We are lacking in drone warfare...we need to develop our own state of the art drones...which is easier and far less costly than developing a fighter jet.

@@realzhella6817 it's not like that, better get your information updated before bashing. Army and Air Force is still Importing bcz of the Babus. Importing naval ships is difficult considering all aspects than Building them indigenously. And the sub par quality you're talking about is nothing but inferiority complex of us Indians.

The Bayraktar system is also a capable system. It proved its effectiveness in Syria as well. They will only learn and improve on this experience and one day might deliver these to pakistan.

@@srikanth85in Haha, India is NOT Syria. We got Heron TP drones and are getting MQ9 reapers too, though in negotiation phase.. If a war breaks out, Pakistan will surrender in days..

Also we need to factor in China not just compare ourselves to a failed bankrupt pakistan.
Also most of our air defence systems are outdated and need to be upgraded to combat drones. Don’t just conclude that countries would fall in days during a war.

@@srikanth85in Well under BECA, India can use American mapping and navigational systems and hence the drones could still be purchased albeit in the distant future.
The cost is high per each unit and hence New Delhi backed off for now. The plan is to upgrade 90 Heron drones with LGB, ATGM and other A2G systems.
Cost is a factor, hence I used the term "negotiation phase" .
But, if you think Pakistan can topple India with Turkish Bayrakter drones, then you are sadly mistaken.

Please understand that they have been shot down by Russia over Nagorno Karabakh with EW Systems.

Like I’ve said before compare yourself to China in terms of technology rather than a lowly country like pakistan.
Please read the multitude of news articles out there dedicating the Azerbaijan victory to the drone warfare.
And our drones are mostly recee oriented not weaponized. Not sure how many years it would take to weaponize them.
Also unless we have a home grown drone ecosystem like China, Israel and Turkey we will always be behind in the truly modern day warfare
DRDO should put more effort on drone technology.

A project which DRDA is capable of finishing in 1month gets stretched to 2 to 3 years because of it. Lack of supplies, work force, blockade by the liberals(anti national interests) leads to it. Plus given that most of our population is not psychologically strong enough to handle weapons production on commercial state like USA.(its the truth and accept it ....)

For last two decades asking defence ministry and political leadership focus on low cost mass produced armed and surveillance drones, focus on cyber and space command, coastal and Maritime command, drone command even for smaller operations and such other initiatives which urgently needed.

Indian air defence system is multilayered complex and multi tier arrangement.this network centric systems poses very high threatening environment to enemy assets.even stealth technology is not enough for sead or dead mission in these areas.example is the air defence cover over chinese costline along south china sea.and these airforce are professional than armeniya or ajarbaijan.the capability and the threat is different in our region.our main problem is their cruise missile.this is gives more headache.
That's all in paper, after balakot air strike our foolish military command doesn't think about a pak reciprocal strike that's why pak fighter jets bombed our land and returned safely. Our missile defence system shot down our own helicopter killing everyone in that. So in a real time conflict everything changes.

They did not even hit any targets with their standoff distance.firing their MRAM's at su 30 at a speed of 0.7 mach and distance of 70+kms doesn't show professionalism.
@@shiveshgauravsingh yes pak didn't achieve in hitting any targets they dropped bombs in woods. But we aren't well prepared for that counter attack by pakistan. Our command didn't expect that. If we are well prepared at that time no pak jets will get back to pakistan. so many times china encroached our land but still we are unable to defend, now they encroached 400m Ladakh and retreated. I know it is humanly a hard task to defend all mountain terrain borders. But we may took some courage and make some permanent outposts in chinese border with few hundred jawans will deter china to stop the encroachments.

Strong EW suites can block/jam drone warfare. Koral EW systems blocked Armenian AD and SPAD-GMs. Thus helped them in drone warfare. But Koral EW suites failed in Donbass theatre because of far stronger Krashushka and Murmansk BN. If our Himshakti and Samyukta have decent capabilities then we will have some advantage.
