    Just a tip: tie fishing line to the filter media so if it drops in you can pull it out. I also use a dropper to get them out.

    Did this method yesterday and it really works! Thank goodness I had a friend help me finish a bottle of wine because there is a bunch of vinegar eels swimming at the top of the bottle right now. Thank you so much for making this video!!

    Great video although I think you failed to emphasize the most important parts.
    Vinegar eels are an aquatic 'worm' that needs to breathe air. If you put them in a fish tank they don't all drop to the bottom but they stay in the water column, their rapid wriggling is irresistible to most fish and they will not die off and pollute the water. Even better, they require no maintenance; once he culture is underway it can just be left to it's own devices for months with no ill-effects.

    So far California blackworms, microworms, banana worms, Walter worms, and now vinegar eels 👀
    White worms are next.
    I’m betting these are all too small for dwarf pea puffers and bumble bee goby (blackworms and white worms excludes).

    On the larger bottles that are all vinegar, do you harvest by pouring the vinegar through a siv?
    Secondly, why doesn't the fresh water and vinegar not eventually mix in the wine bottle method?
    Loved the macro shot.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  7 років тому +4

      Long term it'll mix, but the theory is you're harvesting it each day which is taking the fresh water out, so you need to replace the fresh water daily pretty much.
