2-3 per plant? Wow! Im very discouraged now as i dont have that much soace or that many containers to plant for a cintinued harvest. Tks for the great video!
Giordana, only Rosa Bianca and Back Beauty produce 2-3 eggplants per plant. Try Black Egg. You will get many more eggplants and they are fairly good size-much bigger than an egg.
ive been growing cannabis in coco, indoors for decades. my products are very solid. Ive never grown in soil. Ive never grown vegetables. so... if my backyard soil is toxic due to chemical leaching from an old battery factory can i substitue Pro Mix or peat for the crappy soil? Perlite, vermiculite? I guess my question is what would your IDEAL mix be if you werent worried about cost? Bat Guano? Seabird poo? Mycorrizhae? Enzymes? I need to learn everything. yes.... even watering technique :) im not selling tomatoes. the costs arent an issue. Thank you for a fantastic video!!!!
Please go to our video on the best soil for containers. We us this for everything. It is a proven (over 10,000 plantings) mix. However, unless the leaching has stopped, using any kind of soil will not help. Even the new soil will become toxic.
Also...... if you were to amend a bag soil like Fox Farm Ocean Forest what would that recipe look like? Ive a feeling im still going to show calcium deficiencies if i dont add more bone meal? Thank you for your time!

My black beauties must be an anomaly then since they produce far more than 3 fruits. They dont stop producing till the frosts kill them sometime in december.
Mary, I apologize for taking so long to respond. In the future, please do not prune your eggplants. If necessary tie them to a stake, but do not prune.
Absolutely, True Joy. Soak, but do not leave the pot standing in water. Sorry I did not mention this in the video. Thank you for letting me know. Please visit our website when you have the chance, www.harvesting-history.com/
John, use full strength fertilizer. Do not dilute it. In containers the fertilizer tends to wash through the pot rapidly. Fertilize at a minimum every 2 weeks.
I wish I still had the seeds from the Black Beauty packet that I bought a couple of years back because I had eggplant coming out of my ears off of 2 plants. We harvested over 30 fruits.

@@harvestinghistoryllc3161 Well, relearning. I technically moved back. Just two years ago. No success in the garden but recently just started some new seedlings to have some indoor veg over the winter.
I'm surprised. thought copper kills plants? someone told me not to nail a birdhouse to a tree using copper nails. note - please put a sponge on your mic.
Cypherknot, perhaps in large quantity applications this is true, but I can tell you from my own gardens and the abundance of earthworms, that there has been no problem with the copper fungicide. I have been using it for more than a decade and the population of earthworms continues to increase exponentially. Thank you for your comment.
The birds, ahhh the sound of spring! After moving I don't hear the birds like that anymore.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge on eggplant container growing. Very helpful and can hardly wait to fo this on my eggplant seedling!
Thank you. I am growing eggplant in a container for the first time this year, and this answered many questions.

Can you make a video on how to water plants in containers. I always either over water them or water too less...
Jess, Good idea, but it will take me awhile. Thank you.
Look into self wicking setups.
Is composted manure the same as compost or is it just manure still?

I don't know what to suggest you amend bag soil with. Take a look at our The Best Soil for Containers video and see if this helps.
For the last recipe, don’t I have to use peat moss for drainage?
Thank you for the video!
Peat Moss keeps the soil from compacting and provides organic matter.
❤
Thank you.
how deep should the container be?
Wood Stack, the container should be 10-12 inches deep.
Do these need to be staked or caged eventually?
Pat, they do not need to be staked.

What does crummy back yard soil mean?
To me it means GARBAGE back yard soil.
Am I understanding this correctly?
What type of pot are u using to plant a eggplant. Is it safe in any plastic container?
No. You need to use food-safe plastic.
My black beauties must be an anomaly then since they produce far more than 3 fruits. They dont stop producing till the frosts kill them sometime in december.
Can we use the bone meal and tomato tone together every 2 weeks?
Alternate weeks.
Hi, can I use composted chicken manure instead of composted cow manure in the soil? Thank you in advance.
DT D chicken manure is even better.
Do you recommend pruning the black beauty's? If so how.

Gary, Thank you for the advice. Copper fungicide does not kill plants, but it does kill mold and fungi spores. Don't know about copper nails.
Copper fungicide also kills beneficial soil organisms including earthworms and beneficial fungi.
