- The Third Ward is one of Houston’s hottest neighborhoods. Brand-new townhomes and condos are changing the landscape of the historic Black community.

It’s a problem that there’s no investment. It’s a problem when there is investment.
We dont have laws that help us preserve our historical homes. Just the Victorian style ones!
@@laleeah1367 if that’s the problem band together and get it done.
Yes buy up all the land you can then you can decide where you want new building to take place take control over your neighborhood
Not that simple anymore, even if you own the property out right. Now You need to get the blessing/permission from Building department and Community Development to do anything with your property. Guess who works well with those departments, big developers...
This is a great segment
No one in Houston would ever go to third ward voluntarily.
So many of the new condos are ugly. Some of the old ones need work but are not bad.
Glad the neighborhood is trying to preserve the best.
I mean yeah make it look nice but ppl still are poor and will rob you I’m sure
Preserve 3rd ward history? Lmao
what happened to 4th ward freeman town? someone dropped the ball...
The problem was and has always been the need for new construction to give the latest high school and college graduation classes the incentives to remain in the community. The best part about growing up in the Tre was most of the professionals you came in contact with also grew up and remained in the community
And they all moved to the galleria/katy area
What do u mean.?
Nah, they all in Pearland or Mo City
@@covinapee1977 are you referering to the blacks? I thought houston was a diverse city...i hope you not saying what i think you are saying?
@@herculesh1907 Houston is a very diverse city, but a lot of upper to middle class blacks live in the suburbs. A lot of people leave to be in a better environment and better schools. There are still plenty blacks who live within the city limits, but there are more whites and other races that live in 3rd Ward now. That's partly due to the close proximity of Downtown, the University of Houston and the Medical Center where a lot of these people work. You can go down almost every major street in 3rd ward and find a white family on the block. I have seen it a gazillion times.
I see...you meant the city of houston is rapidly gentryfying...its happen all over ..im from brooklyn not to far from Bed sty...not its mostly whites in tgat area...the hood is no longer the hood when whites move in...im ambivalent because the area is significantly improved but blacks cant afford to live there.
They better race to save some money for property taxes.
Keep. Business and politics seperated. Typical democratic trouble makers.
If we has preservation laws like the ones in other community's we wouldn't even be talking about this..... but they can dig up streets and more with out a problem. Laws dont even stop these mf!
Got to get with the times people. But then again, can't move forward, if ALWAYS thinking about the past
Californian bringing their bulls on Texas
Well check out what happened to barrio cottage grove and Barrio west end . Townhome everywhere and Hispanics got moved out
I know plenty of South Americans that live in nice houses and townhomes around the city. Cottage grove and west end residents didn’t keep up with their homes, especially cottage grove. Also, lots of the residents sold their properties and made out to the suburbs.
any bets on how this turns out?
Lmao
Gentrification. All over again
You don’t know a damn thing about third ward. Watch your mouth clown.
@@OfficialJPryde I live on McGowen and Scott. Not a week goes by that I don’t hear random gun shots. Most of the new residents have web burglarized. I walk around the block picking up garbage. Homeless leave their carts everywhere. Watch your big mouth B.
@@emfegmfeg7100 SILENCE WHITE
Its called "keeping up with the times".
@@OfficialJPryde love the assumptions lol
Either way they complain
Move them out get rid of them.
