Wonderful in every way and incredibly moving. There are no crass tear-jerking moments, but as the film reached its conclusion, I was close to tears.
Best film of the year for me , wanted it to go on forever but I ran out of hankies , so emotional and so beautiful . Bandaras has such presence and as for that gorgeous little boy ....wonderfully cast in very way .
don't think I've ever watched a film like this, maybe I need to broaden my horizons or this film is so honest and painful that no one can match it. spectacular from start to finish. I rarely cry these days, but I wept like a child at this film. a real masterpiece.
his films do that to you! all about my mother was the first film to have me sobbing uncontrollably
Not to be confused with Pain and Gain.
Why would it be confused with that
Philip Moore ‘Pain and G____’, I, for one, got them mixed up in the auto fill on UA-cam
Talk about going from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Saw it tonight and really enjoyed it. One of Bandaras' best performances.
This was a beauuutiful movie, i cried
Always good to watch Banderas,Desperado is a classic!
Yes! Beautiful film! I was so pleased to hear this reviewer reference 8½ because I think of Almodóvar as the Fellini of our time and feel we should cherish him as such. Just thought I'd pop in and state the obvious.
¡Salud!
Yes and i love 8 1/2 one of my favourite films. Both directors are two of my favourite filmmakers
Almodovar is the greatest of directors. His films are pure art.
As a Almodovar fan, I was not disappointed by the film and its trademark: mother, emotions and the color red everywhere taking me away from the otherwise melancholic mood of the film
its a gorgeous film.
One of Almodovar’s best imo
So, Banderas was obviously playing Almodóvar or a fictional version of him. My question is, was Asier Etxeandia playing a version of Banderas? That's how I interpreted it, but I don't know Almodóvar's history well enough.
Asier was playing eusebio poncela.
Just watched it and absolutely loved it!!!!!! Hoping to see it again.
Pain & Glory was my favourite film of 2019. A wonderful film.
AWEsome film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got a digital screener for this but the people who sent it to me done goofed because it had no subtitles so I still have to wait 😭 Love your review though 😃
I regard the mother in this film as the antagonist. The first scene is her complaining about her son's weight on her back. That just sets the scene for a film full of woe-is-me whining. She whines about her mother-in-law. Then she complains about the house. Then she complains about the painter washing himself after working in her house all day. And then about her husband being in a bar. Or about the fact that it rains and part of her house gets wet. Then the old version complains about her son not being a good son, and complains about him including parts of their life in his films even though he's a famous, successful director. If this film was at all autobiographical, I'm guessing that this guy had some serious issues with his mother.
Great film
Loved it.
Should've beaten Parasite for Oscars Best Picture.

How about Parasite?????
GOT to be better than antonio Bandera's GARBAGE.. Subtitled as well.. But that doesnt deter.. I have seen some beautiful movies that were SUBTITLED but NOT THIS GARBAGE of Pain and Glory..
Good film, ending let it down though
Almodovar’s worst. Almost left the theater during the first half.
you SHOULD have !.. I left at the 58 min mark and got a FULL REFUND back from the movie manager.. I told the manger about the steller reviews online and he said "just another example of "PAID REVIEWS".. There were over ONE HUNDRED and FIVE seats available at this movie. How many seats were occupied?..Correct: just 7. WHAT does that tell you?..I was one of the "dumb 7".. Got my money back !!...so Now who's dumb?
@@joelb099 I'm confused, what about the film did you not like?
@@joelb099the ignorance in your mindset tho
its fine that you dont like it but accept that most people w intellect did
Boring
zoot soot it was good towards the end. I think it was quite good at the end but that doesn’t justify the slowness of the first part
Boring film
I have to agree. I usually love his films
No, no NO!.. This movie was GOD- AWFUL!! Slow paced?..yes!!..Boring?..Yes.. Antonio B at his worst where he displays MINIMAL acting skills and literally just "mailed it in?..Yes!. Yes!! Bad script?..Yes!!.Bad plot?..yes Again!!.. I sat thru ONE HOUR of this mess and couldnt take anymore drivel..Even the spanish to english translations dont quite translate into english equivalents...Give this movie 1/2 stars out of 5!!.. But if your a Penolope Cruz fan like I am , then ONE star out of 5 is pure Justice..Final Verdict ::skip this BOMB and ask the manager for a REFUND and see another movie in the theater..Will go down as ONE of the worst movies in 2019...
lol yea sure
