One of the reasons why stuff on wish is so cheap is because the workers in China making them are not paid properly.
As a small business I’ve been trying to source my products from other places, which can mean higher cost price but I’ve found people are willing to pay a little more when they know this. That also goes for asking for alternatives to plastic packaging! Sadly, places like Wish and a mindset that sees “cheap and free” as GOOD - not necessarily asking WHY this is the case - is part of the issue. I love Cherry and her videos, but I’ve seen a few people do these types of videos, including fast fashion hauls, and it does worry me 😬
I hate wish and I hate when ppl do these stupid videos claiming its free stuff. But notice the never actually tell you how much the total was? I gate it and that's alot of hate lol. Ppl please source better.

@@SophieHarrison69 Nobody likes that situation in China, it's horrible. And if you as an individual can make those changes to your life in that regard, it's fantastic! I'm from Uruguay and here most jobs are not paid "properly" as Marie said, so I can't make that choice of helping China because sadly, they are helping me. If it wasn't like that, I don't know if I'd have enough money to eat, and I'm not exaggerating.
So yes, I think it's awesome to seek for other better options, but no everybody can do it.

I absolutely love your videos and i appreciate that you know there is a risk when ordering from places like Wish. Some of the stuff are also SIRIUSLY cute too, like the octopus!
However, one of my worries with places like Wish is that they have been known (along with ali express) to steal designs from other people (often small businesses); what’s more, just like fast fashion, when prices are so cheap there is often a reason for this, likely linked to low quality materials but also worker pay/welfare.
I feel the way our culture has evolved in the past decade - especially with consumerism and the “hauls” concept that makes very clickable content (people do love to watch it, to be fair!) has reinforced this idea that “cheap and free” are really GOOD things - and don’t necessarily ask WHY this is the case.
As I said, I love your videos. But as an influencer who I know values small businesses and quality products, not to mention sustainability, i hope you can see where I’m coming from writing this. I absolutely love you and your videos as I said, they’ve been such a lumos for me in the past year as I’ve lived on my own in lockdown Xxxx
I ABSOLUTELY see and understand where you're coming from - it's not somewhere I'd genuinely want to shop from for many of the reasons you've listed above! I only shop there for content tbh, as I know people enjoy them as they can be quite silly and fun. It's why I never recommend to actually go and shop on wish at any point.
I so appreciate you responding and saying what you did. I admit that I felt anxious as soon as I posted, it wanting to seem unnecessarily negative! Then I saw your IG stories and was about to come and delete the comment, before seeing that you had replied. Thank you for doing that and saying what you did.
As I said, I love your videos and - more than that - your whole personality that shines through regardless of what you post! And that includes your honesty, like on IG just now, that people can’t see what goes on behind a screen. As someone who advocates for more authenticity on social media, alongside mental health, we need more people like you.

Put clear nail polish on the inside of the ring! Once dry it will stop your finger going green 😁

I just can’t believe you actually got everything, and it all resembled what you ordered. The one time we used Wish, we ordered a very futuristic looking watch, and received a watch with a large silver skull covering the face.

But the only thing with cheap stuff that is constantly manufactured and sold on there is that it’s not ethically made,Or sourced . All of the stuff is made in sweatshops around the globe. And it’s bad for the environment.
Yeah and they all come in a lot of plastic packaging too and a lot of the stuff is cheap quality and ends up in landfill quite quickly. Really bad for the environment 😩
