      It's not that they don't recognize the airplanes, they are waiting for the name of the base they are going to be stationed on!

    Did we do this in 69-05? No, I guess it’s something new. We just read our assignments off the board. There was a war on. You know, the same one Bud Day was shot down in.

    If u get assigned to a T-6, what do u do? I mean what are T-6s’ used for?

      The T-6 is used primarily as a trainer in the USAF so you'd be an instructor pilot

      But if do you want a fighter jet like F16 or F15 and you get a T6 is not so depressing ? Can you reject the T6?

      Believe it or not, pilots are allowed to wear contacts/glasses as long as their vision is within a sufficient range, otherwise they’ll have to get lasik.

      @@snooproach8500 even though the manual says to wear them, they don’t. Oxygen on contact lenses is why they are not allowed.

      Bb that’s not how it works. Everyone flying heavies knew they wouldn’t get fighters, they wanted a heavy track.

    What does the follow on assignment mean?

      It means that’s the base they are going to after this assignment

      As their first assignment, they've been selected to instruct new pilots for the next 4 years.
      Once that assignment ends, they will fly an aircraft in their follow on assignment as a fighter pilot, mobility pilot or special operation pilot.

      ​@@nextbestmedic6944idk how true this is but from what i read online and heard in person, you are most likely guaranteed to get a plane of your choosing after finishing your instructor assignment.
