I've used my wifes iPhone 14 Pro quite a bit. This review perfectly echoes what I've seen. When the iPhone lands its shot it looks mind blowingly good. But it sincerely over sharpens. The pixel looks a bit "safer" with its processing. I would have liked to see a small section of the video showing RAW shooting but I'm aware I'm in the minority. Amazing review Tom. Thank you
Photo quality is a tie I would say. Sometimes iPhone is better, sometimes Pixel is better. Other times the quality is the same (you can barely tell the difference) But in video quality as has been the case for the last 6 years, iPhone is still ahead of any other phone. Google did a good job of catching up in the video department this year and it's quite good... but still behind the iPhone.
The accuracy of the colours with the Pixel is crazy good! 🔥iPhone strangely most of the time shows fake colours , like having an effect always applied..
Too close to call in many cases it’s preference. I’d like to see the pixel 7 pro vs the iPhone 13 Pro camera since the over sharpening doesn’t seem to be an issue with the 13 pro.
They're both amazing, equally impressive, mostly. But I'm still in awe of video quality of my old 2nd gen iPhone SE and watching this because I'm considering a Pixel for my next phone.
Really amazed that pixel pulled out so far with their cameras and minds are blown. I jumped the ship after waiting for P6 last year from Android to iOS with the IP 13. Since video and photo quality mattered a lot to me and iPhone is still ahead even this year in video in the harshest of conditions plus content creation aspects with ProRaw and ProRes are just next level. But if I wouldn't have switched to iOS I may have just stayed with Android and P7 pro and also if video (specially at low light) didn't matter to me as well. Still, anyone who doesn't care about the video that much (it's a 8 to 9.5 comparison anyways) should go with the pixel 7. I mean i love the features and what tensor can do, it is kind of the smartest phone around and I'm so jealous right now that why didn't this happen last year.
It all comes down to what you prefer overall. There's some shots in this video where I put the Pixel over the iPhone and vise versa. The video recording however, I have to tip the scale more to iPhone.
It seems like google has the software advantage and the zoom while Apple has the remaining hardware advantage. Given the available apps, hardware that handles the low-light preventing noise is vital where as a long zoom is a luxury for me. Thanks for such an incredible side by side!!!
For me is Pixel for photos and iPhone for videos. If I was forced to choose one, I would go with the iPhone as it looks far more polished and reliable to me than the Pixel. When you consider prices tho, as someone who lives in the Eurozone, it's hard to look at an iPhone as an "everyday phone" because it's €1.339 for the base (128GB) iPhone 14 Pro (non-Max) which is straight awful but it's a common thing with iPhones here: even the base iPhone 14 goes for more than 1k...
The pixel is quite good. We just need to give Google some time to settle and boost up their tenser chip and then we could see Google true potential. But for now the quality is good! Great video with an abundance of details and exemple. We'll done
Pixel microphone capture is superior, in comparison the iPhone is muffled in the midrange and rolled off in the highs. Interesting that this feature only gets like 15 seconds of time and no commentary. I'd love to see a comparison of audio recording quality for speech and music at different volume levels.

I'm not going to lie, I think it's a little ridiculous how these phone reviews come down to, like only the camera quality. The iPhone photos look way more contrasty, oversharpened and saturated in a couple of your examples. Its not that big of a deal since they both already offer great quality, but the higher dynamic range on the pixel and subtle picture profile would be better for a quick edit in lightroom. When it comes to video though, there's no doubt the iPhone is way ahead.
Both take great pictures, iPhone remains king of smartphone video. Whichever of these two you buy, you're guaranteed to get great shots 99% of the time. Great video as always!
I if someone gonna buy on of these two, you should based your decision on your budget + the software. Cinematic video is a great feature but the real question here will you use it all of the time? Nice Video Tom. These are both so close, I don't think you can go wrong with either. The quality of the camera on thr flagships is now amazing. It's still a phone after all. Keep up the good work. It's great to have a tech reviewer from the uk
What happened to the iPhone's photos these days? They are way too sharp. Contrast is through the roof. It's so weird to see Apple going in the opposite direction of what it used to do. I guess the 'natural look' is no more.
A lot of reviewers have mentioned over sharpening it’s quite possible that Apple could adjust that in software on iOS 16.1 which will be coming out at the end of this month
Neither of the cameras on these phones justifies their respective prices. They are just an overhyped piece of half-baked software tricks aimed at people who know nothing about photography. Just buy a cheap mirrorless camera.
It will definitely get them, most likely he’s running the pre released software too. The iPhone never improves/fixes anything until the new phone next year.

As an amateur astrophotographer it's simply insane what the pixel did in 3 and a half mintues. You're getting a good part of the milky way galaxy with an almost full moon on a smart phone. I'm in Western Australia. With the same size memory selected the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs almost 2.5 times what the Pixel 7 Pro does! Pixel is a price/performance beast. Recent updates have made things like Cinematic mode a lot better too.
Damn pixel nailed it this year, it would have been nice if we had a bit more on the pixels zoom capabilities
Nailed it ?😂 watch super saf camera comparison the 14pro win overall
@@Phantom-vn3nz if you are a photographer the pixel is the right choice for you but of you are a videographer you can go with the iphone
@@hamchikmix7887 if you want to upload snaps to instagram then pixel may be a better choice. If you’re a photographer then the iPhones proraw mode is leagues ahead of the pixel.
@@69memnon69 proraw isn't for everyone
@@69memnon69 I think the iPhone is actually a better choice for instagram, it has more "social media frendly" shots (aka more saturated and bright) plus the ig app on iOS is far better than the android one for some reason...
Nice Video Tom. These are both so close, I don't think you can go wrong with either. The quality of the camera on thr flagships is now amazing. It's still a phone after all. Keep up the good work. It's great to have a tech reviewer from the uk
Supersaf is also a great UK reviewer
100% agree, and thanks James
Pixel no way near iPhone for videos.
@@aditya.chandel It's so close. I can't wait to get my Pixel 7 Pro. I don't care for iOS.
@DANIEL CHUKWUKERE go touch some grass bro
Closer than i thought. But Pixel lower price is a massive pull.
In India Pixel 7❤️ Pro costs 84,999 Rupees compared to iPhone 14 pro Max which costs 1,49,999 Rupees🤦. So Pixel is best Flagship option in India💯
Both did great. Pixel 7 Pro could use some software magic to fix its shortcomings, all around its entirely preference.
It'll get them. I'm impressed by it. I'm getting mine tomorrow.
It will definitely get them, most likely he’s running the pre released software too. The iPhone never improves/fixes anything until the new phone next year.
@@catboy3471 They dont improve the Cameras in small monthly patches, Googles does. The P6P improved over the Months after the release. The IP13Pro not, it just got kinda security updates. (Dev-Patchnotes btw)
Is there a specific "software magic" that needs to be used for the Pixel 7 Pro to fix this? I'd be glad to hear
iPhone >>> Pixel 7
Já vi dezenas de vídeos assim, e esse foi o melhor e mais legal de se assistir 👍
Vendo do Brasil 🇧🇷
*Bom trabalho* ☺️👍
As an amateur astrophotographer it's simply insane what the pixel did in 3 and a half mintues. You're getting a good part of the milky way galaxy with an almost full moon on a smart phone. I have no words, wow just wow. Though it's nowhere close to what a dslr or a mirror less camera could do in a 30s exposure it still goes to show you how much google has improved and how they're making astrophotography (widefield) accessable.
iPhone is more consistent with the better image and video IMO, even though Pixel wins in some of the scenes.
