Definitely hasn’t been the rule for ‘years’ as Andy claims. Can distinctively remember a SBSD on FB Pope with Bateson where Andy successfully guessed Batesons Eusebio, then he put Lampard in the next round (and Andy even guessed Gerrard). Bateson even asked in that episode if he could attempt to bring another icon into his squad, and Andy said ‘Yes.’
I think I mentioned this and edited it out because I was waffling so much
It was the rule but I let Bateson off because he didn’t know

@@AJ3 Perhaps then u just didn’t explain it clearly enough to us when u did change the rule, and that’s why everyone thought u were scamming James.
Maybe in the future if u guess ur opponents icon/hero, u give them an icon/hero GK so they at least get the links they would’ve had anyway. Coz often people use icons/heroes in SBSD to link their team together, and so removing it makes it impossible to build the rest of the team without it being incredibly obvious.

Andy last year u first tried putting icon beckham in rw but he was guessed and you later put him in cm with his other card.
The RM was a Flashback or some special card. In that Beckham was a REAL MADRID player. The CM was the actual icon :D
His rm literally wasn’t an icon though lmao

So go watch the sbsd with bateson on fut birthday pope in fifa 20, he guessed Eusebio, he then asks "can I put another icon seen as you guessed Eusebio" Andy then says "we've had this discussion before but annoyingly yeah, you can" he literally says it stone cold, and then acts like he hasn't checked the rule🤣

Andy it has definitely never been a rule that you if guessed an icon you can’t put another one in. I know for a fact you’ve done it dozens of times and I’m sure SBSDD could tell you when.

I agree with the rule that if it is guessed you can’t put another one in, but the idea that you have always enforced it for yourself and for your opponents is not true. There have been instances in the past where both you and your opponents have not followed it.
On the using multiple icons, remember when you guessed Tekkz icon twice in a row as he tried to use them at cam then at cm that was a classic
I remember the time when tekkz had Martin Odegaard guessed three times in a row

I can't remember which SBSD it was either, but I remember his icon Beckham got guessed and then he used the Real Madrid Beckham. Not sure if that's different. I still think you're not able to use an icon after one has been guessed.

I think what is being missed is that usually the icon would be replaced with an Icon Goalie (Cech, Van Der Sar etc.). Since it was an icon goalie replacing the guessed icon, it was obvious that another icon isn't allowed. In the James video, the replacement was a regular player which led to the problem
I've watched every single Squad Builder Showdown and u haven't adressed that if icons (or the new hero cards) are guessed u simply can't put in another and you could simply just put in another icons for years.
But that being said, I do agree with you. If you somehow outsmart the other person and guess their icon/hero you should be rewarded for that, therefore the other person losses their icon/hero spot due to it being guessed
i mean, i have too, and in the more recent ones (i think at least FIFA20) the rule came up. but before then, or when he forgets yeah you're right
Could be wrong of course, but I do feel like in years past when someone guessed the icon their opponent still was able to put in an icon again, think it happened a few times

@@AJ3 I think because it’s been so long since something like that happened it caught a lot of people off guard, even James (I’m pretty sure he was the guest when it happened) was confused so I get that, but it definitely doesn’t make sense to be able to try and get an icon again if it was guessed in a different round lol
I reckon you could get a advent calendar with different players inside and try and get them in the squad to provide a bit of a coool twist

For the advent calendar do a uncut SBSD video for Christmas Day (obviously pre recorded). But for the background, do Christmas lights and tinsel’s around the frame
for the icon thing, i can look for at least 10 videos in the history of SBSD in where choosing another icon after being guessed before happened

I seem to remember last year there was a phase where you'd give people icon goalies so they couldn't put an icon in later, so im sure this wasn't the rule at least in the last few fifas haha

The formation is very good if your opponent hoardes possession. I used it alot in 20 and 21. But you need super high depth and ideally constant pressure.
You should somehow manage to get a board with the guests faces on that you can either cross off or update with the scores from the games. So you have a physical version of an advent calander
