This is eye-opening for me. It is the reason my mother loved Esterbrook pens: she owned one pen and several nibs, including one for music. Thank you for this information!🙋🏼♀️
I just swapped out my Extra-Fine nib for a Medium nib & now I'm SO HAPPY!!!! You saved me from buying the same pen just for a different nib. Thank so you much for this video!
This explained a few things to me. I had replaced the awful nib that came in my Kaweco Dia2, but my Kaweco Sport did not work like that. Maybe I can find a good nib for that Sport now that I understand the difference in nibs.
I'm so glad this was useful. I usualy don't like to swap nibs. But this is something sometimes I have to do and there are people who do it often, so I thought of doing this video about Kaweco nib systems.
Hi, thank you for the informative video. Could you please clarify if we can put Perkeo’s nib in Sport and vice versa? (Since you mentioned that Perkeo’s nib is a tad longer)
Thanks for this info. Now I know why I can't screw the black collar out of the section of my Frosted Sport. It's GLUED IN for some reason. Unfortunately for me this means I can't swap it into my new TiLiner pen, which only accepts the black-collared screw-in nibs meant for metal sports. Luckily a new one is cheap.
Yes... the difference between the type of nib collar between metal and plastic pens can be really confusing. That is the reason I made this video, to help to solve this kind of questions.
Hi there, thanks for your video. I just bought the Kaweco classic sport. I want to change the nib to a fine one but I’m not sure which one to buy. Could you tell me the name or product code to search? Thank you
You will need something like this: mostwanted-pens.com/en/equipment/nibs/1208/kaweco-classic-front-part-with-nib-black?c=84 For the Classic range the spare nibs come with the section. I hope this helps.
Excellent tutorial, Paulo - I've just acquired two AL Sport models - Matte Black & Anthracite. Is it truly possible to swap out a # 5 nib unit fior a # 6, & if so, does it look disproportionate, my friend ? I only have two other (vintage) Kaweco's - a 3A SM, & an original Dia. Ultimately, what I'd like to do, is place a # 6 unit, gold nib into my matte black model. Please advise. Hoping you continue to remain safe & well, Andrew :)
Hi! Sorry for taking so long to reply to you but I'me receiving lots of comments and it is hard to have time to reply to them all and I like to reply. No, you cannot exchange the #5 for a #6 nib. It will not fit. The width of the nib will not fit the section and if it did it would not fit (length) inside the cap.
No, that's fine, Paulo. Sometimes it takes me an age to respond, so I fully appreciate your dilemma. Thank you for setting me straight - Kaweco Sport novice, here !! Stay well, my friend :D
@@andrewtongue7084 I guess today we value a lot bigger nibs (myself included) but all the tradition of Kaweco is related to small nibs, even on their bigger pens. Because they follow mostly vintage design I don't find it too strange Kaweco uses smaller nibs currently. But yes, I prefer big nibs, such as the #6 in the Supra.
Your rationale is flawless, Paulo, & yes, it makes perfect sense - to keep the (traditional) nib sizes for these more diminutive writing instruments - consistency (as is apparent with all German manufactured scribes) being the key. Thank you for expertise in this brand. Hope you continue to stay safe & well, Andrew :)
Thank you for your detailed video. However, I could not unscrew my nib with collar from my kaweco sport. I was only able to pull the nib and feed out. How do I remove that collar for easier exchange as I have the kaweco sport calligraphy set? It feels pretty stuck.
In the plastic ones it is fixed inside. Maybe glued. You can remove the collar only on the metal Sports, the Sport Luxe and on some Art Sports. The Skyline Sport - the one in the calligraphy sets - has a fixed collar.
Hi. Nice review. My question is, can you change out the nib of Perkeo with Kaweco caligraphy nib ? Perkeo has apparently longer nib and the feed as well.
@Christian...My desire exactly! Alas, it’s not possible. The only other Kaweco, other than the Supra pens, with a nice #6 size nib is the Elite. I have that one. As for the Dia2, I originally had a very good BB steel nib on mine that I later upgraded to Kaweco’s 14K gold nib. Heaven on earth, ever since. 🙂
Christian ..I have bought just two 14k gold Kaweco nibs (both B), for my Elite and Dia2, and while the steel nibs are excellent, I’d say the 14k nibs are noticeably even better, smoother, nicer. They are worth the upgrade. In my opinion, of course.
I don't really know. I guess the Kaweco Sport may fit, but I am not sure, as the length is not the same. I made this video for exchanging nibs within the same model. As exchange a F with a M, for example.
OdE oh, liliput seems too small to include a unit that unscrews. i didn’t think it could come out as a unit. i’ll try to swap my nibs as soon as i’m brave enough lol. thank you so much

This myriad nib swap option is another strong appeal of these already fantastic Kaweco pens.
Kaweco is a great brand. I think it is obvious by now that I am a big fan of the brand.
Thanks so much- I've just swapped nibs without too much anxiety- I'd never have dared do it without guidance

I never tried. But I suppose they will not fit.
I’m looking to replace my kaweco sport brass nib with a flex nib for sketching, what would you suggest?

Does the all plastic section fit the metal versions?
No, they don't. (sorry for the late reply!)
Does the liliput unscrew as well? They’re so tiny, does it fit?
Yes, it does. It has the same nib unit of the Kaweco Sport made of metal or the Art Sport and even of the Dia 2.
Thanks a million for your video It's been a huge help🙂
Could I also put the #6 on a kaweco sport or dia2? Or is the section a different size? I would love a dia2 with a #6 nib

so can i change the nib also on the Kaweco Liliput the same way you change it on the Sports model?
Yes. It has the screw unit like the metal Kaweco Sport pens.
OdE thank you. very helpful
So what type of nib could I use to replace the one on my Perkeo?

so, i can swap my liliput and student nibs right? but i have to pull the nib, not twist on both
Both in Student and Liliput they unscrew, to take aout the complete unit.

Does kaweco nibs rust over time? Or do they last long? I’m planning to collect nibs for my al sport but I’m kinda hesitant due to rust
Interesting video as usual

actually that section on the plastic is not glued inside you can use a small pencil and you can push that whole unit out
Thank you
