Sitting here with my 4 month old son, watching every second of this wonderful video... pure joy. Only thing better will be when he comes flying with me. Thanks, Kermit!
Very Good Kermit....!!! I Didn't know that you are a great pilot ever...also you are an aircraft keeper....and more .....Congrats..!!! you are my hero......keep going....I will follow you forever...!
It doesn't matter how many years of flying I had, I always felt blessed to be up there and your videos bring that feeling right back again. Thanks so much for sharing.
Kermie cams are the best, the amount of knowledge stored in your head to get your beautiful aircraft into the air, be it they all require the same things, every bird is different in it's layout. Kudos to you, Kermit. Well done and thank you very much!
5:33 - you can see the slats closing. Fantastic explanations, camera work, and unrushed presentations, as usual. I'm a pilot and I love always learning all sorts of new bits and pieces about things that "we others" would never learn or see from these people. Pointing at things while on the ground, and in the air, while constantly talking about it makes all the difference. Thanks again! Zenith 701 & ASW19 maniac & Weeks junkie
Thanks for preserving this clattering, maintenance heavy radial engined piece of history. Each year we get further away from this era and it is great to see the way things actually were.
I believe the hand signals with captions may be the best demonstration of the shifting attention inside the cockpit I have ever seen. Nice flying. Looks to me like you've been taking her up everyday.
Those pesky storms concern me,batten down the hatches at Fantasy of Flight your collection is priceless, and please everyone in the area look after yourselves.
Well. I can only HOPE for the Future of vintage Aircraft. There is someone as Caring Knowledgeable and selfless as Kermit willing to keep the spirit of Everything he has worked so hard for Going after he is gone. This man is a living legend. Thank you for bringing us a piece of history 1 flight at a time
How cool would it be to be living close to you, sitting out the back chugging on a couple of coldies and hearing you coming...Then seeing whatever you are flying and thinking, yep that man is in his element!!
Regarding the 45° AOA and the 70% (0.7) in part I, Kermit was spot on, sine of 45° is 0.707 (1/square root of 2). I would very much like another P-51 (B or D) Kermit Cam also possibly also with a second hooked cam in the cockpit, and showing what she goes speed wise at continuos power (46" and 2600 RPM) the setup in this was just marvelous, the thing with oil collecting in the Cyls was also very enlightening. As always the airplane's fantastic restoration is just breathtaking.
Like I said in Pt1, I was never a fan of the looks of this plane but thanks to this I have actually grown to think that it really IS a pretty snappy little thing. Thanks Kermit!
I didn't know who you were until 2001 when I was driving past Fantasy of Flight. I stopped and enjoyed a wonderful day of aviation. Keep doing these videos, they educate us terrifically. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing. You know I saw a red stimson at Selsy gliding club (UK) in 1967. Was used as a glider tug. An aircraft with an amazing history. Thanks for the flight, Kermit.
I enjoyed that flight as much as you did Kermit ! what a machine the Vultee Vigiliant is ( RAF name on those lease lend examples we had ) ,you were working hard on those enormous flaps and I think once you have flown this wonderful beast of a machine a few times then you will be landing it in a few feet, the immaculate restoration is evident and the sound of that radial music to my ears, you say long grass but I bet these have taken off on far worse makeshift runways,it seems heavier on the controls than a Storch but I would imagine on a cross country flight would trim out nicely to ease pilot handling. So the slats come out automatically at low speeds and seem to really grab the airflow around the leading edge, this really is a belt and braces AOP machine built to do a specific job,a rare bird that I know you will continue to enjoy and look after, next time that you go to see your Lockheed Vega restoration why not use this as your taxi !
Great, informative ride along as always Kermit! Share the sentiment of many that you, family and all associated with FOF weather the storm without incident. Best wishes!
Thanks for the ride along! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! FYI, I'll be saying a few prayers this weekend for the hurricane to pass over you! You sure don't need anymore storm stories! GL & God's speed!
I used to gaze up and watch the C-119's flying over our house, toward the southwest and Dayton, ( Wright Pat ) and dream about what it would be like! When you waved down to the traffic below, some kid started gleefully telling his Mom and Dad, " There really was a man in that plane that waved at me...I know what I saw!" And then that's when the Airfoils start sticking out the windows and the imagination begins! Bravo Sir, and here's another salute to you for a fine flight! Poor Connie, grazing at the end of the strip and watching as her little brothers hop up from the ground and take to the air where she once was the Queen! Hey Kermit....I just thought of something that would be really cool. That is if you sat down with a glass of N n' J and made a video of you telling of some of your meetings of the famous flyer's you have met over the years! would love to hear em'!
Lovely flight in a fine aircraft. The idling issue reminded me of when a car of mine had a dirty "idle air control valve" and used to switch-off at junctions.
I wish I was there for a ride. A real hands on aircraft. One on my first aircraft to work on was a stearman Many years ago as well as a Beech-18. I enjoyed working on them.
We plan to do a side by side comparison of them soon, including slow flying. After that, we'll all have our opinions to argue as to which is the better.
@@KermitWeeks444 That would be very interesting. I think the Storch has a slight advantage on take off, but the Stinson could beat it in other categories. Please do it! Thanks for sharing your videos! They're Great!
Thank you Mr Weeks for an interesting flight on this nice, light aircraft such as the S. L-1. Just wondering if the windshield is plexiglass? Saludos from Uruguay.
Mr. Weeks sir. I am just a factory worker building farm machinery in Holland Mi. I own not a single airplane.....Probobly never will..is it ok with you if i live my dreams through you and your videos. They are excellent and look forward to every one....like i do Plannnne Savvvverrrrs from Mikey Mc Bryan. Mr weeks....keep.them coming. When.and if i back to Florida again I WILL stop and see your museum. Found out 8 years ago at 40 i should have made aviation my livelihood instead of designing transplanters for agriculture.
As a pilot an A&P ,I do love you showing all you do with planes that I would never fly, but you make it easier to dream.
Sitting here with my 4 month old son, watching every second of this wonderful video... pure joy. Only thing better will be when he comes flying with me. Thanks, Kermit!
Thanks for all that you have done to save the old planes.
What a lovable old Bird! Thanks Kermit!
Very Good Kermit....!!! I Didn't know that you are a great pilot ever...also you are an aircraft keeper....and more .....Congrats..!!! you are my hero......keep going....I will follow you forever...!
That's what you call a "Flying Machine". Magnificently presented by Kermit.
Too "modern" to be called a flying machine.
It doesn't matter how many years of flying I had, I always felt blessed to be up there and your videos bring that feeling right back again. Thanks so much for sharing.
So great to see the Stinson back in the air!

Excellent film footage and sound. Great commentary.
SUPERB!! KERMIT is the Queen of the UK!! Kermit will still be flying in a 100 years!
Excellent instructive video, Kermit! The text and hand gestures really helped understand what you were doing. Thanks! Love the L1.
Thanks for the ride-along. All the best with whatever the hurricane brings across central Florida.
I believe the hand signals with captions may be the best demonstration of the shifting attention inside the cockpit I have ever seen. Nice flying. Looks to me like you've been taking her up everyday.
Unique video history from Kermie and technique for the pilots of the future , can't say enough good words to you Kermit.

Never a dull day at FOF, Kermie Cams are the best thing on UA-cam. Great film and thanks for posting.

Fantastic, thanks so much.
Great flight Mr. Weeks!
Thanks, Kermit. What a plane.
@Kermit Weeks Thanks for another great video Mr. Weeks. Thanks for sharing your fun with us!
I understood all the instrument sign language, like it. In the pattern at your own place gotta be fun! Yea, yea, yea, yea, yeaaah.
He was having fun, new what he was doing

Outstanding aircraft...first time I actually saw an L-1 fly!
Big thanks for sharing all of this with us ! Always great !! Thank you !!

A beautiful plane .... thanks for this great tour and flight. greetings from Germany✌
One of the coolest starter sounds in all of aviation.
You were busy on this flight giving us hand signals and demonstrating instruments and slats. Very good.

Great side angle shot Kermit! :-]. And you have a Storch as well..... A Westland Lysander would make a great trio!

My driving lessons were never this exciting! Hope the storm misses and the only thing that l found scarey were those legs!!😂Thanks Kermit.
Excellent videos, thank you!
Hope that Dorian doesn't cause any heavy damage when it comes through Best of luck !!
Great flight as usual. Love watchin you fly the old planes around just wish I could be with ya.
Great Cam positioning etc!

Impressed with the relaxed way that you deal with the workload. I realize that some instruments are duplicated on other aircraft, but even so.
John Blunt He does have tons of experience. Don’t know how many hours and how many different planes.

Reminds me of flying in a Dehaviland Caribou no frills flying in Vietnam. Noisy breezy and dusty. Best ride ever.
Great, thanks for sharing!
hope the storm doesn't mess with the plane this time be safe and hope to see everything o.k. next video, we enjoy them greatly kip
Was smiling the whole time. Watching here from the Philippines.
Great ride-along! Thanks!
Great video. enjoyed it very much thank you.
Thanks so much for letting me go with you
Engine sounds real sweet. Super flight. Thanks Kermit.
Hope you'll get everything tied down and manage to get thru this damn hurricane coming.
Great bush pilot right there!. I loved it kermie, thanks
Thanks Kermit. That was very interesting. Loved it.
I live 5 minutes away from fantasy of flight, and I’d love to meet you and interview you for my school blog!
great vid...many thanks for the ride
Thanks for sharing this. Really enjoy the show.
Great ole bird
Wow! Just for an instant with your helmet cam I caught the aroma of a hot radial engine. A radial has its own particular aroma.
I so wanna be Kermit when I grow up.
Kermit has a real feel for his aircraft,he becomes a part of them and love the way he shares his passion for flight with us all.
This video reminds me the smell of airplanes, such a great mix of oil, metal, fuel, and old plane smell!
Lovely flight in a fine aircraft.
The idling issue reminded me of when a car of mine had a dirty "idle air control valve" and used to switch-off at junctions.

Been waiting for part 2, thanks for taking us along!
Please be safe with the weather that appears to be coming your way!!
A great old plane!
Enjoyed very much, sir, thanks for doing these videos!
Enjoyed this very much, Thank You!
Kermit its beautiful and the sound was so fine i had to crank it up. She's a winner.
Add some more quarters go again. Thanks for the flight.
Love that airplane!
I'd love to see a STOL competition of this plane against your Fieseler Storch.
Go Fieseler!
Storch is quite abit lighter apparently, so I'd think it may have a small advantage, still it'd be a very cool comparison.
We plan to do a side by side comparison of them soon, including slow flying. After that, we'll all have our opinions to argue as to which is the better.
@@KermitWeeks444 Ever think about taking either one to oshkosh and have some fun in the stol exhibitions?
@@KermitWeeks444 That would be very interesting. I think the Storch has a slight advantage on take off, but the Stinson could beat it in other categories. Please do it!

They're Great!
Thanks! Please keep them coming...
Loved it!
Good luck with Dorian. Maybe she'll turn and go somewhere else, like back out to sea.
nice video, love the strut cam to watch the slats work
I had a lovely afternoon at kermit's Fantasy of Flight a while ago - sadly i ran out of gas on my way there - shpuld have been a whole day of fun
Stay safe Kermit.
That was great! Thanks Kermit!
É muito relaxante ver esse vídeo! 😍
🇧🇷
Very good , thank you.
the thing looks like a HOOT to fly!
Love your vids, Mr. Weeks.
Yep, saw that. Forgot to increase RPM to T/O on short final....in case of a go around. we have all done that.... nice flight!!
Thank you Mr Weeks for an interesting flight on this nice, light aircraft such as the S. L-1. Just wondering if the windshield is plexiglass? Saludos from Uruguay.
I want to see the Weeks solution fly again. 💙
I'm sure you've got all the preparations done for Dorian, but still, 'Stay safe y'all'.
Awsome flight! And brakes are highly overrated! We don't need no stinking brakes!?! LOL
Kermit, you do such a great job explaining everything you are doing with the controls, I almost feel I could fly, ( not really) thaks for the ride.
Very Nice . . . Bob

Did they do all these checks back in the day? Something tells me for the most part they would grip and rip.
Awesome 😎
How about a throat mike, Kermit? Just to add more to the real cockpit feeling for the armchair pilots!
Another good job, keep it up and thanks.
Smooth flying plane. I think I can fly it.
Damn, you’re good.
That was so cool! Thank you.
