Yes please more "Saffitz in the Wild"! Do do do la la laa. Omg now you can add a berry bush to the intro
Claire saying MF at 5:40 is the best thing I’ve ever heard in my life. I need more salty Claire! Also, Happy Birthday Claire!
LOL I totally didn't catch that. I love that so much! Thank you, TS!
I always say "Claire could be my daughter". And that just proved it.
lol good ear :D
I came here to say this
THANK YOU Curator!
"Can you believe these just . . . grow?"
Claire's appreciation for the little things is too wholesome lmao
LOL @17:58 “there is a chicken on the deck” I was starring at your tart thinking is this some new baking term😭😭 no theres a literal chicken on your deck. great video as always!
just in case anyone was curious, wild grape is actually pretty safe/easy to forage as a beginner in the Northeast US! the main lookalike is moonseed which would taste godawful and also have one big crescent-shaped seed. nothing else really grows in a vine with similar looking leaves and black, bunched fruits. grapes, brambleberries, and silverberry are probably the easiest/safest things to get started with if you live in this area :)
5:40 Dayum. That might be the most savage Claire's ever been in the entirety of the Dessert Person history.
Love these episodes where we see her forage or like when she went clam digging!
100% agree, it helps people connect with food more imo
This was such a great video. The editing style makes me feel like I’m just hanging out with Claire in her kitchen! ◡̈
And the woods!
how the hell did you get that unicode character
and the music 🎶💜
Happy Birthday Claire! 🎂🎉🎈
I’d like to suggest naming the next cookbook “Mmmm…”
We started a SEEDLESS Concord grape vine on our garden trellis about 3 years ago and this fall got an abundance! I will be making this tart!❤️
I love this video for how relaxed and at ease Claire is! (besides the thorn attack lol) Seeing her making in the moment calls and kind of just winging it instead of sticking to a strict recipe is a refreshing change. Happy new year!
Concord grape is the quintessential grape flavor you smell and taste in candy, but rarely find the store, unfortunately. I've made so many things with them when we pick... Jam, tarts, jelly, scones, juices, candy. I hate their seeds but incredible taste. Depending on size, deseeding can be done similar to cherry destoning which will make life easier. I've never pealed the grapes, but the only ones we find in my area of Maine are single seed.
I remember the first time I ever had a fresh concord grape. I was an adult, and absolutely surprised that they tasted like grape. I had never had a grape that tasted like grape flavor before and that was such an unexpected and wild experience.
My grandma lived on a big property on a river with tons of Concord grapes she’d can and make jelly with. Now the property is sold and they bulldozed everything including the grapes to make an 8 million dollar mansion w a tennis court 😢 RIP 🪦
Oh Nooooooo. We literally drove by my spouse's childhood place where the exact same thing happened and they said they regretted not having money to buy the property when it was up for sale.@@laura54588
These foraging videos are my absolute favorite! Happy New Year to Claire and the team!
I used this recipe for some blueberries that were marked down (1.99 a pound). It turned out gorgeous. Your pie made me think of a PB&J with the purple jam like appearance custard. I used your Graham cracker crust recipe but put a couple tablespoons of dehydrated peanut butter in there. turned out beautiful. Thanks for all the tips, tricks, and techniques.
When making something out of grapes, my mom cooked the grapes whole and put them through a Foley food mill. It removes the seeds and skins of whatever you put through it and extracts all the flavor. No peeling grapes or tomatoes or apples for applesauce. It was usually my job to crank the mill. Lots of fun to watch you forage, Claire. Happy Birthday a little late!
Dimetapp is the reason I still crave grape flavored things lol
I loved that stuff.
Happy Belated Birthday Claire!! Wishing you and your family a restful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Happy birthday, Claire!
(There needs to be a foraging crossover with Brad. He can take you noodling and truffle hunting. You can take him grape picking and clam digging)
The commitment to the craft!!!!
Thanks for suffering the thorns.
Claire sounding like me while running through wild blackberry canes when the cows get out... Usually because I forgot to shut the other gate. 😂😂😂
So glad there’s a new Claire video! I’m just about to sit down for dinner 😌
More foraging content please ❤
Happy birthday, Claire! Looks incredible!
Man, that pie looks like it’s out of a video game or something, it’s like too perfect
My grandparents had concord grapes in their backyard. Eating them was fun. The grapes were tart, my great aunt made wine with them. Thanks for the walk in your backyard and my walk down memory lane. The tart looks fantastic.
Felix casually walking in front of the camera at 7:08 and demanding Claire's attention is so adorable. 😸
I love Claire in the wild
A painting of you reaching into the grape vines with a smile
Yayyyy a Claire video!!! This makes my holiday
My fave grape recipe is when they get juiced and fermented
And voila, WINE!!! 😂😂
i LOVE new england foraging! it's truly a wonderland of edible plants. try sumac some time!
I had no idea pie weights were a thing. 😄 Thanks Claire.
5:40
Appreciate Claire going through thorns for this recipe lol
Happy birthday Claire! You bright up my day every week!
I love wild fruit! We always go to a place called flin flon (northern Canada) in the summer and you can pick wild blueberries. This year I made my husband lemon cupcakes with a blueberry buttercream. And I infused the buttercream with wild blueberries. So yummy!
Claire’s joyful excitement when they find wild grapes is so wonderful to see! This looked really nice.
I grew up and still live in New England and concord grapes remind me so much of my childhood! I feel like you could always smell them before you saw them!
Happy birthday Claire! That colour on the tart is beautiful, incredible work!
Wishing you many happy returns of the day, Claire! Thanks for the lovely video.
Thank you for all the hard work you and your team have put into your channel this year. Always noticed and appreciated! Happy New Year’s!
I cannot express how much inspiration you give me and to be more explorative in general with life and food. I want a brick oven and forage for grapes now! Happy birthday and thank you for everything y’all do!

I love the informal style of this, it was helpful to see how she uses techniques and knowledge from other bakes to make up a new recipe on the fly.

my family grows grapes and this is so cool to watch!
I love concord grapes that tart looks absolutely beautiful ❤
My favorite type of video- this right HERE! These are so fun! Thank you for sharing these foraging hidden gems that we call recipe videos! I may have to make this!! I, too, now wonder what a grape pie would taste like!!! Happy New Year! ✨
your videos are my true safe space. this was wonderful. thank you claire and team!!!
Happy birthday Claire!!! 🥳💞
That tart is gorgeous!!!! Happy Birthday, Claire! What an incredible project! And delicious, I’ll bet! We spent a lot of time clearing out invasive species when we moved to our MD property 35 years ago. I wish now I hadn’t cleared out the grape vines! I made wreaths from them & still have one that I fill with evergreens every year. Now I want grapes! We have 2 native fruits in this area: paw paws and persimmons. Paw paws are custard-like with a very mild - almost bland taste, and the persimmons are incredibly astringent until after a frost.
Happy belated birthday 🎂 The grape color made very pretty tart.
Growing up we foraged scuppernong every year. Delicious!
Happy Birthday, Claire!
My sister and her kids foraged Muscatine grapes for the first time this fall in Georgia. We all got a jar of jam from her. I can't wait to tell her about this tart!
5:41 Never thought I'd see the day Claire cursing on cam 😂
Happy Birthday Claire!
I love foraging. Most of mine is done in other peoples yards (with permission) or in parks. It’s so fun to think, oh, I made that from free fruit!!! I loved that this episode is in the dead of winter, it’s a good reminder that summer, heat and growth will come again. Happy New Year, thanks for all of the wonderful content.
I just got "What's for Dessert" as a Christmas gift, and I can't wait to dig into it. Thanks Claire!
I just purchased your first two cookbooks. I heard mention of a third! Can’t wait! Your books are so beautiful and packed full of wonderful recipes!
Hope you had a lovely Christmas with your family Claire ❤😊❤
This looks so good! I'm definitely trying next year when our muscadines come in. Thank you Claire!
Claire.. I am so happy whenever you drop a longer video. Hoping to more 30 mims to maybe an hour videos in the future. hehe.
Happy Birthday Claire!!! I love you so much, and all your videos and recipes . I’ve watched you since way back in gourmet makes in BA and I’m such a fan!!! I’m always looking forward to your videos being uploaded . 😊 hope you have a great birthday and your dreams come true ! 🎉
Having flashbacks to my thesis research - had to dissect 6000+ grapes for my work lol
i loveee the foraging video…pls forage for mushrooms
I just got a bunch of tart pans for xmas, and my mom LOVES grapes, so I'll add it my list for when grapes are in season again.
Happy belated birthday! My dad loves grapes so I'm totally making this for him.
If anyone else here has played Dragon Age Inquisition, when Claire talks about peeling the grapes all I can think of is Dorian saying no one’s peeled a grape for him in weeks 😆
This is so wholesome!
I had on the subtitles, and Concord became "conquered"!! Love Claire's videos! 💖🍇
A new Claire saffitz vid in time for my lunch hour 😢 I’m so lucky
happy birthday Claire!
It's late but, Happy birthday, Claire! 🥳 and also, Happy holidays!
You tell those thorns, Claire! Love to Felix❤
Such a fun recipe! Beautiful
Happy belated Birthday Claire!
Oooooh, I do 💖💖💖 Concord Grapes!!!🍇🥰
My cousin has a bunch of different types of wild grape vines in their backyard and every season they produce enough fruit to fill multiple garbage bags, so I'm definitely remembering this for next year!!
(And also that skining technique, they usually just cut them open and de-seed them grape by grape, it takes *hours*)
i love everything about this episode
MORE FORAGING VIDS!!! YAY!
Yay! My sister has grape vines and I made a tart last year but it didn't turn out that good. Can't wait to try your recipe!
You can make this in the Midwest too using foraged riverbank grape which has a very similar flavor ☺️ you'll probably need more of them because they can be small.
Happy belated birthday! Loved this!❤️
this definitely makes me want to subscribe to the patreon!! I love this more loose recipe making and fun nature exploration
happy late birthday Claire ♥️ you are amazing
I can’t believe there are wild grapes. Dope.
This is the BEST!!!!! 💜
Happy birthday and Happy New Year!
