Pierrot Lunaire & Histoire du Soldat, Reinbert de Leeuw, 1984 | Holland Festival Parels

Tijdens Holland Festival 1984 presenteert het Schönberg Ensemble o.l.v. Reinbert de Leeuw twee muziektheaterproducties: “Pierrot Lunaire” en “Histoire du Soldat”. “Pierrot Lunaire” is een melodrama bestaande uit 21 gedichten die oorspronkelijk gereciteerd worden door een actrice. Op tekst van Charles Ferdinand Ramuz en muziek van Igor Stravinsky vertelt “Histoire du Soldat”, uit 1918, het verhaal van een soldaat die zijn viool verkoopt aan de duivel. In het fragment zijn repetitiebeelden van beide stukken te zien en wordt Reinbert de Leeuw geïnterviewd over “Pierrot Lunaire”.
At the 1984 Holland Festival, the Schönberg Ensemble, conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw, presents two music theater productions: "Pierrot Lunaire" and "Histoire du Soldat". "Pierrot Lunaire" is a melodrama consisting of 21 poems originally recited by an actress. With text by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz and music by Igor Stravinsky, "Histoire du Soldat" tells the story of a soldier who sells his violin to the devil. The excerpt shows rehearsal footage of both pieces and Reinbert de Leeuw is interviewed about "Pierrot Lunaire."

Naar aanleiding van het 70-jarig jubileum (2017) en het 75-jarig jubileum van Holland Festival (2022) hebben het festival en de VPRO onder de naam ‘Holland Festival Parels’ een duurzaam online platform ingericht. Het publiek vindt hier korte televisiefragmenten uit en over producties, die het Holland Festival de afgelopen zeven en een half decennia in Nederland presenteerde. Deze televisiefragmenten van diverse publieke omroepen zoals de NTR en VPRO zijn vaak eenmalig op televisie te zien geweest. Ze zijn nu als hommage en als online archief beschikbaar gemaakt.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary (2017) and the 75th anniversary of Holland Festival (2022), the festival and the VPRO have set up a sustainable online platform under the name 'Holland Festival Gems’. Here, the audience will find short television excerpts from and about productions presented by the Holland Festival in the Netherlands over the past seven and a half decades. These television fragments from various public broadcasters such as NTR and VPRO have often been shown once on television. They have now been made available as a tribute and as an online archive.
