This was me. I was a drug addict and basically a prostitute, sleeping with women for drugs and money. I couldn't, or rather I wouldn't, accept God's forgiveness for a time because I could not fathom such a forgiveness for the things in my life. Jesus is marvelous.
It is good that you covered this aspect of "I'm too sinful". I note that David did some awful stuff that would make others using the "too sinful" argument look like roses. He was remorseful and repented. God considered his heart after his own.
A sober reminder that sin is so so bad. Ran into one guy who really couldnt get his mind on Jesus and admitted that Jesus doesnt listen to his prayers. Guy was almost crippled from what who knows what happened to him. I thought he was possessed and he didnt want to talk about it. Perfect peace to them who's mind is fixed on the Lord. Pray that a time and a place comes for them to repent and have mercy. Even when dust shakes off the feet it doesnt say we give up on them. Leave them be and go on to the next. Not going to badger them or worry cause its between them and God. Trying to have decent interactions while not being a friend of worldly sort. Or is the dusty feet only apply to passing through?
