It is so interesting to hear you talk about gaming with your son. I binged the Chasers Episodes thoughout the last couple of weeks again... and there is this moment, where you argue with Jay about a kid taking your games... and him saying... "No, you got a buddy to play with." Im very happy for you, that being a father makes you happy.
One of the uncommon examples of a wholesome "I told you so"
I like the ones that require a fire extinguisher, but this is good, too.
Being able to share this with your son is the greatest achievement a collector can have. Happy for you!
So much nostalgia. I like the approach of collecting only what you want. I think it was a good move to keep your office clutter free
Everytime I watch your videos I go back to my childhood. Playing the NES and Genesis with my younger brother. Now I am collecting my childhood games I owned or rented back then. It's wonderful to see you and your son bonding over the love of video games. It's the pleasure and sense of happiness to play with the ones you love. Times I haven't forgotten to this day. Keep up the great work Billy!
I had to choke back the tears when you got to the part about your son... I started collecting back in 2007-ish with my bro, and a few years back i came to the same realization, the collection wasn't just for me alone anymore... My son and I sit in our basement gameroom together about every evening playing games.
I love these game room tours. Jay should do one now.
Beautiful hardcover of Heir to the Empire and the Thrawn trilogy there :)
Two things: 1. A cat + my game room terrifies me (spraying etc), you’re a brave soul! 2. I’ve been watching you guys forever and showed a portion of this to my wife, since I can’t wait to do the same with my kids… Happy for you man, super awesome to see you build those memories - let him experience the same adventures that will stick with him forever
Billy, at 19:47 there's a shot of your son pulling a game off the wall. To his right, a copy of Mystery Quest. I have had that game stuck in my head for the last 30 years as I played it at a neighbor's house as a kid but couldn't remember just what it was called. This stood out and clicked immediately. Same game. Thanks for triggering the nostalgia!
Wow, we had the EXACT same little Magnavox TV at our cabin when I was a kid. You pull out the top knob to turn it on, and the bottom button does nothing discernable lol.
This was such a great heartfelt video Billy! Collecting has sort of turned into this weird race to see who has the most money and best stuff. This really reminded me why I started in the first place and why I will continue to in the future. Thank you for all the videos over the years! Can't wait to see what's next.
I wish you guys were still doing the game chasers, I miss those episodes. I really want your vectrex
Game room looks amazing looks like an old 80s style basement
Always nice to see another collector showing some love for the Go-bots. Those glass cases showcase toys beautifully.
After all these years, so awesome to see your film collection, esp. your Blurays/4Ks!
Very nice setup! LOVE the floor model TV!
The ending especially was really heartwarming. Thank you for this, Billy.
If you want to keep the figures in the case from falling over, you could try to stick them down with something. Probably not actual glue or anything, but depending on how heavy they are a little piece of double-sided tape might even do the job. Love the game room!
Feeling down lately and I used videos from you to cope. It’s a great thing to see you get personal and see growth from you. I love this channel so much. :,)
@@TheGameChasers I had a terrible flu about 10 years ago worse then covid and I think you guys were either ending ur first season or second and I remember being sick at home watching and it really took my mind off things and brought back that nostalgia so thank you.
led strips in the corners of those curio cabinets works great. you can get battery powered ones to reduce cords.
15:02, I don't have the Skystriker, but I think I have the other toy shown on the top shelf in my office too! Cool video, thanks for the tour! A trip down memory lane.
I love the Gremlins display unit. I only have a few and those are dotted around.
I used to have couple unit like that, the IKEA Detolf ones, and I'd always come in the room to find one or two figures fallen over.
I started using Blu Tack Glue Dots, invisible and not damaging but held them up ok.
Sadly I had to get rid of them units though as just not enough space.
Would love a glass unit full of Gremlins though, looks awesome
I highly recommend this. I came across tack at a gsale and had the same thought. It's perfect for figures with raised heels like the original Turtles. A blob of tack fills the gap and it's mostly unnoticeable. I like to figure out something that allows hanging of figures / plush such as a glider or ship. I'd like something that is removeable and without screws, but remains fixed when necessary. All my rigs fall down. Maybe my items are too heavy.
@@WhatsOnMyShelf yes I don't actually know of a good means, but small Neodymium Magnetic Hooks/Buttons, and small length of Fishing Wire or Magician's String, come to mind...
Would need to secure the ceiling side hook.
Could then have the ship/figure directly stuck to another hook and link the hooks, or have the fishing/magician wire between which would create distance and be almost invisible.
The ship/figure hook button could be stuck on with some Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape, [which is strong, I've used in my arcade to fix a small speaker bar to the ceiling of cabinet].
That would allow you then easily take them down from ceiling if want to show to someone or whatever by just lifting the hook [from either other hook, or fishing string loop].
Downside, that Gorilla tape at the ship/figure side. Would need to be hard plastic I guess that the residue could be easily wiped off in future, wouldn't imagine something like plush/canvas material would be good.
Figures, probably wouldn't bother with hook that end, just the fishing wire tied in a look around them.
Might be a pretty lame idea, just what came to mind so offering as food for thought.
Those magnet hooks are strong and Amazon sell bundles at fair prices
@@mumfnah I've tried tape and string before, but not gorilla tape. The tape usually peeled, causing the string to slide and the figure to fall. I never thought of using gorilla tape or duct tape. I used a moderate shipping / packing tape. I was in the hardware store the other day and saw clear gorilla tape, which would be very inconspicuous. Anyways, thanks for the ideas. I've got something to look into to fix the problem.
To be surrounded by what you love, is all apart of life's joy.
Its nice to see the items in your collection that were aquired during GC/TC episodes. Its a trip down "chasin" memory lane.
Great collection! I had many of these game systems and games and wish i had them now......just for the sake of remembering my parents and how much they loved me by spoiling me. Being a parent now, I can appreciate their sacrafice they did for me to have my games.
It's surprising how few 80s/90s collections that make it to YT feature both video games and action figures.
It brings me joy to see your son sharing in your passion for games. I look forward to having this connection with my kids when they get older!
6:34 look out for cassette shelving, perhaps?
I have 3 wooden shelves, I picked up from a charity shop. Were made for cassette storage by someone, but they hold my loose 2600 carts pretty much perfectly. Depth is a little shy, like a cm only, but just makes easier for picking games out 👍
poster tac on the bottom of the figures' feet will help keep them upright!
It's cool to see that old console television. I went to the National Videogame Museum with my brother several years ago. They had an Intellivision connected to a television like that and we played Burgertime on it. It was in a little corner that had an 80s themed living room.
You might look into restoring warped or dented boxes. There are some safe simple ways to straighten them and make them look almost new. I recommend the techniques in RMC's video Repairing Crushed Big Box Games. Smaller boxes can be opened and folded flat for steam and ironing like Nintendrew's video shows.
Wow, what a spectacular game room you have! That is awesome that you make memories with your son like that. They'll last you forever! Cherish them!!!! I personally do the same thing, but with my friends in my Nerd Cave.
Nice, love these game room tours
It's beyond anything I've ever dreamed of and I can tell behind the scenes y'all put some serious work into this spectacle. Can't imagine ever having that many cool things although there is still a chance for me I'm a little bit younger and tend to like the 3d era more than the early stuff although we did have an NES during the snes era.
Great video Billy!!! I'm starting to downsize my collection. It's just that time in life. I'll hang onto the games that bring the joy out of me but the rest needs to find a new home. Time does go fast you'll never catch up to it. It's been great to see everyone in this community grow over the years. I'm glad you're in a good place in life. God bless you and your family.
Glad to see some Odyssey2 games. I still got my original console in the box (no longer working. Long story). It was my first console and I still love playing the games. Also loved how the packaging was conducive to keeping the games CIB. No reason for there to be loose Odyssey2 carts.
What a well done video!! I loved the end the most! It made me realize that I really need to interact with my collection a little more and really try and get some of them vintage games in my daughters hands! We game modern, but I have all these old games for a reason, let’s plug some back in, and get playing! The collection room and areas look great by the way!
Seeing that Mcdonalds display for Super Mario Bros 3 brought back some memories.
Sometimes it is not about you, it is about your next thing: your son and his school friends introduced to a whole new world of videogames, and you look back to: yes, that's how I felt back then too! Also where is the switch games section??? I missed those in your video, but I like to watch these type of videos, it gets me inpired to do also a collection of my own. :D Thanks Billy for all these years of game chasin videos! Greetings from Belgium!
I love this video Billy. My son is 5 and I've been experiencing the same thing with him. This is now our game room. It makes all of life's struggles worth it. Getting to watch my children experience old-school games and enjoy them.
It may have been blurred, but I saw a special little guys smile perfectly and it warmed my heart ❤
Billy ive mentioned it before but we had those lamps growing up. My mom still has them, so you gave me the idea to bring them into my room... God the memories that lamp is only indirectly apart of.🤘
Amazing collection man. So much nostalgia here. Having that experience with your son as well; knowing he has access to all these amazing games you played as a kid. I do the same with my 2 boys and daughter now. The connection you get out of those experiences, you will treasure for the rest of your life. Awesome stuff man! 😎🎮🔥💪
Years from now, your son will start a channel called My Retro Life* and reminisce about all the game chasing adventures he had with his amazing Dad. Never change Billy, you are a good man. 👍🏻🥲
The bit with your kid at the end: priceless ❤️
Awesome collection. As for your gremlins falling over, try a little blue tac underneath (worked for my figures after failing with the glue gun)
Billy flexing with the ATARI Halloween just sitting on the shelf
The game room looks like a nice organized and comfortable setup, cool that you still have the Atari ST set up in its own space. And even better you can now enjoy the games with your son. Enjoy the time they grow up so quickly, we have three adults now, and one is only a year and a bit off, so weirdly moving into the next phase. Hopefully there is room on those NES shelves for one more, as my game (after all this time) is almost done!
Great video! There's nothing better than being able to share these classic games with our kids!!
Really love the way you have your collection setup. Still hope to run into a store display case at some point in the future.
Amazing video focusing on the positive aspects of our hobby from a true gamer. Love the laid back approach and insight into all the amazing games, toys and your current focus on the collection. Keep up the love for retro and a great job passing it on to your son as well Billy!
There really was something special about being a kid and discovering video games in the 80's and 90's.
You barely had any, maybe 2 a year. Most were rented from the video store, often just based on box shots and a cool name.
They were almost mysterious in a sense in that you only went by word of mouth or magazine ads to find out about new ones or cool ones before the internet.
Ok, that last bit talking about Billy's Son, first of all, awww!
And second, Billy has a Kid, Jay has a Kid, Alpha has a Kid, even up in Canadia, Johnny has a Kid
... anybody else wanna see the Spinoff: GameChasers The Next Generation! [In Star Trek Font!] Lol
Great tour- I’ve lost touch with all the game collecting over the years but you’ve rekindled it with this
Nice to see your collection! I recently started to re-watch all the game chaser episodes. Would be cool to see and hear about your film collection someday! 👌
Really nice setup man. Glad to see how your collection has grown. I don't have as much restarting my collection again these past few years but I also stopped being a completionist. I now collect what I like to play unless I find a deal on something retro. I have a downstairs living area that me and my kids are fixing up. Hopefully it'll grow as good as yours before long. Totalbadassery all around those on your game room. 😎🤘
we dont have flea markets where im from. nice to live vicariously through your collection! Love the set of destructor bots and the happy meal boxes.
Dude.. this video hit me right in the feels. Thank you
Your son playing Super Mario reminds me of myself when I learned to play it as a child back in 1990. My Grandmother owned an NES, and that game always reminds me of my Grandmother.
What amazing game/toy room with so much nostalgia! Brings me back to my own memories of the games and toys I had enjoyed!
Really nice tied together there in the end. Very moving. Thanks for sharing!
I wish my game room could be as cool as this. I have all the makings (CRTs, every console, 2 real arcade machines, games galore, a modest VHS collection with store display racks that make for a neat video store look, and many oddities that fit the style like a thank-you for shopping at blockbuster sign and chuck e cheese triangle table advertising thing), but unfortunately my once glorious game room has become more a storage area full of shipping materials, luggage, presents, and all sorts of other things.
Collecting games is also socializing, going out meeting random people and sellers, meeting likeminded people at conventions and sharing knowledge about the hobby.
Awesome collection Billy! Even your game room is super cool and down to earth. Very impressive, but down to earth. I love the laid-back 80s era look rather than crystal cases and fiber optic lights everywhere. It's a nice homie vibe you've got there. lol I love your Mario 3 shrine too man. I had a Gameboy advanced cartridge with the touched up graphics version of Mario 3 when I was a kid. One of my favorite Mario games, God I used to sit at home and in the car playing that game for hours. I had the advanced SP with the back light too so I could even play it on night drives in the back seat. Nice Micky D's boxes. 😆 The shrine's all the further I made it in yet but I look forward to the rest of this video. And I hope that if anything drastic changes in the future you'll reconsider showing us this collection again, I'd love to see any additions you add. Glad you've got it to where you wanted it though, looks great man. Thanks for sharing.
I loved the VHS/laserdisc corner you had in your game room but yeah it was taking up a lot of precious space. At least the Star Trek video rental display is still there!
Ive seen so many of us youtubers from the old days going down this line of collecting. Weve all been there and gone for the 'complete collection' or 'got to grab it all' phase. Its now time to slim it down. Sell what you are never going to use. - Id much rather have a handful of decent stuff, then a room full of stuff that is "cool" but means nothing! - Good video, and 100% agree with the sharing thing. My "games room" is basically my sons 2nd bedroom these days. Hes in there much more than I ever am!
All that gaming goodness makes me wanna go over and play at Billy‘s house 😆
10:34 I actually have a wood grain TV for my Arati 2600, it's not a console TV, but it fits the look really well (matches near perfectly with my Atari).
Billy, I am really digging your collection. If you ever swing by Miami, FL, I have a collection of video games as well that you can rummage through, which includes a factory sealed Virtuoso for the 3DO, a loose but minty Jetsons for the NES, Mighty Final Fight for the NES, Battletoads Double Dragon for the NES, and other uncommon titles on various systems. Hit me up if you're down :p. PS: Wheres my blueray of the Game Chasers movie? I was a $75 backer dammit LOL!
Love the Room great Inspirations for getting my retro room together thank you.
I hope to one day have a game room like this it's amazing seeing ur stuff u got alot of kool stuff me and my kid play nes and snes here and there
Great Video! I like the balance between completionism mentality and only games you like mentality.
Awesome collection Man! cooll seeing some pieces ive seen on the game chasers episodes
Wish I could like this more than once.
Relating to this in many ways, from spending many days looking for games for me, to now enjoying them with my son too, all while collecting tidbits of games and toys along the way.
Still the best channel on UA-cam.
That's a great tour Billy. Thank you. The last few mintues with your son pulled some heartstrings.
Wow this was really well made thank you billy! now seeing you and your son play together will definitely make all the sacrifices and struggles worth it when your together so I'm happy for you. keep up the good work :)
Love the tour sir also can definitely relate my daughter is now 7 and loves to play all the classics one of our favorite levels is mine cart carnage on what she calls “Konkey Kong” she always ask me how I beat it and I tell her it’s because I started playing it when I was her age. Thank you Billy for the memories and just being you.
Lol that cat throw up was killing me🤣
Amazing rooms! And collections!
Brilliant video! Amazing how far the game room has come.
Thank you for making this video, it made me realize that I don’t need to collect for everything. The things that give me more joy, are the games and toys I had in my childhood. 😊
I still remember when I started watching you guys back in the beginning, and to see where the show and you guys as people are now so many years later is so awesome. Like the immortal moment when you and Jay were arguing about having kids and Jay told you that you’d have a buddy to play with, and now to see that reality being lived out is so cool. That’s what it’s all about man, that puts a huge smile on my face.
And maaaaaan y’alls kids are lucky that they have access to SO MANY games and systems. I’m genuinely jealous of the kind of childhood they’ll get to have through these games ✌🏻
Nice! I have that same Vinegar Syndrome release of Cloak & Dagger.
I love the Midnite Movies line! Definitely do a video on your movie collection, especially the MM label. Collection looks great!
Loved the ending about it being your son's stuff as well. Super cool dad, Billy. Keep it up!
Daaaang I remember a clip when you took your newborn son to Toys R Us. Playing games already, wow. My daughter just turned 6 and is suddenly really into Mario games, especially Mario Kart lol. Her first cinema experience was the Mario movie. Good times.
I loved it, thank you for sharing how your son loves gaming now. That hit home for me. Wonderful video.
I recognize a lot of this stuff from the show lol. great room tour... but also very cool game room. that plastic holder with your gameboy games is perfect. makes it look super clean.
@@TheGameChasers of course man! you guys inspired me to start collecting. I will continue to always support the channel in whatever way I can
Amazing video, it's really touch my heart as a father and as a gamer, really great job as always Billy!
Nice toy display in the curio cases! Just one thing though - your Transformers shelf: You've displayed Skywarp like a conehead seeker and Thrust like a normal one. They should be the other way around (and it's triggering a little OCD voice in my brain...)
Your son's "i got Bowsa!" made me smile :D thank you Billy, love you man!
That’s a kick ass room! I love the mixture of games and toys!
Great video! Room looking ace. Will be sick to find another Little Samson on the flea markets LET’S GOOOO GAME CHASERS!
Lol, that cat vomit shot! 😂
Imagine having a dad with a game store in the house to roam around and play.
I'm pretty much getting there, my son is almost 3 and I was sitting in my game room the other day and was wondering will he be interested in that stuff I have accumulated over the years. It's great that yours is into it, I'm sure it very special moments to watch him enjoy these :) great video thanks for making it!!!
1:54 wrath of the black man
Great video Billy. Working on getting a home this year and also getting married. Fiancee keeps trying to sell it to me that when we try for a kid after this I can get them into my retro stuff like you and your son. Early on when I tried to do a little collecting I just go for what I really like and never been going for a full collection of anything.
I can remember a game chasers episode where Billy and Jay where arguing about having kids and Jay saying that Billy would have someone to play games with and Billy's response was that he'd have someone to fight over games with. How times change.
Dawm... i just wrote the exact same thing. :)
I was thinking the same thing.
Hey, Jay called it
Yeah, I remember that one too lol
To be fair we do fight over them
