Hi! Fellow dog groomer and salon owner. I brush dogs with hair before the bath to separate the hair strands for a better clean/condition and for ease of drying!

As far as the whole reasoning behind brushing before the bath, while it does produce faster and better results when drying and brushing after the wash, it also prevents any hidden matts or tangles from getting worse during the process. I've found the FASTEST way to dry is to brush and/or shave down before the bath, then towel dry and let them shake off as much excess water as possible, and then use a standing dryer on med/low velocity while brushing-- this seems to work on most (if not not all) coat types! Detangler, quick dry spray, or any kind of leave in coat conditioner also helps this process. And speaking of matting! Corn starch and a good long pinned slicker or a mars coat king either an 8 blade or 18 blade works magic~

Clean fur does help me for brushing plus the air cleaner in shop when blow drying.
When I try talking with pet parents with their dog conditions before and after ...sometimes I feel like they not hearing me out and just seems I expect to see it again smh
    Great video

I totally feel for you. People won't hear us until they see the charges... even telling them to get on a regiment or take their dog somewhere else because it's not fair to us and the dog.

I always brush the dogs hair before their baths when they come in. When I don't there are always new mats and I do not have time for that haha. I get the majority of brushing done before the baths and once they are dry(which takes less time too) I just have to do a simple brush over before they are getting picked up. I guess we all have different methods. Kinda neat

Definitely! We are all different. I just learned to use a coat king in the tub while the shampoo is sitting for double-coated dogs. I usually use a slicker brush. Easier on my hands, less work after the blowout and their coat looks fabulous!

Honestly I miss going to the dog groomer frequently, my dad has two shih-tzu poodle mixes that I used to take to the groomer every 4 weeks and they always looked so adorable afterwards. Now I've moved away and just have a short haired chihuahua mix so we only go in every couple of months for a quick nail trim. (He's really sensitive about his feet so I find having a professionals help makes it a lot easier)

Oh my goodness- Shihpoos are the cutest! Chihuahuas are just as adorable. I've always wanted a Chih lol.
I'm sorry to hear that, I understand where you are coming from. Seeing the shear joy on a customers face during pick up never gets old. Even if we are doing the same haircut time after time. There's no reason not to stop into the salon and grab some treats from his nail tech lol. It will give him some positive reinforcement!

It must take forever to dye dog’s hair. My friend gives her dog a shower at home often. Basic bath cuz it’s really hard for your back. You are so funny and entertaining with some of the videos. You have so much knowledge and passion to the dogs. Keep up the great work.

That ponytail for days feeling is kinda how I mentally equate slight matting except the ponytail is pulling against a cluster of skin. Does that sound crazy? I know it's agony for them especially around paws, legs, joints.
My huskies were exhausting to groom. Huge Kudos to double coat groomers 🙌🏻 As a pet parent line brushing and finishing with a slicker daily (3 huskies so one got a bath and high velocity every weekend on rotation). My poor groomer did the deep seasonal coat blows 😬 she was a hero to me 😂
Now I'm waiting on my cavalier puppy so whole different grooming experience coming up. I do my best at home yet have them trained for and used to professional groomers. Puppy intro course always and monthly schedule afterwards for the first year. I try and work with my groomer for my dogs health and to make things easier on everyone and the pup.
Sorry, I get so up in my feels about grooming 😬 loved the video and congrats on the subs 🤗💖

I watched and made comment on your video working on Sasha, how well you both did and what a great shop setup. Here I just wanted to say that you are so attractive, which was not visible in the other film. I enjoyed the talk very much.

Thank you!! Once the mask mandates lifted and customers started taking off their masks... it made me realize how much I forgot what they look like underneath! Lol

I only blow a dog out before the bath if they are REALLY packed with under coat. The last Samoyed I did took me six hours. And we have two that come in once a month and one of them take a coworker 4-5 hours. But they are so satisfying.
