As an XC90 driver I appreciate the competition with the V90 for best looks. Volvo has done the impossible. They have made a wagon that is practical and at the same time seriously sexy.
Architect's car. Simply beautiful.
A Gorgeous car enthusiast example when a SUV is no needed
This clean design I just Love it, there are to many over designd cars now, sharp and clean well done Volvo
Gorgeous. Thanks for reviewing a wagon. Don't see many of these anymore.
The V90 and V60 are actually markeded as "Estate" in most other parts of the world, derived from the original marketing term "Herrgårdsvagn" in Swedish coined in the 1950's
@@bob8688 Caravan is what Opel/Vauxhall use to market this type of bodystyle
Funny thing about this is that most people here in Sweden don't use the proper name "Herrgårdsvagn" but instead just says "Kombi" even though that just means it has foldable rear seats.
@@Basih here in h to be U.K. it’s Estate. In Denmark (where I am from) it’s station wagon. I personally like Volvo’s V for versatility. 😃
I really like the Volvo wagons, I’m shocked more people aren’t buying these instead of the Volvo crossovers.
Wagons and limousines will always be better than boring suvs and crossovers . But for people siting higher give them perception of power. It's trend now,we can't do nothing about it.
Great review like always brother!
I saw my first one on the road today. Gorgeous styling. Immediately reminded me of the lines on the vintage P1800 / ES sportsters of the 60's.
Elegant and beautiful V90 and V60, Volvo nails it with brilliant design🙂 Great review👍
Very slick looking car! I like the POV shots too!
V90 is a dealer special order only, simply lovely though.
Great car and review Steve! The quality of your videos is amazing! Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
I wish they made high performance Volvos. Really elegant vehicles.
@@kronop8884 Maybe "performance" isn't the right word, but even in the t8 it's only a 2L 4 cylinders. You can ad every as many turbos you want, it won't ever be as smooth and confortable and torquy as a reasonable 3L 6 cylinders.
Volvo wagons never go out of style. That V90 is a perfect alternative to the crossover/SUV. Problem is... most people who look a Volvo are looking for an XC60 or XC90 instead of a V60 or V90.
...because the equivalent crossover has more space and could accommodate a third row.
XC90 is marketed as the safest family car on Earth so that explains why
@@stevepasquarella823 Absolutely and it’s the only Volvo that accommodates 7 people. So for me with my family of 6, my only choice is the XC90. Not that I am complaining 😉😍😍
On my 2017 , once I set the standard custom options i.e. auto steering wheel heat based upon external temp, I use voice control for everything else needed while driving.
Great video of one of my favorite cars, thanks for the perfectly timed Christmas present! This car has such elegant presence, and in some colors/ wheels even swagger, in person. You did a great job capturing it Steve, looking every bit like the owner. I read once where Mercedes wagon owners have the highest net worth of any of the cars in their brand. To my mind, no reason to think that wouldn't hold up for the V90 as well. Happy Holidays to you and your family Steve, looking forward to all you produce in 2021!
🙏🎅🎄
Merry Christmas, Ken and family! Thanks for always checking in. Appreciate the feedback very much.
Great video review Steve! It is good to see Volvo has not abandoned their wagon lineup.
@@stevehammes I liked the fact that it was in my city and mostly in my neighborhood.
Love your reviews sir. Been a fan for while. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Beautiful car.
This may be the ultimate wagon.
One of the sleekest automobiles ever made. Love the stance of it and it's really elegant and "European" styling. I love it! It's every bit aggressive but incredibly sharp. Too bad it costs 70,000, but it's well worth it. Much rather this than an overpriced German SUV.
What did you shoot this with (camera and lens), the quality looks amazing, especially in the intro.
Also this is a beautiful Volvo, really really nice.
Thanks! I appreciate comments on the production. I shoot with Sony XDCAM 4k cameras with the standard lens. Nothing fancy.
Hello Steve. Merry Christmas and happy new year. A/the perfect car when I want to give up on actually drivig. I just don't have $65k to part with right now.
Absolutely clear, beautiful Scandinavian design, excellent quality and safety. This is the best looking station wagon in the upper middle class segment. However, the Volvo B6 is the better offer than the T6 because the engine runs 10 times more sophisticated thanks to the nigel Nagel new engine technology of the mild hybrid variant. And then I still have one question, why does this T6 still have the old gear selector lever and not the wonderful Orrefors selector lever ... ???
I love my volvo ..
I love the Volvo Wagon
my Fully loaded cross country V90 T6 AWD is my current first car, I'd prefer the V90 cross country over the inscription MSRP 75,245 USD, love the review.
I just bought V90 Inscription B5 version in Japan. I look forward to have it delivered in next month!
Probably best looking wagon
so beautiful car
One of the sexiest wagons ever produced
They just did a test in sweden now where they found out their long test V90 after 3 years had severe corrosion which is very not acceptable by a car in this price range, the old V70's had very minor rust and were very well treated. Something to keep in mind.
Have driven the V90 T8 version from time to time here in Sweden, really nice car.
Then you oughta try the German variants, makes any volvo to look like a horse and a wagon!
MAN WE NEED THAT MAN
Stylish.
Just gorgeous. This is exactly the one I’d prefer, as I don’t like the XC Spec. Too bad the UI might be a dealbreaker (it broke the deal for us when we were shopping the V60), but it’s good to see a spare tire. They did away with it in the V60 (you could add it, but it ate up a large amount of trunk space).
This thing has real presence. Couldn’t see spending the huge premium to buy the gorgeous V60 over the VW GSW or the Mazda CX-5, but this V90 is one I’d turn and look back at every time I parked it.
Thanks for a beautiful look at a beautiful car.
@@normt430 Tour X not available at the time, and anyway is much bigger than V60. This was car for wife, who likes smaller cars (She’d HATE driving a V90). We were selling back our Dieselgate Jetta SportWagen TDI at the time.
@@Andrew8126 the VW Alltrack is still for sale?
The TourX is huge and similar size as the V90 and Outback. There are actually brand 2018 and 2019 TourX for sale on autotrader!
@@normt430 I’ve seen those Tour Xes for sale. Nice car, just not for us. In a similar vein, I see four new Golf Alltracks for sale nationwide.
We weren’t shopping the Alltrack back in 2017, but the “plain” Golf SportWagen. If you wanted safety tech, you had to special-order the car. We did, but it still hadn’t arrived five months later and, in the interim, the current generation Mazda CX-5 arrived and wife just loved it. We got our VW deposit back and grabbed the Mazda.
@@Andrew8126 Mazda is top rated by Consuner Reports. Just too small for the money though.
People who buy wagons like these sure know their cars.
It’s so sexyyy damn
awesome the touchscreen has Zoom!
wagon's is the best car model try to change my mind!
Volvo V90 👍
Undoubtedly a gorgeous station wagon but I'm skeptical on the complexity of its powertrain Great review Happy Holidays, Steve
In Europe the T6 version is an hybrid, I am surprised it is not in the US
Three years ago the 9" center display "seemed small"... and in 2024 it seems like a "joke".
Still, a lovely car, I mean wagon.
It's beautiful. But I hate having HVAC controls buried in an on-screen menu. No thanks! Having some dials and switchgear is a must.
Yeah, Volvo's infotainment system is a driver distraction waiting to happen.
But you can just activate Pilot Assist while you change the settings. 😏 I’m with you though; no buttons, not buying.
Voice control takes care of the temperature, or it’s one press on the touchscreen and a slider to adjust manually, there’s physical buttons for the heated front and rear windows and a double press of the front will activate maximum heat and defrosting. I keep mine on auto so never need to touch it, but granted that air distribution can be a bit fiddly to adjust as that’s a few presses of the screen, but again, you don’t really need anything other than the auto setting so it’s not a problem really.
So much to love, but touch-screen climate controls is a no-go for me
When this V90 came out, I read that Volvo dealers weren't going to stock this vehicle and it's only available as a special order. Is that (still) true?
No dual exhaust?
No AM radio is a dealbreaker for me.
@@stevepasquarella823 it is available through an update. For some reason they did not ship with AM band.
@@normt430 AM is not really a thing in the rest of the world, they moved on to FM 50+ years ago
@@kronop8884 all cars sold in the U.S. have AM-band. So someone is listening to it and advertisers are still paying for ads. It is still the reception king over FM.
Audi / MB are Moving to Sport Vagons in a Fast Way !
Too bad buyers here in the States don't understand that.
Gawdayum we need European Sport Wagons here!!!!
Beautiful, but the colour reminds me of a hearse.
I feel like that leather would show dirt really badly... Can one get the butterscotch brown leather in this model?
Yes, Amber, Maroon Brown, and Black are available as well. A friend with pets has this Blonde color on her 2 year old XC90 and it still looks great.
Yes darker color is better, I have charcoal interior or black as I call it in my 2020 V60 CC.
AM Radio, which does not exist... in USA, to be fair, in Europe it is still a thing ;-)
I love this car, but the absence of AM radio at that price just seems ridiculous.
It just needs a software update. I use AM band also but for some reason they left that out.
Thing is though, there’s not many countries that still use AM band radio, it’s not been a thing in Britain for probably 40 years or more. I don’t think I’ve ever really listened to AM radio, not even sure my V90 has it.
@@jamc204 we still have it here but it’s superseded with FM and digital radio. It’s a bit pointless though as the stations that are on AM are now mostly on DAB/digital anyway.
@@m44kts looks like 25% of Volvo sales are in thr states. So not sure if that has any weight in their decision making about options.
We have a 2018 Cadillac CT6 plug-in and it has AM band so I know it is just not an EV motor interference as some have mentioned on the XC90 T8 Facebook page.
Why dont volvo make cars with higher performence like Audi RS ,bmw Mseries?
It’s a nice looking wagon. But $67k is pricey.
Too many pointless options. Go for the T5 and skip the heads up display and the huge sound system and you have a V90 for under 60
@@stevepasquarella823 or a Regal TourX 2.0T with torque vectoring AWD for half the price.
I suspect it is priced by Volvo with confidence for this segment of cars. So similar to what Audi, MB and BMW offers.
Nice car, but it needs a 6 cylinder. Volvo engine concept does not match the car and price tag at all.
These new gen Volvos breakdown so easily after 30-50k miles unlike the older Volvos that run millions of miles.
The snowing looks fake. Is that what is really like in real life? 😳
I wish it had been fake, Paul! We’ve already had too much here this winter.
i miss when u had straight cut jeans
Steve Hammes New Car Reviews I think you fit better with straight cut/bootcut then slim fir
"beautifully Scandinavian"?!?!?! Are you sure Steve!?!?! You do know that Scandinavian design is known for being square, right?! This is nothing but a shoebox on wheels!!!
Wow. I wonder why your S90 review a few years back was so harsh. Same bones, same performance...go figure.
Idk but this car just screams European, much more so than all the other European vehicles on sale in North America.
great car except for the stupid panoramic roof
The midlife crisis mobiles: a Miata variants and a glorious estate wagon like this one~
some how, The engine power delivery not consistent and even。
The side mirror causing blindspot when you make a left or right turn.
Just retain the design and make it full electric . ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
I'd keep my Regal TourX 2.0T with torque vectoring AWD for less than half this V90. No one this is worth twice as much!
Volvo has not built a nice looking wagon since 2007 and I allowed Volvo all my life I own a 1997S 90 a real ass night is not the Chinese one
Lovely car. It's a shame it only has a 4 cyl, lets it down hugely.
They need to bring out a fully electric equivalent.
Carr is underpowered. The sun roof will bake you in places like Phoenix, Vegas, etc. Pass
Love Volvo but the current engine offering sucks!!! Those 4 bangers sound like garbage and not very refined
nice china car
Nope all estate cars are built in Sweden. S90 and so on are built in China and U.s
@@superbird426 S90 in the only fully China manufactured one. In Europe we also get the XC60 T8 from China because they had to drop plans on exporting the XC60 to the US from China and needed to use the capacity in the Sweden factory for cars made for export the US because of the US/China trade war. Other then that They are all made in EU/USA.
Swedish actually, just because Volvo is owned by Geely doesn’t mean it Chinese 🙄
in my opinion that is one of the best looking cars of the past 20 years
