Plus Annie wouldn't write with run-on sentences or make DMB references. Also someone calls the office as the ass-crack bandit when Annie is there listening so she'd at least have to be working with someone else
Annie studied criminology she would know how criminals write. Regarding the phone call, it was a recording. Annie would do it just so she could go run around with Jeff. But good theory nonetheless.

You can actually see the hood of Annie's jacket is up in the reflection of the puddle when Garrett's crack gets taken by the ass crack bandit. I never noticed it until today, but if you watch the ending scene of her and Jeff walking out of the school into the rain, she's wearing the same style of jacket with the hood up, and it appears to be the same jacket that you see in the puddle's reflection earlier in the episode.
I like the theory, that she does that to spend more time with Jeff (and that's probably true), but I still belive that it was basically everyone, all of them cracked someone at least once. I belive that this means she was bandit only in the episode, but not prior to that. When watching the episode I thought that the most logical explanation is that bandit is/was multiple people, but for some reason nobody ever brings that up. Why? Because they know it's multiple people, but no one wants to admit they did it too. Basically, somebody at one point cracked a person and others thought it was funny and did it too. It's a school after all, stuff like that would totally spread around and there's no way it would be done only by one person. But just like every trend it dies out ane people stop. Then years later Annie brings it back to spend to more time with Jeff, but it gets popular again and starts to spread and at the end of the episode someone else other than Annie cracks Duncan. Who? Doesn't matter.
There are many good theories out there. And most of them are based on sound logic. BUT if the creator of the show and head writer says it's Annie... I'm inclined to believe him. HOWEVER someone on here made a very excellent point... since it was never "officially" stated in the show whom the ACB truly is anyone who purchases the rights to the show can choose the official Canon. Let's all pitch in and buy the rights. Then we can all decide!
My theory is Troy did it first, but it became a thing, then it was Duncan trying to cash in on the mystery, maybe Abed at some point to keep the tension high, and finally Annie to keep going on with Jeff. Maybe Britta for one of them and she ruined it by throwing suspicion off someone they would've had.

It's the Bennett boys. Them singing at the beginning is a misdirect. Shirley is in the sandwich shop when Garrett runs into the cafeteria, so it's not happening at the same time as their performance.
It was a double team of Jeff and Annie. Both didn't know the other was involved as well. They did it to spend time together. Sometimes Annie was the bandit and sometimes Jeff but both were oblivious to each other's involvement.
I always thought it was probably Abed, or maybe a combination of both Abed and Troy but perhaps there may have even been four ass crack bandits active around the same time, probably two acting at the one time but I think the groups may have known about the other person with them that was helping but they didn't know about a second group helping too, so it could've been [ Troy and Abed] and also [ Annie and Jeff ]
@@CaptainStraw I doubt it lines up like that, given that Duncan was cracked just seconds before the announcement, he must've been dead for hours already. Additonally, he was banned from campus after the last semester and he's not the most sneaky guy, especially at 6'4", so I doubt he could go around campus undetected up until that point.

While Harmon did say it was Annie and he’d probably know given that it’s his show, that just really bugs me. Entirely because of the scene where Annie finds out Duncan is a fan of Dave. She acts visibly shaken by this and freaks out a bit, trying to escape the situation. If she was the bandit, she would have no reason to do this, as she’d know Duncan definitely didn’t do it. He and she were the only two in the room, and Duncan would have no reason to be suspicious of her over him calling the guy “Dave”. TL;DR-Despite the creator’s statement to the contrary, Annie couldn’t have been the ACB because of her odd behaviour in the scene with Duncan. Although in actuality, the scene was probably just a small plothole

My theory is that it was Jeff and Annie so they'd have an excuse to spend time together by investigating, as the Dean said. The conversation they had at the end was very clearly about them and not the ACB, the "case" they were working on was "Will we ever get together?" I think when Jeff said "I think he'll be back" and Annie said "Or she" and then they shared a look, they were talking about themselves, because the ACB is just one iteration of this game they play
Although they planned to maybe have Annie be the ACB, I think it's most likely Abed and that's the most commonly accepted theory amongst fans as it does make the most sense

It was a double team of Jeff and Annie. Both didn't know the other was involved as well. They did it to spend time together. Sometimes Annie was the bandit and sometimes Jeff but both were oblivious to each other's involvement.
I always thought it was probably Abed, or maybe a combination of both Abed and Troy but perhaps there may have even been four ass crack bandits active around the same time, probably two acting at the one time but I think the groups may have known about the other person with them that was helping but they didn't know about a second group helping too, so it could've been [ Troy and Abed] and also [ Annie and Jeff ]

Additonally, he was banned from campus after the last semester and he's not the most sneaky guy, especially at 6'4", so I doubt he could go around campus undetected up until that point.

While Harmon did say it was Annie and he’d probably know given that it’s his show, that just really bugs me. Entirely because of the scene where Annie finds out Duncan is a fan of Dave. She acts visibly shaken by this and freaks out a bit, trying to escape the situation. If she was the bandit, she would have no reason to do this, as she’d know Duncan definitely didn’t do it. He and she were the only two in the room, and Duncan would have no reason to be suspicious of her over him calling the guy “Dave”.
TL;DR-Despite the creator’s statement to the contrary, Annie couldn’t have been the ACB because of her odd behaviour in the scene with Duncan. Although in actuality, the scene was probably just a small plothole
This is very logical. I can only surmise that she wanted to maintain the illusion. If Duncan thought she was scared then he wouldn't suspect her. Someone here made a really good point, semi recently. If I was a millionaire I could buy the rights and since it was never established on the show who the ACB actually is; I could make it whomever I chose.

I feel like he just said that in the moment because Alison rolled out of screen so it was more a joke than a confirmation.
My theory is that it was Jeff and Annie so they'd have an excuse to spend time together by investigating, as the Dean said. The conversation they had at the end was very clearly about them and not the ACB, the "case" they were working on was "Will we ever get together?" I think when Jeff said "I think he'll be back" and Annie said "Or she" and then they shared a look, they were talking about themselves, because the ACB is just one iteration of this game they play

Thinking about it is how I determined it was Annie in the first place. Series finale gave us the biggest clue.
Although they planned to maybe have Annie be the ACB, I think it's most likely Abed and that's the most commonly accepted theory amongst fans as it does make the most sense
