Thanks! And yes, true, but you don't really get the benefits of 32bit, since they are still using basic A4988 steppers. E.g. can still see salmon skinning.
Thank you for posting this excellent review! I am an absolute beginner to 3D printing and it was very helpful! Based on this, I ordered the u20 from gearbest but after nearly two weeks of waiting for it to be shipped, I contacted them only to be told it was on backorder and it would be two or three weeks before I could have one delivered. So now I'm considering either the tevo tornado or the cr-10 instead. How would you recommend those for a beginner compared to this u20?
Thanks Ryan! That's a bit frustrating... I haven't used the Tevo Tornado or the CR-10 either. Both have been out for a while now, so there's a large community and they are both fairly well known. If you want a more recent printer, then I really recommend checking out the TwoTrees Sapphire Pro!: www.gearbest.com/3d-printers--3d-printer-kits/pp_3004389997905725.html?wid=2000001&lkid=77942660
Hi, I love your reviews, I hope to see more models. In the while, which 3D printer you suggest that is decent, big and cheap like this Alfawise, but upgradable, with a possible extruder on top and a second z axis? As thousand of people, I am new to 3D print and with a very low budget, but because the budget, waste money is a big shame, so an help for a good choise will be fantastic.I think that features like auto calibration can be avoided if for the same money I can have better detailed print. Thanks
Hi Mario - thanks for the feedback! The next FDM printer I have to review is the JGAurora Magic (sampin.ch/magic) - it is also going to be a low cost printer when it is available, and I hope it will be more suitable for modification, but it is only a single z printer. The JGAurora A5 is one of the few I know of with dual z axis. The ender 3 might be an option to consider (sampin.ch/ender3gb) as you can buy a second z axis upgrade kit for that printer. There are some new cheap and big 3d printer models coming out that have dual Z - currently available at banggood (sampin.ch/Izzo) but will be available from gearbest too soon. I'm not sure yet what ones I want to review, as many seem like they are just clone printers with nothing significant to differentiate them... if there's a model you're interested in particular that you want to see a review of, please let me know!
The website only provides a US and EU plug model. As I live in Australia, is it possible to buy the EU model and use an adaptor? What are the alternatives?
Good question - I'm actually in Australia too. The printer power cable is removable - it just takes a standard IEC "kettle plug". You can use a power cable from any old computer, etc to replace the supplied power cable, or just use a travel adapter. If you're in melbourne I'm happy if you want to pick one up from me, I've got a swag of them in a box.
@@fnice1971 Good suggestion, but my understanding is that salmon skinning cannot be fixed by vref tuning unfortunately, it is a property of the implementation used for the stepper driver.
Yes, I think the speed is probably average, to better than average when compared to others. The short bowden tube means that there is no extra delay from long retraction settings, which is good for both print quality and for speed :-)
Thank you! :-) The Tevo Flash looks pretty good - you should check out the AnyCubic Chiron too, hehe! :-) But, fro $/value, the U20 one is hard to beat, but do look out for those cable protector drag chain mods!

Looks like there's been some exciting work recently in the community getting Marlin 2.0 to run on this printer!
Nice Review. Would have been better as you said having integrated electronics, and I wish it had direct drive too. Oh and a better spool holder.
Nice review!
great review
Thank you! :-)
Great review for a awesome printer plus it has a 32bit board

does it come prebuilt? I have never got a 3d printer.

I saw some salmon skin on that benchy - 8 diode smoothers should take care of that, or are the steppers replaceable?
Cheers!
Thanks Da Hai. Steppers are soldered unfortunately... 32bit board, but only using A4988 😭 11:07
@@SamPinchesMakerShop : I would adjust the potentiometer's next to the stepper drivers. before smoothers

I am brand new to 3D printing. what exactly are TLSmoothers ??
I’m sorry this wasn’t explained. They are a cable with diodes in it, which helps to reduce surface artifacts “salmon skin” on some printer models.
Hello.
You think of speed, is standard as most of the printers?
Thank you.

Hi, greetings.
Clamps to hold the glass in bed hot not golpearian printer nozzle to make leveling?
Then the size of the bed is not seized? Thank you.
¿Está diciendo que la boquilla golpea las abrazaderas de la cama durante la nivelación?
@@SamPinchesMakerShop Es mas bien una pregunta de que si las abrazaderas no interfieren al estar dentro de el area de la cama al nivelar? Gracias

Damn it! now I really can't decide, why did you have to mention the AnyCubic lol
Ended up buying the Anycubic Chiron, Amazon had a $40 off coupon, $499 prime, got it in two days. Thanks for mentioning it.
@@BigDFPV Enjoy! Good luck 😄
your micro usb at the box is ok?
Yes, mine came with a microSD card that works fine, and a USB cable that works fine too. Have you had problems?
@@SamPinchesMakerShop no ,i saw other people who had a problem.i'm not ordered yet but i'm thinking about.
Looks exactly like a CR10.
I have the Alfawise U20 Plus, and it's the worse printer ever. I've been having nothing but problems with it ever since I got it.
