How are trees big?

- A few months ago I was looking at the trees in my backyard and marveling at their size. Then it suddenly dawned on me. Where does all the stuff that makes a tree come from? I was surprised at what I didn’t really understand until that day.
If you want to know more about these characters Pebble and Wren you can see their origin story here: • Pebble and Wren
And you can get the book I wrote about them here: hallbeck.com/links/
I thought he was going to say "the tree is eating me" at the end
same haha
I thought he would say “I am feeding the trees”
@@ionic7777 SAME!! 😮😂
Same lol
I thought he was going to say, "Does that mean... *I'm* a tree?!" 😁
If you think about it this could be considered educational
Shh, don't tell people they might learn something.
@@candycemonroe7345 oh ok
Because it is
I would like to know how little one would have to think for this to not be educational
@@9nikolai I don't know lol
Basically had this conversation with my little cousin when she was eight.
She went out and started huffing at our grandma's peach tree.
Did she get too much Oxygen though?
@@user-uu5cc7rm5g well you huff and puff long enough and you pass out
Lmao, that’s adorable
"The tree is made of me"
That's the cycle of life...
Best quote ever. ❤
Emergency Cookie
when you need it, whether physically or emotionally, you're always glad it's there. 😊
That's the actual educational part there x)
Nice to see a new update on Pebble and Wren!
If they only made it that simple back in my school days............. Love the skits.
This needs to be shown in every preschool classroom♡
I should make note of that emergency cookie, life changer
Pebble and Wren is the only book i will read
But Pebble and Wren read many books! (and Pebble eats them too).
Quite educational! What did we learn?
Emergency cookies are crucial!
Awesome informative comic that doesn't seem too boring to watch. Great job! ❤
So Pebble and Wren Volume 2 soon?
Nice!! 🎉
❤ Beautiful ❤
I love that the answer to the question at the end is: yes, somewhat.
😂 what a wonderful explanation!!
😂😂😂 such an eye opener😮
I could see this being show by the cool science teacher at school

As Juanita Jefferson says in welcome to Nightvale:
“Treees! They are us!”
Now that's awesome and informative at the same time. 😮😮😮😮
Looks like someone's been listening to some Richard Feynman lectures. I approve.
I love Pebble and Wren. Your book is delightful. Oh, how I wish I had a monster like Pebble!😂😂😂❤❤❤ For other admirers of Chris, check out his books. You will be glad you did!
I love how educational u made this!
We need more Pebble and Wren!
Ohhh, that was a great one! Thank you!
👍
I once wondered why there is such a thing as soil on the ground, where did it come from? I found the answer in a conversation like this.
Tree big grow yummy -me
Making learning adorable!
What a wholesome video. 🙂 Please do more!
That was so sweet!
Thank you 😊
I love the ending, such an awesome little monster ❤
Lol awesome
I am sure this was inspired by a real conversation you had
1:30 Jump scare I love:
This would make for some super cool edutainment
and the trees were inside us all along
make of that what you will
this is the closest we will get to a pebble and wren 2
Trees are eating our breaths. I never thought of that. Mind. Blown 😮
Yeah, pretty impressive. Just think that the tallest pine or oak that you saw has been made using only water, air and light (and few minerals in the soil)
Whelp, I’m showing this next fall to my bio students when we get to cellular respiration. Super adorable!
The epilogue! 😂
Never fail to amuse me ❤
I just can't say it enough, you're a fantastic comic writer and sketch artist. Do you plan to make cartoons for TV in the future?
Thank you. I don’t really have TV aspirations. I can reach plenty of people on the internet 👍
FINALLY ... humour that won't offend anyone :-D
I mean, it's technically correct; which is the best type of correct.😂
Yes, the trees ARE us!
Trees _are_ monsters.
Aww they have hair now
Scientificaly true ...
I came here for laugh, not education!
Yet I got both
Nice take❤
interesting style!
Fun fact: trees also need oxygen. At night, when photosynthesis is not possible (as it requires light), the trees still take the oxygen from the air, but do not release any.
And that kids is the food chain. This should be expanded to explain the role of other animals and how humans are destroying the ecological balance. Go @ChrisHallbeck!!!
That was very cute
Ah yes frisk and that monster that hates to not be alone i forgot its name
0:43 when you do that you will also feel a metal thing destroying your hand
It's the ciiiiiiircle of life...
Hehe little dudes mind will be blown when he learns where all those atoms came from originally
I loved the book
Thank you 👍
Then the tree uses the carbon to make sugar, which is stored and used to produce energy for the tree
A very similar question which puzzled me when I was younger: Why don't farm fields become pits over time since you remove everytime a lot of material from the field when harvesting?
Very much yes
I like this
I want more
There is a tiny error: trees do not break CO2, but water. The oxygen they produce (the first pollutant that caused the extinction of many lifeforms... seriously) comes from water, not from carbon dioxide. Said that, yeah, it is pretty amazing that tree can grow so much from just air, water and light.
That's smart(or I am just dumb)
Not only is the tree made of you, but you're both made of star-dust! Every atom in your body came from a star!
and every speck of star dust is a multidimensional energetic wave in the fabric of time and space itself.
Yeah I was slowly coming to the realization as I lost my COVID weight last year that most of the mass that I lost must have been through breathing out the carbon
Happy Earth Day 🌎
Cool
Only insomuch as you are made of the tree that cabinet came from
Are trees made out of flesh?
Or is he made out of trees?
He screams for he does not know.
Not exactly, it's more like you constantly feed the tree.
Yes.
Hey I like ur videos:)
Thank you 👍
❤
Hi Chris HallBeck
I guess I should work out more so I can feed the trees!
All life is one
Awwww
Wow
Don't forget Nitrogen
And you are made of the tree
The tree doesn't break CO2 down to carbon and oxygen tho. The oxygen is from water.
It uses energy from the sun to combine carbon dioxide and water to make carbohydrate and releases excess oxygen ripped from water, not carbon dioxide.
Because why not
This is what children on the internet should be watching. Not brain-rot cocomelon.
Not that children should be on the internet in the first place
how dose it feel having a book with your name on it
It’s nice  👍
@@ChrisHallbeck happy for you i live in a place where i can't buy books at all
@@the_guy_from_the_voults Where do you live that has no books?
@@ChrisHallbeck Libya the country it self is not the problem i live in small town named awjla ( nice place if you wanted to take a vacation in the desert and the farms tho)
Tree
0s gang right here 🗣🗣🗣
Actually, the Oxygen from Carbon Dioxide is incorporated into the tree, along with Hydrogen from water.
Th e Oxygen from WATER is released into the atmosphere.
What animation software do you use?
I use Clip Studio Paint on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil.
@@ChrisHallbeck thank you so much! I love your style of animation
Well technically the trees breathe, too, so the trees are making oxygen for themselves and making carbon dioxide for themselves, and animals just lodged themselves in the middle.
It's the same as losing weight through dieting and exercising - most of the fat you lose is breathed out during your sleep as carbon dioxide and water vapour.
Are monsters carbon based lifeforms that respirate?
Kinda gets you thinking on why some people are so against carbon in the air. We are feeding the trees! Burn more trees! Oh wait.. I see the problem in my logic now
frisk
Wellllll, 60% of oxygen on Earth is made from algae rather than trees but eh.
