people even knew what Cloe's moveset was, I remember some people absolutely lost their shit at the character even existing. And in Ingrid's case its especially weird since like the video said, she didn't even come from a completed game to even ruin. Maybe it's a bit of a Scrappy effect? Like people thought the character was being pushed too much?
None of these characters are really my cup of tea either but I don't entirely get what warrants the level of rage I see sometimes.

I think it boils down to the general stigma of cute girls doing cute things. People are more than willing to have female fighters since they often share masculine tropes for the simple fact of being fighters in the first place. Being sexy comes as a bonus. However, having cutesy fighters kinda crosses the line for the "HARDCORE" slice of the FGC since the archetype for the most part reject the typical sexy or strong tropes of a female fighter. This is why DOA fans have little to say against Ayane despite being younger than Marie or Honoka.

Marie Rose is a breath of fresh air to a franchise where most of the females are associated w/ jiggle physics, and has become one of my favorites. But since DOA has a reputation of being a titillating series, her "underaged" design tends to make certain people uncomfortable. As for Honoka, I personally find her very generic as an addition to the roster since she's a top heavy schoolgirl whose moves are from the other characters of the game.

If you ask me, I think the hatred toward these characters may be rooted in a general distaste towards "moe". Fighting game fans seem to prefer their female characters to be sexy and badass, not cute and girly. It's why characters like Chun Li and Cammy from Street Fighter, Baiken and I-no from Guilty Gear, or the Williams from Tekken are highly regarded while these girls are looked down upon. Even though these hated characters can kick just as much ass as the rest of their respective casts, the fact that they do so in a jovial and girlish way tends to put off a lot of players.

    • @mrhades113
      @mrhades113 3 роки тому +106

That's where the argument of "this character doesn't belong in this game" comes from, when people see these moe, playful, childish characters that look like they're not even taking the fight seriously in the same ring as characters like Kazuya and Heihachi, they can find it pretty annoying, specially in Tekken's more "grounded" fighting styles, like Nina, Ana, Xiaoyu, Christie, it doesn't matter if they're sexy or cute, when it's time to fight, they take their fighting stances and fight, that may be why they're beloved characters.

I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with all these characters being feminine in a very particular "cutesy" way rather than any sort of "female warrior archetype" type of femininity, if the distinction I'm trying to make there makes sense. From the looks of it, Marie Rose and Lucky Chloe seem like the sorts of characters who don't really show much combat inclination or experience in their affectations right up until they are literally in the process of doing a combat to somebody. They don't outwardly "seem like fighters", I suppose. So, they have miens that are typically actually DISassociated with combat proficiency despite in reality being, well, skilled fighters. I think that sort of thing can create a really fun contrast, personally, but I guess a lot of people are really put off by it.

I think I can connect those two points, a consistent issue people have with characters called Mary Sue's is being unreasonably skilled at too many things.
I've never been a big fan of the idol trope, in general and in fighting games, cause I find it weird to overhype/fetishize an industry I *only* ever hear shitty things about, but in fighting games I have another issue. I just struggle to believe you're as equally skilled in both idol performances and fighting, specifically because those are quite unrelated skills. One character that doesn't bother me this way is Bridget, who uses yoyo's both for combat and for performance art, meaning they're effectively the same skill applied differently. Otherwise, I struggle to believe you exist in this world, even within fantasy, because people who are skilled in multiple areas prioritize and develop expertize in one thing above the others.

Fact: The "Idol" archetype was the real problem.
It was and never will be a popular thing outside of Japan and to most people, ESPECIALLY outsiders, it's cringe as hell.
I myself am a man stricken with "yellow fever", love Japan as its own entity and without that aura of weebs who think they know Japan because they watch anime, and actually want to move into its countryside one day... And I fucking hate idols.
That said, there's another factor here too: Idol archetypes get associated with general "anime girl" archetypes. What do I mean by this? Athena from KOF. People fucking HATE characters like this and Chloe is evocative of them. And it's not like being an Eddie Gordo clone was doing her any favors because, surprise surprise, people don't like fighting Eddie players either.

I think you hit the nail on the head with Lucky Chloe and Marie/Honoka, though I'm surprised you didn't mention how much Capcom Fighting Jam was disliked by the FGC at the time, and how it's pretty much the poster child of the dark age of Capcom's fighting games in the early/mid 2000's. I feel as though the hatred towards Ingrid is at least somewhat linked to that, what with her debuting in that game.

    • @BHRaccoon
      @BHRaccoon 3 роки тому +4

That's actually my central reason for not liking Ingrid. I remember buying Fighting Jam with so much excitement because it was finally a new 2D Capcom fighting game... and it played, looked, and felt awful and lazy. And then Capcom went dark for almost 10 years in the FG department. Ingrid was basically the mascot of the game with her being the only new face, so whenever I see her, all I remember is that disappointment. It's totally unfair and illogical, but it's where my brain goes with the character and why I cringe every time.

    • @alter1578

It definitely FEELS like people perceive she's a representative of one of the worst 2D Fighting game Capcom has ever produced, and as a result her inclusion in Alpha 3 MAX might've felt like an attempt to push this "rando OC" into the world of Street Fighter.
Which is interesting because that means people gave her much more importance than she really had in the grand scheme of things. Like if she were to become a Mascot Character (Her lore could easily help with that belief as well as being the only character with non-imported sprites in Fighting Jam) that Capcom would push everywhere and include on everything when in reality... No, it was just a neat character concept they could use and got to finish.

Ok, long one: TLDR: _Isn't Chloe supposed to be annoying, and why aren't we talking about playstyles?_
So, I don't actually play any of the listed games, but I HAVE heard of Honoka and especially Lucky Chloe.
My confusion is that I thought Chloe was _supposed_ to be hard to like, and I kinda like her for that. She's two-faced, presenting a sickeningly cutsey facade while her real personality is a jerkish b- _young lady_ that will kick people in the 'nads for not meeting her unreasonable standards. Her playstyle is an aggressive poke-centric one that punishes any gaps in your defense with frustratingly huge damage.
A LOT of people hate the buriko-idol archetype, she checks that box. EVERYONE hates the self-centered Karen archetype, she checks that box. Her playstyle is obnoxious one to go against. I honestly thought she was a successful design, like F.A.N.G. in SFV, she was supposed to be obnoxious.
On that note, I don't think I've sen that come up at all in this video at least: the characters movesets and playstyles. Design, animations and personality are one thing, but how do Honoka and Ingrid _feel_ to play and play against? Is that a contributing factor? My only regular fighting game is Smash Bros, and zoners and characters with counters in those games are very annoying and have contributed to some of the most contentious characters on the roster... do these characters have something in their movesets that contributes to them being poor matchups for the rest of the roster, or just feel bad to play against?

That all goes to shit when you realize Marie Rose is outdone by any other evasive character or Leifang completely.
Also watch Honoka’s animations more closely there’s 1-2 frames of animation that she’s stuck in the original characters stance. Raidou doesn’t have that at all so appreciate that. Also, any character can H cancel any stance in DOA, so Honoka’s transitions to other stances from one another isn’t new nor is it looking smooth because any character can H cancel their stance to be in neutral again.

I think with the recent craze about Smash Bros, you can certainly add Pyra/Mythra to the mix.
My take on why people think these characters don't "belong" is because they're really insecure.
For god knows how long the FGC and the ESport aspect of these games are always trying to portray themselves as "SEWIUS AND PWOFESIWONAW sports in electronic format" kinda like StarCraft, LoL, Overwatch and CS GO already did, and such, these "Kawaii UwU" characters may detract from the seriousness that they all so want funny specially because some of the previous mentioned also have ridiculous UwU characters(Zoe and D.va).
But let's be honest, fighting games are not like traditional sports, their most close parallel is Wrestling. Characters, players, roles, how to entice the audience.
Wrestling and FGC embodies the serious, the grudges, the audience and specially the ridiculous/zany and should be looked like that.

I get it that you said that we wouldn't play these fully fanservice games where they appeared in, but did you even take a look at the current state of Dead Or Alive and the way Koei Tecmo has been treating it? They have completely ignored a big portion of the fanbase and just use Marie Rose and Honoka as their "tickets" for easy and cheap money for the current japanese "fanbase" which is just a bunch of otakus who probably didn't even grow up with the series. Why else is the current focus of DOA just on the japanese-exclusive game like Xtreme Venus where they barely even have the OG ladies and it's mostly dominated by a buch of short little girls who even have the same face and body proportions of Marie and Honoka? Because Koei Tecmo has decided to completely neglect the fighting scene altogether of Dead Or Alive and now just using the Xtreme series for easy money. It's clear that they don't have any faith in the franchise and now they only rely on the Japanese otakus. It's not that hard to understand why Marie Rose and Honoka would get so much hate. They are the reason why DOA is doomed as a franchise and it will only take a miracle for it to come back properly.

Also hating a fighting game character isn't all about gameplay. Fighting games still have an established world and lore that made people love it. An aesthetic that brought them to it. And a change in that to cater the new gen isn't going to always sit well. You can tell with what type of characters they made for Tekken as it went on. Chloe is just one. With regards to DOA's traditional story prior to Honoka's inclusion, it felt like pretty much every other character fit in some way. Sorry but I find this video a little disingeious and weirdly deflective. It's kind of simple and justified why people hate the characters, at least for the first two characters. You don't need to sidestep around why they hated them, because it's pretty obvious.
    1. Ingrid just doesn't fit street fighter, even as a non-canon character. Period. She's not a martial artist. She's not based on a realistic concept, she just has magic goddess powers and that's it. People get mad at those who want her to be introduced to canon are justified because it flips too many things on it's head. She's some overpowered schoolgirl that belongs in a magical girl anime more than anything. For god's sake, she flies off into space on a buddha statue while in the cosmos. Street Fighter has had fantastical and weird things happen in it, but never to the point where a literal goddess comes in and does shit like that. Like, how the fuck am I supposed to be badass motherfucking Bison is actually much weaker than some random cutesy schoolgirl because SHE invented pyscho power? It's nuts.
    2. Lucky Chloe's hate was fully justified, especially at the time when people speculated she'd replace Eddy. She's an annoyingly goofy character who seems way more like cheap weaboo bait rather than attempting to fit in with the rest of the tekken veterans. She just didn't feel like she was in the right place, and not counting the guest characters, she still doesn't exactly fit all these years later. She's not even a funny joke character, unlike Kuma and Mokujin.
As for Honkers and Marie, I never really understood their hate because they actually fit into DOA well. Their just a little more on the "anime" side of things than the other girls, because to be honest, a pink-haired girl who's really shy yet drop-dead sexy and also a kick-ass martial artist (without any trainning) seems more like an anime trope than anything else. The only striking difference is that Marie has a flat chest as opposed to the DOA females who are known for having big boobas.

    • @Kanti852
      @Kanti852 3 роки тому

      1. I'm not sure what you mean when you say Ingrid is "not based on a realistic concept", but there are several non-martial artists in SF that have very unrealistic aspects about them (Bison, Blanka, Abigail). Overpowered schoolgirl? That's not any weirder than an overpowered self-proclaimed god who's half blue and half red. Flying into space on a Buddha? Is that really any more goofy than Zangief destroying the Psycho Drive by repeatedly slamming Honda onto it? Her being stronger than Bison? You seem to have forgotten than Dan is also stronger than Bison. TOTALLY CANON.
      2. The fear of replacing a beloved classic like Eddy does warrant some backlash, sure. But from what I can tell, none of it has gone away even with Eddy's return. Also, I remember hearing that Josie might be a sort-of replacement for Bruce (because she was the closest thing to his fighting style? Idk) It may not be true, but if it is, where's all the Josie hate? Does no one really care about Bruce? And calling her "annoyingly goofy" is purely subjective. Zack, Dan & Johnny Cage are all loved for their goofiness, why is Chloe different? "Cheap weeaboo bait" just seems to mean "cutesy", so moving on. "Fit in with the rest of the Tekken veterans"? You mean you want to see more of the same thing? More Mishimas? Or bears? Or other animals? What's wrong with trying something new? It seems like anything goes in Tekken, so a fighting pop idol fits in with all the martial artists, robots and mutants.
Bonus question: Do you happen to play DOA or know its lore? There's a reason Hono-cow is a kick-ass fighter "without any training".

    • @ermacn.cheese726
      @ermacn.cheese726 3 роки тому

@@Kanti852 1. I don't think you get what I mean. If you look at a lot of SF characters, they all look like they have some sort of "fight" in them. Take Sakura and Karin, although they are cute young schoolgirls, they both have a genuine fighting spirit AND they both practice a real martial art. Ingrid doesn't have either. She doesn't have a style. She's way too cutesy in her movements, and her sparkly magic powers are her only means of doing real damage. She wasn't introduced early on, so it's hard to believe her existence with the stuff we know about SF. And it's also about feeling the realistic belivablity of a character. A 7 foot tall muscular man with long flowing hair and is colored half-red, half-blue? Yes, it's completely believable that he's a really strong fighter with god-like characteristics. Ingrid does not give off that impression. I look at her, and instead of buying into her concept she's a goddess who may or may not come from an alien planet, I simply think "oh this is just anime schlock. somebody just wanted a cute schoolgirl they could ogle or probably masturbate over". Also it's not the canon endings that bother people. No one really cares that Ingrid defeats bison in her own ending. It's the fact that they once stated that Ingrid CREATED psycho power, therefore canonically making her much stronger than Bison who's body is dying because of controlling psycho power.
      2. Lucky Chloe sucks. And so does Josie Rizal. Johnny Cage, Dan, and Zack DO NOT feel like they were written just to pander to people who like pop idols or whatever Lucky Chloe is supposed to be. Joke characters like Johnny Cage are COMPETENT MARTIAL ARTISTS who just happen to be silly or comic relief. Lucky Chloe and Josie were not included because they were funny joke characters, they were included because they were cute girls. Either Harada included them because he thought they would sell more copies to people who are obsessed with having cute girls in their video games, or he just had a boner for them. That's what I honestly think why these characters exist, and a lot of others as well.
And no, I don't play DOA enough to know its lore. I just like the boobies. I personally still think that Marie Rose and Honoka look a little to inexperinced to have such skill, but it's not that a big deal because you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. And also because many people don't really take the lore as seriously as they do other fighting games.

@@ermacn.cheese726 Honestly not trying to pick a fight here, but there are issues with your points.
Sakura and Karin do NOT look like fighters. Their designs are nothing more than modified sailor uniforms with sparring gloves. If you took the gloves off, no one who was ignorant of SF could tell you that they were fighters. Their fighting spirit and identity as martial artists are not conveyed through any part of their design aside from the gloves (Sakura’s headband can only really convey sportiness). And why does it matter that she doesn’t use a particular style? Blanka, Abigail, Rose, Menat, Necro and Necalli all fit in this category. Why does it matter that magic is her main or only means of doing damage? She has one of, if not the smallest frames in the game’s history so using primarily magic makes sense. And I still cannot understand how you can accept the absurdities of old and not the ones of more recent games/characters. You also spoke about the realistic believability of someone like Gill, but I never said he was unbelievable. I said he was weird, comparable even to Ingrid. As for calling her “schlock”, that really is just your own personal taste. You have a right to it, but it’s irrelevant to making a point. She may not look like a goddess to you or any number of people, but they’re mythological beings anyway, so in a game they can really look like anything. And so what if she created Psycho power? First of all, that’s currently not true canon; second, Ingrid’s “canon” is consistently inconsistent as mentioned in the video; and third, Psycho power is a supernatural energy, so it’s believable that it was created by a supernatural being. Idk how the 2 characters’ powers compare, but if Gill is a “god” and can be beaten, then so can Ingrid. I’ve read up on Bison and it seems he has fully mastered Psycho power, and the only thing holding him back is his mortal body which is impressive enough. Ingrid is a goddess so, as far as I can tell, that’s the only reason it’s not an issue for her.
Who said Cage, Dan or Zack were for idol fans? I said they were goofy, which was your complaint about Chloe. And their competence in fighting has nothing to do with that goofiness. So again, why is only Chloe’s goofiness annoying? And you say her and Josie were included only because they were cute girls. I say, what’s wrong with that? Like I said, it seems like anything goes for playable fighters, so why are aliens, bears, and stubby-legged robots more acceptable than a pop star speaking Engrish? Also, like it or not, idol culture is a huge MAINSTREAM thing in Japan, NOT just “weeaboos”, and not just males either. It’s far more likely that these characters were added for more (Japanese) mainstream appeal.

@@Kanti852 Sakura and Karin are kinda realistic in the sense that "hey, they may be annoyingly cutesy schoolgirls, but they practice martial arts and are still human beings who want to win the tournament". Ingrid isn't that. From the (non-canon as of now) info we have on her, she swoops in and wants to kill Bison and stop the satsui no hado, despite not knowing why or how. And Sakura and Karin are early characters, before the waifu craze pushed japanese game devs to shoehorn that kind of stuff into their game. So you wouldn't easily suspect them for being cheap masturbation bait as you would nowadays. It's a good thing Ingrid is not-canon, because her creating psycho power would be utterly stupid and undermine the threat of M. Bison. The problem with Ingrid becoming canon (story beats and all) goes with a lot of series: you have to introduce it early on. If Ingrid was introduced as early as SF2 as a goddess who chapherones the human fighters, it's still silly and dumb but whatever, at least it was hinted early on. But as late as SF6 and introducing Ingrid as a goddess should rightfully piss off anyone who gives a crap about SF's story, because she still just outclasses all the major villains without looking the part and her suddenly power scaling.
I never said Johnny Cage, Dan or Zack were for Idol fans. Lucky Chloe IS for idol fans or whatever cutesy kawaii girl diehards that I personally find stupid, there's almost no debate she doesn't exist other than anything that that. A wooden dummy, a wonky robot, and a literal goddamn bear (there are no confirmed aliens in Tekken I think) are actually solid attempts at a funny joke and are unexpectedly weird. Lucky Chloe is not funny. Humor is subjective, but even so, Lucky Chloe feels much more like bait for idol fans more than attempting to parody it. She's annoying as hell, same with Josie and other high-pitched anime-based chicks newer fighting games tend to like. I don't find Mokujin, Kuma, or Combot annoying particularly because they don't talk. Nor do they feel like they were shoehorned to chase after those who like a certain thing (in this case, Idol culture).

As an outsider to the DOA franchise i think i can kinda understand the issues with Marie Rose and Honoka
    1. They look and kinda act cutesy and underaged. DOA isn't a stranger to underaged girls, Kasumi and Ayame were underaged in prior games, but they never looked and acted as such afaik. Meanwhile we straight up have Goth Lolita and Japanese school girl defaults who, from what I've seen so far, act kinda childish. Now if they were young like how the other girls were introduced I'd think whatever but apparently they were 18 on introduction which makes me think
    2. They're explicitly bait characters. Now, DOA is also no stranger to using its assets to its advantage, Volleyball anyone?, but these two feels like they were for a specific group that fell hook, line and sinker for it. To the point where
    3. They've effectively become the faces of the franchise despite being extremely recent. Like said in the video, these two get pushed the hardest since they have recent popularity, which, for long time fans can be annoying since most of the characters with decades of good will built are getting sidelined by the new bait. While it's true that pushing the new popular thing is smart, it doesn't mean people are happy about it.
Like I said, I'm an outsider and thus have no issue with them since I don't care to begin with but I think I can understand the hatred.

Ingrid seems to be kind of like the word “moist” -people only claim to hate her because of peer pressure, you’re “supposed” to hate her.
In addition to the factors you mentioned with Chloe I think another reason people hated her so much is because she’s “too Japanese” or “too anime” for a lot of the American fans, who like pretending Tekken is an Americanized, “manly” game series and having a cute idol is way too far. She belongs in the game way more than fucking Negan, that’s for sure.
Marie Rose and Honoka are by far the dumbest ones. None of the complaints about them really make any sense seeing as DOA’s reputation is and has always been being a booba game. Marie’s only real difference from the rest of the cast is that she has a small chest, lmao. Also, DOA has always been an “actually legit fighting game”. People just overlooked it because the marketing focused entirely on booba and not its aspects as a fighter. Having to compete with Tekken didn’t help.
As I said with Lucky Chloe, the only thing people hate about these characters is this kind of macho American hostility to “cuteness” or moe aesthetics for being “too Japanese” or “too anime”. You see the same kind of attitude with the hostility we used to see towards things like Final Fantasy protagonists being attractive, “pretty” men. It’s honestly kind of xenophobic at the end of the day.

She can make people explode with her mind, fly without Chizuru's help, kill monsters that covered the entire earth in darkness, use her blade to again, make people explode and is implied to be the canon heroine of SNK Heroines alongside Kula, and can be wanked to scale to the Goddess Athena, which can destroy whole universes in her games.
The only reason she loses is the same reason Nakoruru doesnt kill people on KOF14. It is forbidden to kill your foes.
and yet some people love her.

Then for it to be changed to magic, magic, & magic (Then in SFV killing one of the considered strongest with bullet), I think took away from the "Street Fighter."
While there's obviously loads of magic, strength became outclassed immensely.
For Lucky Chloe, I think I could only remember Twitter anger over sexualization or high femininity?
Though the Eddie argument I could see, he always held an important place to alot of people, even those who played competitively (Love or hate), so to see what was basically his moveset just inferior, probably annoyed people.

Bears and Puppets and sexy women are fine because they can "reasonably" put up a fight- as in, it's not too far beyond suspension of disbelief. Then you get non-fighters who are literally just little girls, their background doesn't speak much to combat skills.

Bro, your excuse for Lucky Chloe *REALLY* sucks, which doesn’t really surprise me after knowing what kind of weeb you are. But let me explain why Lucky Chloe is hated.
Tekken 7 in general has possibly the worst cast of new original characters in the entire franchise. Shaheen is basically Banco‘s version of Rashid just blander, Katarina is Rule 63 Miguel, Josie has the stereotypical „i don’t want to fight“ attitude whilst just copying Bruce‘s playstyle, Gigas is just a brainless Marduk, Kazumi is the biggest wasted potential in Tekken history who only brought up more questions than answers and then of course, we get Lucky Chlie, a J-Pop star with all the annoyance of one too. The only character i can praise is Claudio because he is an interesting and unique character that contributes to the main ongoing story, even if he looks like a Final Fantasy 15 character (oh the irony). And i would even give Gigas the pass because he actually looks really cool. And no, i don’t really count Master Raven because she is basically him, just with some tweaks in character. Those may not be bad in general, but extremely lazy and generic characters compared to others like Bob, Miguel, Bryan, Yoshimitsu and even Zafina. (I know, i didn’t include DLC‘s like godlike Leeroy Smith, but that’s because they are that, DLC‘s.) And again, whilst most of them aren’t bad and more so just generic and uninspiring, Chloe *is* bad and annoying.
And story wise, there is a difference in characters getting a Looney Tunes ending on the side non-canon and getting the same treatment in Canon. Paul and Law dying in an explosion in Tekken 6? Non canon. Hwoarang fighting Devil Jin in Tekken 5 ending? Canon. And all the „stories“ in Tekken 7 have a hint of Canon in it. Hwoarang wears his eyepatch because of his rematch with Devil Jin. King using moves of his friends and others. And yes, out of Eddie and Chlie‘s endings, Chloe‘s is seemingly Canon. In a „6 million copies sold“ celebration poster, you can see Eddie being basically Lucky Chloe‘s servant, which means that Loony ending you spoke of turned real for Eddie.
Do proper research before trying to defend trash.
