Shoigu being shifted could very well be a way to shift him out in a way that still takes care of Shoigu. Shoigu may or may not want to be Minister, but he’s never betrayed Putin and we all know Putin takes care of his friend. It’s a cushy retirement.
As for Belusov, that makes a lot of sense because the Defence minister’s job right now isn’t to handle the battlefield, it’s to optimise Russia into a war economy. More interesting imo is to see where Patrushev ends up.

I'm not sure when everything is stacked in your favour that you can say your 'plan' is the reason you won (more like a lack of a plan).
For example, if one guy with a hand gun gets in a gun fight with a hundred guys carrying assault rifles... but the guys with the assault rifles walk around a corner one after the other getting shot in the head, until he finally runs out of ammo.

Sone of Russia-related parts were self-contradictory and/or ignored the industrial reality.
    1. Going beyond maxing our arms and ammo production at current factories means building new ones or expanding current ones which even in an optimistic case takes 3-5 years (there is a lot of custom-made machinery involved, so throwing money at the problem has its limits - as the West has seen recently with its artillery ammo production, which is far easier to make than tanks, BMPs, jets, etc.) - not something you can do overnight - and there are no signs (or even just announcements) of new ammo/arms factories being built.
    2. It doesn't make sense to claim that after this war Russia would at the same time be going for a mass of basic equipment and "move beyond inherited Soviet weapons" when most of Russian current weapons are Soviet models or based on them - with new designs being stuck in development hell and/or just too expensive (like T-14 Armata).
    3. Customers for Russian weapon exports are rarely interested in basic equipment like artillery of ammunition - damn near everyone makes basic ammo in their country and if you look at the past sales, there have been relatively few buyers fro Russian artillery. Without export numbers that Russia used to generate with mostly aircraft and SAM sales, Russian arms export is practically dead.
    4. Presenting high ammo usage as cure-it-all ignores that it is resulting in burning through enormous number of artillery gun barrels - far beyond the current or near future production rates and that just like with many other items, Russia is compensating for the massive gap between newly produced weapon and they losses mostly by pulling older equipment from inherited storage of ex-USSR weapons, which are not infinite.
    5. It would take Russia a lot longer than 5 years just to rebuild its military to pre-2022 state - and even that state of the Russian military was far inferior to NATO.
    6. As has been said many times, in any war between Russia and NATO, NATO would rely on its massive airpower - immediately shredding Russian railways-based logistics and after achieving air superiority obliterating both frontline (tanks, BMPs, etc.) and rear area (artillery, HQs, etc.) assets - with Russia not having anything to effectively counter NATO stealth aircraft beyond attacks against airbases - which have been pretty ineffective even against a much much much smaller Ukrainian Air Force. Artillery-based warfare just doesn't work if the opponent has air superiority.

I really appreciate the in-depth coverage warographics does on the Ukraine war, though sometimes the terminology Simon uses to describe Russian tactics seems a little slanted. Describing Russian tactics as primitive by massive artillery and air barrages followed by costly attacks, but describing modern tactics with shock troop attack air strikes and infantry rear guard seem like the same thing. It seems as a means discredit Russian gains by describing them as primitive seems to be more like an excuse than a sober understanding of how a large scale interstate war can be. In similar large scale conflicts since the end of WW2 have had large portions of time where attritional tactics were used be forces that were on similar levels of strength. Examples of this would be the Korean War, the Vietnam war, and the Iran-Iraq war. It’s more common when one or both sides have outside support to keep them in the fight when they would have already lost via attrition. This is not to say these videos are biased, they are probably the most sober assessments of the war I have seen. It gets more to the fact that those in the west seem to have forgotten or refused to understand that not every conflict can be won in a quick and decisive manner. Especially when you have opponents like Russia and China who can call up significant manufacturing and resources to their wars. We can see this with western countries struggling to produce more basic ammunition and equipment. While also relying on high tech but expensive and difficult to manufacture weapons. If we do not understand how costly wars can be than we risk going into a war with delusional expectations and suffering horrible losses as a result. Such as when Russia invaded Ukraine expecting to win in three days. War is an incredibly costly affair and thinking otherwise is foolish and can lead to disaster.
