This is the old Great Falls Middle school. My class was one of the last to go there before they built the current one next to the high school on Sunset Ave. That was 1993. Our class was the first 8th graders in the new middle school (we are class of 1998, so most of us are 40yo now). After they shut down it down as a school, they offered part of the building as renter spaces. Thats why there are beds, dressers, clothes, etc there. Im assuming that around 2009 (per the paper you found) that they evicted ppl to offer the space for developers. Watching your video brought back good memories! I remember dances we had in the gym, learning about instruments in the satellite chorus room, waiting on the bus outside, etc. The building still holds a place in the hearts of the town. And no, being next to the graveyard never freaked anyone out, lol. But thank you for posting this video! Know that it came back to life for a bit for me while watching!
Another awesome find and video can't wait for more. They should use the abandoned buildings for homeless people or make them into apartment complexes. It's amazing to see an old typewriter because you don't see them now
Up here in western PA they've saved elementary schools much older than this one and turned them into apartments for those that are 65+. Schools built in the 1920's with the original moldings and high ceilings and tall windows. They're beautiful. I'd love to live in one someday.
Erin Harris This is Great Falls SC. I know you can’t know anything about it because it’s so small people from there would never ask “What part of GF you live in”. You have to do research.
Bonnie S - I’m in Western PA. There’s an old school in Lawrence County that was turned into apartments. I guess the school district must’ve downsized schools & didn’t need that one. 🤷♀️. There’s another school here in Butler County where I live one that’s just falling apart that someone needs to buy & fix up. I’d love to, but I can’t afford it. I have so many ideas for that building, but my luck, I’ll probably be wasting more money than I’d be bringing in.
This was an awesome explore. It looked like an elementary school. I think you were right, the leaky roof is probably what led to it being abandoned. It's good to see you out and about. Have a wonderful holiday season.
This was Great Falls middle school in great falls south Carolina it's my hometown my sister attended this school someone lived in it for years! there used to be a huge red devil painted on the wall in the gym! You should check out the old boys military school in winnsboro south Carolina its completely abandoned!
If you listen you can still hear the kids laughing and giggling in the halls and class rooms. I can even smell the newness of the books and the ink on the papers. Brings back such good memories.
Hey- A little paint, a little love, and NOT!- place is roached, shame they couldn't come up with another use for it-anyway Merry Christmas! Happy holiday and happy new year to you and yours ! and thanks for another great year of explores ! ☮❤
The gym/auditorium is one of those "multi-purpose" rooms. It has a stage for band recitals, occasional movies (probably had a pull down screen), rallys, etc. Judging by the flat roof and glass block upper windows on the classrooms, I'd say this building was probably built around 1940. I noticed it had modern fire alarm pull stations (main fire alarm panel was in principal's office), modern exit signs, and modern panic bars on all the exterior doors.
We used to live in a old school house turned 4 bedroom home some time in the 1950's. It was built right around 1900, and the whole upstairs was still just as it was when it was a functioning school. It was very cool, I loved that house!! Then the Flood of 1993 in Valmeyer, Illinois happened, and they tore down the place with out even thinking twice about it. I even tried to push for it to go on the Illinois historical places to be saved, but they didn't care.... go figure! It definitely looks like squatters were living there. So sad to let it waste away! Would make a good homeless shelter! Was Bekah okay, she just didn't seem like her usual bubbly self on this adventure.... I was cracking up on those old desks. I feel ancient now, they were the normal desks we had in elementary school, and in some of the high school too!! Peace and Love to you both!! Kim ~
Rick, you said about other urban explorers and how you and Bekah never find places like this....omg. Dude. Stop. Your videos ROCK! You both are stars in my eyes!! Keep on rocking, my friends. As an empath, these videos are medicine for the soul.
I'm from North Carolina I will say that the reason they close it down they must have wanted a modern school. East Montgomery high School my old school in biscoe North Carolina was closed down because they wanted a new modernized school. It's amazing they don't keep up old buildings that's still in tip-top shape.
I went to school there. But this old man use to live in the school. He lost it due to taxes. He's still living in a nursing facility. So, those house items came from him.
Hi Rick & Bekah!what a neat find.all the clothes & random stuff is from homeless people seeking shelter.furniture probably people used this place as a dump.Merry CHRISTmas!!!!
Hey there Rick and Becca Rebecca I just want to say Merry Christmas I hope you have a great one and I always enjoy your videos keep up the good work and a Happy New Year
Always love Rick and Bekah videos as they are so smooth. Rick and Bekah say the "Gimball" does the work. I don't really know what that is, but so many other explorers claim to have those and they never have the quality of videos you do. To me it is likely a combination of the two. Most likely being your camera experience. The typewriter was likely made In Peoria, Illinois from what I can see. It looks one that was made close to where I live. I hope you had a Wonderful Christmas!
The name of the school was Elizabeth heights. That was an all black school for 1st-12th graders. After they integrated the schools it became a middle school. All high school students went to great falls high and elementary went to great falls elementary.
I have never seen a abandoned school in my life. Everywhere I lived they would keep them up. But I have heard of people turning schools into homes. I don't know if all the buildings there are in bad shape.
It was a high school for the Black children before segregation. It was called Elizabeth Heights High. Then it was turned into a middle school after segregation and named Great Falls Middle school. When the new middle school was built, the school was not used anymore. There was some attempts to turn it into a recreational and development center but things fell through.
This school was abandoned the year I was born, and was recorded when I was 26 and already had a bachelor's degree. Yeah, it's been a while since anyone went here. If it closed in 1993 (at the conclusion of the 1992-1993 school year) that means the youngest people to go here would have been born in 1980-1983 (depending if it started in 4th ('83), 5th ('82), 6th ('81), or 7th grade ('80). Looks like a good place to film Life After People. Camera guy: I found a room with plants growing *in the floor.* Producers: Brilliant! Start recording!
it was Great Falls Middle School.... before that is was known as Elizabeth Heights which was a all black school before schools was integrated Great Falls "little devils" the colors was Green and Gold The outside buildings.... the door to the left was the band and chorus room or (music room), the door to the right was for handicap children and special needs children.
A local homeless man lived there for several years, he was placed in a nursing home maybe 4 or 5 years ago when he could no longer take care of himself
Also if you guys are ever back in Great Falls.... look me up and I'll see if I can get you into the old nitro plant. This plant was built in the early 1900's and is one of only two in the world... The other was located in Germany and exploded in the 1930's Or I can see if I can get you inside the hydroelectric plants for a tour/video
This is in great falls Sc where I live. The school was called Elizabeth heights. A homeless man was living in there that’s where the weird stuff is coming from. He used to push those baby strollers through town
Hi Rick & Bekah! 👋🏻 Very cool explore! All of the furniture, clothing, purses, ect. were most likely props for school plays. The old typewriter was awesome. I’m surprised the keys weren’t locked on it. I love the old school desks, especially when you (Bekah) were sitting in one perfectly still. That was actually kinda creepy! Lol. The school was probably closed because it was full of asbestos and they likely outgrew it. The other two buildings were probably extra classrooms. Great video you two!! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your families!! 🎄🦌🛷🎅🏻🎄
Holle Guy's. Tell you Guy's of this old Abandoned school in North Carolina. The old west buncombe high school in west buncombe and elementary Lee's Creek road in west buncombe Asheville North Caroline 8..,mile's from Asheville north Carolina to old Leicester road!
At 14:55 that room you found is called a "pipe chase". Were you using your Olight Seeker 2? I haven't seen you using it since your video review of it. I thought you might mention how great it is once in a while, lol. We had a school near hear that was probably from the same time period. At least 10 years ago the school district closed it and had it demolished with no explanation.
I remember those old desks from my grammar school, though ours still had the cutout for the ink well on them. The brickwork inside the bathrooms and the plumbing fixtures look vintage 1930s. Some of the classroom wings may have been newer additions. It would have been interesting to see the kitchen and dining areas. The place may be abandoned but someone is keeping the grass cut.
7:33 see that old school desk..if you farted sitting in them that hollow bottom was like a megaphone... was hard to slip one out without causing a disturbance :)
That building is developing its. own eco=system. I'm going to guess that the roof needed major repair and the building no longer met code. It was probably cheaper to build a new modern school that reflected the subjects students needed for the 21st century. Interesting find.
Check out the weird stuff happening in Waterloo sc right above school around large powerlines; seen two helicopters fly over road( no numbers on tail ( color was white)
I went to sixth grade at this school this was Great Falls Middle School before they built the new one but before it was the middle school it was Elizabeth Heights High School which was an all Black school before they integrated the school's my mom went to thos high school

Valencia 3340 Thanks for the info on the school. That makes sense. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much interest in preserving old school buildings. It's sad to see beautiful old schools torn down and replaced with the the bland schools they build today.

Fun explore! The moss and ferns taking over inside is just too cool!! Hope Bekah's feeling better. Please keep making and sharing 👍👍
I love the little jungles,I was waiting for the Gnomes to come out! LOL!

Very nice old school 🏫 nice stuff 😁
I wish they had asked people about this history of this school because it has a story. This is my hometown. I’ve walked the halls of that school.
I went to school there it Great falls middle school.
It’s a shame they don’t take places like this, and fix them up for homeless people!

We don’t have homeless people in Great Falls.

Great school - Bekah your camera work is awesome. Tell that dude to relax a bit. He takes away from the scenery with his quick walking and talking.
Yay something awesome to watch before bed thanks guys 😊💜
This was an awesome explore. It looked like an elementary school. I think you were right, the leaky roof is probably what led to it being abandoned. It's good to see you out and about. Have a wonderful holiday season.

I found one here in Wa. State... walked around and filmed it. It was so awesome!!! Check it out on my channel. :)
Not all, but a lot around here are. After the mills closed down, everything else kind of dried up as well.
Fantastic!

I went to a Catholic school for a year and a half, and the desks looked exactly like those.
That shower @5:16 instantly took me back to the nightmare that was jr high gym class.
Finally new video!
Hey y'all I noticed on the huge poster GFMS so I'm assuming it's a middle school....loved the explore....thanx
Great Falls sc..about 20 mins from me..i think someone use to live in it bc everytime we go buy there were cars and a van there
Good Old Great Falls Middle...right around the corner from the old house.
Such a cool explore !!
Looks like a good place to film Life After People.
Camera guy: I found a room with plants growing *in the floor.*
Producers: Brilliant! Start recording!
Awesome I could take you to another abandoned school here in sc if you come back
I like the part, with bekah in the desk! and maby a yard sale was held there at one time, because of all the funiture around.
it was Great Falls Middle School.... before that is was known as Elizabeth Heights which was a all black school before schools was integrated

I can’t see this as being an all black school first, this large and was built in the 1930’s🤔
awesome now you can do Abandoned school, Abandoned hospital and Abandoned factory
This is in great falls Sc where I live. The school was called Elizabeth heights. A homeless man was living in there that’s where the weird stuff is coming from. He used to push those baby strollers through town
I could be remembering someone else, but I think he’s not actually homeless. He owns either that land or other land nearby the school.
Erin Harris maybe I’m just assuming lol

Bekah does excellent camera wrk, most folks are to jerky or swing it around to fast and that would Prbly be me. Ha

Record during night time. It’ll make it more spookier and intense for your viewers ❤️
Some of the stuff around the stage looked like props for plays. Bekah, you looked like you didn't feel well.
It’s the old middle school. It use to be Elisabeth heights
“Awfully quiet neighbors” ☠️ ... can’t imagine tho ✌🏻
5:07 that's one of those flush valve toliets...they shake the walls and sound like a 747 taking off when you flush them
lol
All the clothes and furniture behind the stage in the rooms in the beginning was probably for the drama club or for plays
I pass this place a couple times a month. Have you gone recently i wanna go check it out!!
Seems a shame to see how lifeless that building is, great vlog. happy Holidays, Rick and Bekah.
first time watching these two,is the girl always this excited about the explores?

It was originally Elizabeth heights then it was great Falls middle school until a new school was built in the 90s
Is this directly next to the high school that is still open? 409 Sunset Ave?
With the items and empty boxes. It looks to me at one time a Thrift Store operated there.
pretty cool school
They always place schools beside graveyards.

My dad went to school here
Same type of typewriter we used when I was in typing class in high school
Someone seemed really over it on this one...
Did you know that in 1994 South Carolina schools ranked 49 th in the nation?
People live there. I heard man won some lottery money and bought it. I live about 10 mins away . Greatfalls sc
Merry Christmas!
I’ve went to this school with my friends to explore just like them I live in great falls so there’s not much to do
Those books look in good condition
is it still there?
I live in great falls
What town is this in?
I also wonder if the area with all the furniture may have been the old home economic class
Someone lived here after it closed
🎊🎄🎇🎆🎉🍷Happy New Year!2020🍷🎉🎆🎇🎄🎊
👍👍👍
I dont know if you can or not but do you think you can revisit abandoned house #89
That’s one I would like to go back and check. Not sure if we’ll be in Tennessee in the near future though. No guarantees. Sorry.
I looked this school up and it said it was closed in 2012
I have 2 of the green health books😂
Whereabout in SC are you? That is my home where I grew up
This is Great Falls, SC
Walking Dead could film a scene or two here!
