It was longer because it takes 6 times longer to lay down six successive layers before our eyes. This is really a feat if you think about it. Its one thing to do it with recordings, but totally another to do it real time...on video. Magnificent John!
Posted six years ago, and he's only gotten better. I am so grateful I happened upon him at Fisherman's Warf here in San Francisco a few weeks ago! The crowd was going wild -- I bought "String and Wood" and "Acoustik Guitar" and have been raving about him on Facebook ever since. Bravo!
Though I lack the knowledge of guitars, everytime I see one of Johns videos I can feel inspiration flowing through my brain that I never felt before. I am learning guitar from now on.. May you live forever John!
Listened to it on headphones and there's a lovely left/right split between each sample that was impossible on the RC20XL. Loved this vid - the sepia, the sound the stillness. Great work.
We all know that these guys should be bigger than most of the artists out there, but it's the reason why they aren't, why I appreciate them even more and tell many people about them. If you saw this on tv it wouldn't be nearly as cool as stumbling across it on the internet. But I do hope these guys get what they have been working so hard for.
it sounds like the hand of god is in his music, very nice!! john, u truly are a master of the guitar, watching your videos, and seeing you play, it clearly shows!
Second time commenting... but gotta say that you're a real huge inspiration... Through all my schoolwork and studies I find time to relax with the guitar. While doing my work I play your music over and over and cannot get enough. I started recently playing a couple months ago and hope to climb up to your level one day! Much love from down south, Zack
This piece of music pushed me into getting an RC-50 and get in touch with my more classical and acoustic side of my playing and I thank you for that Mr John Clarke. :)
Wow!!! I am absolutely floored at how amazing this song is!!! I mean seriously!?! You are looping 7 different guitar parts, and each loop has to be 100% precision when you hit that pedal or it will throw everything off. Thank you so much for this awesome song! :)
Well John Clarke it's official, your music is awesome. I got really relaxed and warm and fuzzy after hearing your music. My cat also started purring like crazy, and relaxed (more then usuall).
Excellent! As always John C. Clarke you are MAGNIFICENT! This video is a terrific example of mixing the NEW of technology with the OLD of the Natural (Acoustic playing). Thanks so much for sharing yourself with us. Happy New Year!
agree, ppl say that are a lot of better guitarist outside, maybe yes, but when you listen the John´s creation you can see a special touch on it, is like a hidden genius inside who want to get outside using the guitar, he really make feel something especial in the people when his playing the guitar. Is more than hard work, there is a hidden genius there.
pure inspiration..Today is Saturday 8:20am I recently downloaded "the most evolved" I will shower eat breakfast and then practice my guitar until my fingers bleeeeeeeeed. I will learn even if it kills me
That was INSANE!!! I have never got a chance to see you perform, but now I wish I had. KJN always told me you had great talent. Doing all of that with that kind of accuracy, and timing...awesome man. I give it up to ya, hands down.
c est vraiment genial ce que tu fais... tu vas monter en fleche,y a trop d emotion dans tes morceaux en tout les cas moi je suis fan... je te felicite pour tout ce que tu fais alma''
Beautiful way of using loop station. Fully classical. And beautiful simple but interesting and smooth composition. I will try to do something like this, right now i don't have enough practice with classic guitar. And thank you for professional explanation - especially about stereo. I'm leaving you video response and 5 stars. Please compose more:)
This song makes me like in the place called "Sahara" and sounds like a mistic music. I love this song. I want to learn it! JOHN CLARKE! U're The BEST SPANISH GUITARIST!
John this is my favorite song of yours. Although it's very hard to chose. Mosaic for Orion is the name of this song to me. ^^ love your work man, vive tu manos wey!
i own a cordoba ffce as well; i use the same technique, and i play the same style that you did in this video. you have an awesome sense of clave, or rhythm and your piece writing is very creative
Absolutely awesome! I am impressed with your skill and loop organization. I hope to make it down to pier 39 (from Sacto) soon to see you preform. I listen to your CD all the time!
Great Job John...but I have come to espect no less from you. I am anxious to hear you new CD next year. As soon as I read that this was in stereo I got out the headphones! Sounds great! Thanks!
Brilliant as this is, I would love to hear this beautiful piece as a straight out guitar rendition without the added embelishments. I believe it would be sensational.
I'm a classical guitarist + composer who also really likes gamelan and I think this is awesome. This could work well for a guitar quartet (like LAGQ) and if I were you I'd considder arranging it for an ensemble. Anyway, keep up the good work.
I found this video 3 days ago. I must've now listened to it about 20 times. A phenomenal act of inspiration, talent, genius and hard work.
It was longer because it takes 6 times longer to lay down six successive layers before our eyes. This is really a feat if you think about it. Its one thing to do it with recordings, but totally another to do it real time...on video. Magnificent John!
Years later and this is still one of my favorite songs. 🎶❤️

Years later and I always return to this song. Such beauty.

I can not express in words the magnificence of this music and the skill of this extraordinary musician
undeniably this song is beautiful and quite honestly flawless.
Listened to it on headphones and there's a lovely left/right split between each sample that was impossible on the RC20XL.

Yes, it does. It is on the pentatonic scale. John says it is inspired by the music of Java and Bali ( both these places have strong Indian influences)

Lovely illustration of the potential for looping using only the fingerstyle guitar.
