Thank you, Nils. These kind of tutorials are essential to get more people planing and understand how awesome that feeling is. Once you plane...you go insane!
Nice tutorial! Maybe you could do two follow ups? 1. The "art" of hooking into the harness lines (w/o crashing) 2. An in-depth "expert" vid in with you, in detail, explain those lovely vectors in your graphs. Love your SUP vid, glad you put in a link 👍
Thanks Niels! Could you explain how to set up harness lines in a future video please? I have watched and tried lots of techniques, it’s still a mystery to me
I know what will be the next topic that everyone will want to know. What is the difference between foil and fins sails?Jhon Sukos drives with fins sails in the races and has no problem.
when the wind is a little strong, for example 20 knots it's easy to get planning, on the other hand when the wind is weaker and you have to pump it's another story and even more so if the water is choppy
Hey Nils, thanks for your great windsurfing content. I am not even a windsurfer (I am a wingfoiler) but watch your channel a lot. Do you reckon you could get planing on one of your boards, but powered with a wing instead?
A friend of mine said at the last party, that the most fantastic and memorable moments in his life where the birth of his both kids and the moment he got planing for the first time 🙂, his wife was sitting next to him and was not amused 🙂🙂🙂
great that u link the SUP video again! - isnt it better to have at least a bit of chop to get plaining? thats what i felt the first time: two small hops over the water in a gust. in this context, is the traditional V-shape really needed? or is it just the width of the board? - on the WindSUP right now i would say, the weight and hight of the board is hindering
No. This is way too technical for any beginner to understand, let alone get some useful information from. Correlations between sheeting angles and pressure differences? Force and drag vectors? Are you serious? The no 1 reason that people struggle with planing is quite simply that they hold onto their booms way too forward, which of course means that they 1) can't generate enough power to plane and 2) and even if they had enough power, they would effectively sheet out when they step back on their boards, and loosing the power needed to plane properly. TLDR; Beginners needs to to be shown how to use the sail to generate power, the rest will take care of itself.

Nice tutorial! First time planing is like first orgasm. 🙂 You just want to do it again!!
❤🔥and again!💦💨
Very nice teaching Nils ! I would have loved to have that when I started 30 years ago !

I have never been this late to say: Moin Nils. Please apologise on being late

The real question is when will you continue your trip around Greece??
