I saw Pete with this at Tixover in September, great machine. I wouldn't be surprised if the Disco I'm picking up tomorrow ends up like this in a few years time.
I forgot that this video still existed until I found it by mistake, next month I will have owned this truck for 3 years and it's been fantastic. As Pete confirmed, he did a lot more after this before selling it on. The 200Tdi is still going strong but the water pump has worn out so I'm replacing it next week.
@@RhysLRWorkshop Yes I still have it, almost 5 years now. There are some videos of it on my channel mixed amongst all the other stuff. Front end is on axle stands while I wait for a new stub axle to arrive.
Thanks for the positive comments guys. Yes, bobtailing really does make a huge difference - the discovery's rear over hang is it's achiles heel when offroading - just ask anyone who offroads a standard one! Even with a HD tank guard the overhang causes issues when tackling anything moderately extreme. This truck has evolved a massive amount since LRO filmed this - full external rollcahe, front and rear winches, massive extreme tyres, etc etc - a land rover project is NEVER finished!
I'd actually like to know whether it really does make any appreciable difference off road, as the overhand isn't miles, and I'd have thought that to really get the back grounded out you'd be tackling some serious slopes at the limit of traction anyway? I just think people do it because it looks cool.... and I'm with them on that! :)
This is one of the best projects ive seen on a landrover,, nothing bodged all proper done

Awesome and so much work and skill involved....I'm sure we'll be hearing much more from this clever geezer in the not-too-distant.

Top landy, what about bob-nosing it to get a better aproach angle?
Really like that he reused the old car but that TD5 is just asthmatic, at least I think it's a TD5...

Great vehicle
I know it don't have number plates, but can you use this on road?

@nutnfancyproject Its just for off road use.
