It wasn't radar but it was older microwave transmission technology for long distance calls, big in it's day. That flat concrete base was an equipment room. Hanover CS was an earth station with two large parabolic satellite downlink antennas, and was built about ½ mile to the south of the Hanover R station, down in a ravine.
The steep walls of the ravine provided a natural barrier to interfering signals from other 4 GHz microwave stations in the general area. A 22-tube L-type coaxial cable brought the IF inputs and outputs from the 11 GHz equipment at the Hanover R tower to the earth station's receivers and transmitters through a 100A switch.
The link was brought on line around 1974, and retired in 1986. The earth station and the 11 GHz link tower at Hanover R were dismantled around 1994.
I enjoy your explorations, nice work.

Thanks. Nice to hear from one who Hemingway wouldn't have described as a "mere tourist."

I hate that no matter how far out in the middle of nowhere something is there will be an idiot with a spray can that finds it!

@@johnwoodard1726 probably when they figured out how to make the concrete stronger.

One of those bunkers maybe, could be a cool place to record an album. Acoustics might be epic airy cadence going on. 🎼🧐

I'd guess the circular structure was a bus stop type structure. People could wait there for their transportation. Nothing mysterious about the site. The two buildings left were the bases for the dishs and likely too tough to easily tear down, at least without a liberal use of explosives. Make good tornado shelters.

There was one of these sites that was owned by GTE in Homosassa Florida. It is now an RV Resort.

Man, after my own heart, you like to explore and see things wi1h your own eyes. I watched this video normally then I played it again to see if I missed anything, at the 8:45 frame next to where the parking lot was in the middle of the frame looks like white rabbit with a body of a cow or Buffalo and it's green looking, at frame 10:12 it sounds like women singing in a 40's style, no one seems to notice, it might be a ring tone but yea, I normally don't catch things like that but this video is not what you normally do. It might be nothing. Enjoy your exploring.

it's not a sewer drain, it's a cattle gate, their hooves get inbetween the bars and they get stuck, oftentimes injred, they back filed it in for liability purposes, would be my guess.

A duplicate old AT&T Earth Station facility still exists in Woodbury Georgia
and is open for tourists. It has been used for research after it was used as
a satellite microwave uplink/downlink relay station. That facility I visited
for its grand opening public tour when it first went into operation. Now
the old Earth Station is called the Woodbury Research Facility. Many of
the old hilltop sites for the overland network of microwave horn relay
towers may still exist, but likely all of the old sites have been scrapped
decades ago. In their era they were cutting edge technology and did
work very well. One of my family was an AT&T engineer, another NASA,
another Lockheed, another at Savannah River Nuclear power station.

Well I don't doubt that some well I don't doubt that some of those joints that aren't parks are actually preserved to a degree probably with black budget money just in case.

Yeah I like how the government always explains a lot of these installations as backups...
It's almost as if they build half of these to make not only themselves feel better but perhaps to make us feel better.
Simply because in a full-fledged nuclear events such as what they were supposedly preparing for the amount of emps that would have been going off none of these joints would have been useful.
