Realistically: this is a de facto rookie QB that needs to play. But expectations are really high among the fanbase and the natives are restless...

I watched AR in Gainesville and he was barely mediocre and mistake prone. It might work out but I was shocked he was drafted in round 1 let alone #4 overall.

AR being treated like a pocket passer isn’t ever gonna work.
He reminds me a lot of Josh Allen. He’s not inaccurate he’s inconsistent there’s a difference. He just needs reps. When you make a throw 2 times then the same ball is overthrown that’s inconsistency. He can make all the throws he just needs to do it over and over.
@@daveyusmc4863 Sure, But until then, He needs to use his legs more. Josh Allen ran the ball 8-12 times a game and still does somewhat. Lamar runs the ball 8-10 times a game.
AR should be carrying the ball 10-12 times a game even if they aren’t all designed runs.
AR has 18 carries through 3 weeks. Or 6 per game. That needs to be doubled.
JK Dobbins was number one in the NFL averaging nine yards a carry and had 44 yards against the Steelers. Their three rb’s combined only had 60 yards with a good o-line. The Steelers are first against the run and total defense. The Colts will not be able to win or even stay in the game running the ball. Too bad for Richardson they are good against the pass too. And despite what has been talked about, the Steelers can score. They just know most teams can’t beat them playing a grind it out game.
Under no circumstances should flacco play barring injury. I have about as low a confidence level in Anthony as anyone. In fact I was beside myself when they picked him 2 years ago. But flacco has zero upside and everyone knows it. Let AR play be bad and my hope is Ballard gets fired because of it because Ballard has again built a crap roster and it's showing again.
Absolutely agree. Ballard is in his 8th year. This is his roster and they are a lower level team in a lousy division.
I was saying it all summer long. There was a reason Pierce had the most snaps out of all the wide receivers in the entire n. F. L and it's not because he sucks. I was screaming it all summer even arguing with people on this channel and others LO. L when I say people I mean commenters, I'm glad he's performing so I don't feel crunchy.
Still people saying he sucks...a very small percentage of us can actually evaluate good players..it's quite strange to me

Coach Irsay has hoodwinked the Colts fan base by promoting Tony Richardson as a starter immediately. Irsay is not concerned about Tony Richardson. Irsay wants to make money without spending money. Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes did not play immediately, and they have turned out to be pretty good players. TR should be sitting out and learning how to play in the NFL. His confidence is being ruined. Coach Irsay and weak Ballard are to blame.
I almost positive AR is thinking too much instead of just reacting and making throws. I think the drops by the WRs have gotten into his head a bit. He’s physically capable of making these throws. Will he develop into that franchise QB? It’s way too early to tell.
This was always a 2-3 year project. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t want the Colts to draft him. Very few fanbases have that level of patience. They should’ve traded up for CJ Stroud, but this FO also gave up a shot at drafting Justin Herbert, so the decision making hasn’t always been the best.
I agree, last year he seems a lot more smooth and calm. This year I think a lot of it is mental. He’s already admitted that in college he wanted to compare and compete with will levis. I think he’s trying too hard to show he’s back and fine from his shoulder where he’s forcing stuff he shouldn’t.
I don't wanna see another garbage pick in the red zone this year. That's a coaching thing that has GOT to be addressed. He's gonna miss throws frequently; hopefully the good stuff outweighs the bad stuff. This team goes just as far as AR takes it.
AR will be fine he's just excited and nervous. Once the game slows down he will be fine. He even said it in press conference

AR is 22 people , bn nervous effects his play , he just came off a 2 game losing streak , of course he is nervous , he would've got AD if it wasn't knocked down , we won so let's eat off that 4 now , let AR develop he is a gem , when he get's n sync n stays calm he gon be 🔥

AR hasn’t played enough football. He’s looks awful . Just don’t hold him in the pocket let him run and teach him how to slide. Run the damn ball Steichen and the OL needs to block for AR and JT. Colts fans think AR is a different player than he was in college. News flash - he's the exact same player his pre draft critics said he was. Expectations that he would be good + improve right away were off base and now Colts fans are seeing him for what he really is - no touch, bad accuracy, erratic, bad decision making, inconsistent, etc....he's an athlete pretending to be a QB. Whether or not he figures it out is TBD, but right now he's not good
You are crazy as hell if you think the Steelers and Bears are close. You will not be able to run against the Steelers and looking at what Justin Fields did with the Bears for believing you will have success, is crazy…you won’t. You won’t score more than 10 points.
What no one is talking about is AR's mechanics. He throws off his back foot, flicks the ball, doesn't step into the throw, and the ball sails over his recivers! He has taken a step backward this year, and I keep waiting for him to start throwing the ball with good form. The games he played in last year, his mechanics looked better. When will it change?
Pierce is a prime example of a young player some podcasters and some soft fans wanted benched, cut, or replaced and intrestingly enough after growth and change around him hes now the top guy based on what hes done so far. This is why listening, to podcasters soft self claimed fans, and the media is a prime example of a bad idea and also a prime example of what can happen when you give a guy time and put him and things around him in a postion to not only succeed but excel.. great job AP im hyped for ya.

It took Steichen awhile to get Hurts up to speed. AR wants to be great and has the work ethic to get there. I'm good with sticking with the young guy getting his indoctrination to the NFL. By the 2nd half of this season AR's play will be greatly improved.
Richardson has to avoid the interceptions and turnovers if they are going to beat the Steelers

It looks like AD Mitchell has some work to do to regain Reggie's trust. He's not making plays that he is capable of making to help AR.
Looks like Mitchell is currently No. 5 on the depth chart at the moment. Pittman, Pierce, Dulin and then Downs. Not overly concerned by this.
Going to have to find a QB that can complete more than 50%.

@@JakeSmith-rv1hm the Bears gave this game away with mistakes across the board. Bad play calling on goal line in first half, offside on a punt in second have and missed block by 2 tight ends on strip sack. Colts were given the game. They did not earn it.
I want to see AR go hard, but I loae confidence in him everytime he drops back! Getting thru the season as a fan isnt the problem. We have suffered for a decade almost with these awful QBs and I think a lot of the fanbase is done waiting! His struggles are middle school struggles, not pro struggles! Go Colts!!!
